My stay at The Forge has been great the staff are friendly and very welcoming so if you have any problems you know where to go. The prices for the rooms are very affordable for a student as well as they let you rebook for a room in The Forge for your second year at University. The location is brilliant with being literally across the road from Aldi is perfect and about 15/ 20minute walk to the train station and Ponds Forge, whilst as well as being a 20 minute walk to Collegiate Campus. When i first moved in my room was clean with no issues. Sadly, me and my 2 flatmates encountered a mouse in our kitchen we don’t know how it got there where it came from and how long it was hiding for but as soon as we noticed the staff here straight away they sorted it out by getting rid of the mouse and covering/filling the holes in where the mouse would of come from.Overall, my stay as a first year student has been great.

Where is Sheffield Hallam University Located?
Sheffield Hallam University is in South Yorkshire, which is right in the centre of the UK. Leeds and Manchester are its neighbouring cities, with London only a two-hour train journey away.
City Campus is just a few minutes' walk from Sheffield train station, and is surrounded by shops, cafés, and pubs. Just a 25-minute walk away is Collegiate Campus, which mixes some of Sheffield's best bars, markets, and restaurants with stunning parks for studying in the sunshine.

If it's the Robotics Masters course that you're considering at Sheffield Hallam, you'll have the opportunity to benefit from the support of your supervisory team, consisting of a Director of Studies and a second supervisor who has specific interest in your chosen subject area. Also, in addition to carrying out your work independently, you'll recieve research training, Linux and ROS training and you can also opt to undertake training in Matlab, Open GL, InDesign, Illustration and After Effects. The university is close to the city centre and many shopping areas as well as places for food and social areas. The staff are extremely helpful. The students union runs many events wich are cheap and a good place to be social and meet new people.

My experience at Sheffield Hallam University has been both rewarding and memorable. It’s been a time of real growth for me, not just academically but personally as well. Studying a subject I’m genuinely interested in has made learning feel much more engaging and enjoyable. The lecturers at Sheffield Hallam have been supportive and knowledgeable, always willing to help and explain things when needed. I’ve also really appreciated the independence that university life brings—it’s helped me improve my time management, stay organised, and take responsibility for my own work. Outside of my studies, being at Sheffield Hallam has given me the chance to meet lots of different people and build strong friendships. The overall student atmosphere is welcoming, and there’s always something going on, which makes the experience even better. There have been some challenges, like managing deadlines and handling pressure at times, but these have helped me grow in confidence and become more resilient.

It is a nice university. There a multiple campuses that are close to many of the surrounding accommodations. A lot of staff are helpful if you have any questions. There are lots of societies to join and there are frequent society nights however the clubs are quite boring and repetitive, however they are fairly cheap. There are services to use e.g. mental health and careers advice. However I didn’t find the open days very helpful.

Lots of careers experience, sports events and activities happening

I like the location of the city campus

Sheffield Hallam University is a top notch university. My university provides a supportive and academically stimulating environment for students. The lecturers are knowledgeable and approachable, and the course content is relevant and engaging. There are good library and study facilities, which make it easier to focus and complete assignments effectively.

Decent uni spaces and renovated student union

There are a lot of societies, although not all are active and may not be value for money if they cost money.

Academic societies are often free or very inexpensive, but some sports ones may be more expensive. I havent had much to do with the student union or careers service, so I do not have an opinion, but the societies are varied and very accepting of new people for anyone thinking of joining one- i would definitely recommend!!

Well located for a Hallam uni student, rooms are big and priced cheap. Only sharing with a max of four other people so living space is never too cramped.

One of the biggest advantages of Bailey Street student accommodation is that bills are usually included in the rent. This helps students manage their budget more easily without worrying about extra monthly costs. The building also offers useful facilities such as a gym, study rooms, laundry services, and secure entry systems to ensure safety and convenience.

Staff member are friendly and helpful. The campus is right in the city centre with lot of amenties close by within walking distance. Teachers are really helpful for our studies and class related activities. They reply fast in emails. All campuses are clean with great views as well as equipped facilities like teaching labs, canteens and social spaces.

Staying at The Pinnacles while doing my MSc at Sheffield Hallam University, and it’s honestly a great choice. Clean rooms, good vibe, helpful staff, and a safe environment. Location is super convenient for uni, buses, and shops. Makes student life in Sheffield much easier,highly recommend!

I’ve had a really great experience living in this university accommodation and would definitely recommend it. From the start, it’s been welcoming, well organised, and has made settling into uni life much easier. The staff are amazing – always friendly, approachable, and happy to help with anything, whether it be maintenance issues or parcel collections or getting locked out of your room no matter the time. They really make the place feel supportive and welcoming. The facilities are also kept very clean and well maintained, which makes the whole environment comfortable and pleasant to live in. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of space to study and relax, and it truly feels like a home away from home. On top of that, there are regular social events and activities and the freebies they give out, which make it easy to meet people and feel part of a community. Overall, it’s been a really positive experience and a great place to live as a student.

We have lots of opportunities for our students to meet lots of new people while they are here - we have plenty of societies and events where you can meet so many people who you otherwise would not, while doing something fun too! I am sorry to hear that Hallam Help has not been as helpful as you might have hoped. If you are ever struggling they should direct you to the correct place, or if not you can always talk to your academic or student support advisor who are always there to help and support you whenever you need it. Hallam is an amazing university for a variety of reasons. There’s lots of different types of courses to choose from all with designated resources and help from lecturers. I’ve definitely learned a lot and there’s a massive student community thats really easy to join. My only concern is moving away from booking appointments on Halam Help, and being directed towards a chatbot/ having to email to ask for an appointment. This makes it difficult and impersonal to try and get a booking, and delays it for urgent issues. The Students Union have been amazing for issues though, and have given more help than the university in some cases e.g. appeals and grants.

We do have in person Hallam Help desks which you can go to, or you can fill in our online form here which someone will look at and take on board. The University and activities are fantastic

Sheffield itself is a great city which is full of students and there is lots to do here. At Hallam specifically, we pride ourselves on how diverse and inclusive our student body is. Sheffield Hallam is so supportive, they provide so many different experiences, including placement to prepare for life after university. The staff support learning and give advice if struggling and the university provides support services.
