Everyone is there to help us, new and exciting work spaces and lots of societies to choose from. I have poor signal in some of the studios though.
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is great to hear that you have been having a great time here overall. We are so proud of the lovely community we have created here. All of our staff are friendly and welcoming which is always reassuring to our new (and existing) students! Our SU works hard to ensure that there are lots of events and societies for our students too - we have regular 'give it a go' events where students can try new things and meet people, and we have over 80 student led societies too! I really enjoy the university and feel as thought there are many opportunities they have to offer as well as social events with the students union

It has been very easy to settle in and easy to navigate around

The university offers great opportunities.

The camous is easy to access and locate. And the student union hold many great socials that are good to be a part of

We love our campuses too - we have two large campuses which are easily accessible and both have a great range of facilities. Fun and lots of events taking place

Decent campus, loads of study spaces and cafes where you can get good deals on food and drink. It’s very close to the city centre so very easy to get other things like food. The new buildings are great social spaces, but EMB building is a bit old and lacking in appearance. Other than that it’s a decent university

We love everything that we have on offer for our students - we have lots of cafes dotted around our campuses which all offer great deals to make sure our students have plenty of choice of what to eat and drink while on campus. We have our Hallam Eats app too which offers extra deals! Some of our buildings are older than others, but all have great facilities. I have had an amazing stay at the forge. There is always plenty to do with regular events. The staff are always on hand to help with any questions. I’m very close to the uni and and i couldn’t have picked a better place

Well-designed, hold good events for International students

There are loads to do around the forge such as playing pool or table tennis. Or even a half basketball court

We love all that Sheffield has to offer - it is one of the most affordable cities for students, and is very student friendly. There are also lots of green spaces which are nice such as the Winter gardens, the Botanical gardens and plenty of parks too. University is also a great opportunity to meet new people and we have lots of great accomodation options where you can meet many people. Sheffield Hallam is an excellent university, however overpriced.

I had a great stay here the accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout. It’s in a convenient location and the overall experience was welcoming and stress-free.

The university is really big and close to the train station, which is super convenient. Everyone is very welcoming, even on campus

Could be more range of societies not centred around drinking so much as a lot of not interested in that are kind of pointless. Students union don’t really know much about but heard it’s not necessarily great. Overall though everything is good.

We try to have as many societies as possible, and we have some societies which hold sober socials too. Our academic societies especially hold more sober socials, but we still have some others which do too. However, we are always looking to improve and add more societies so if you think of any you want to start please fill in this form or talk to our SU and they can help with this. WiFi can be hit and miss in a few areas however, collegiate campus is amazing with many facilities to use such as the library and gym. The societies are extremely welcoming.

Overall a good campus despite some buildings being a bit outdated.

very friendly uni, staff & students. i often find difficulties with printers & machinery being out of order in HPO, which makes it difficult to complete work. i think there could be a great improvement on career help with more in depth meetings with careers staff, as well as more of an interest from staff themselves.
I studied at Derby Uni and quit - Sheffield Hallam has so many more support networks and is much better suited for me! Would recommend to ANYONE!

The campus is lovely and scenic

We are so proud of our lovely campuses - they are both in great locations and are near to shops, cafes, restaurants and bars! Our City campus is also right next to the train and bus stations which makes it very easy for our students who commute too. Both of our campuses have a great range of facilities too, both have a 24 hour library, plenty of social and study areas and laptops, books and computers to use and rent! Sheffield Hallam University has been an excellent place to study, offering a really supportive and engaging student experience. The teaching staff are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed. Lecturers are always willing to provide extra support, whether it’s academic guidance, feedback, or career advice. The facilities are modern and well maintained, especially the libraries, study spaces, and specialist course equipment. There are plenty of quiet areas for focused study as well as collaborative spaces for group work, which makes learning much more flexible and enjoyable. One of the biggest positives of SHU is how career-focused the courses are. The university places a strong emphasis on employability, placements, and real-world skills, which helps students feel prepared for life after graduation. Its generally okay, the wifi is quite bad but there are good deals in SU cafes

I love to stay here, it's near market and station

The student union is basically a club for people wanting to get something extra on their CV and no longer embodies the spirit of a union and the facilities are good enough to not need new expensive buildings built

Sheffield Hallam University has been an overall good experience as a first year as the staff are all mostly good at teaching here. Campus is great since all my classes are within walking distance with going to different buildings. The new business building, Langsett, is great as there's everything you could possibly need especially since there's cafe which is very convenient. Just wish the wifi could be better around campus because in certain places it can't be accessed sometimes. I hope there is going to be a better student union as the current one isn't very inviting or used very often.

As an international student, I booked Pinnacles without seeing it in person and expected the room to be small because of the affordable price—but it turned out to be much bigger and more beautiful than I imagined. The space is modern, clean, and really feels like home. There are lots of social activities that make living here fun, and the common room is stunning. I love the free cinema and all the amenities that come with the accommodation. My favorite part is definitely the free breakfast—such a thoughtful touch! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the whole environment feels safe and welcoming. Pinnacles has truly exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it!

Connection is not very good in some parts of campus. But the facilities are good, campus is close. The club's are good but a little expensive.

Sheffield Hallam has been a brilliant university experience for me — the teaching is engaging and supportive, the campus is modern and easy to navigate, and there’s always someone available to help whether it’s academic support, wellbeing services, or career advice. The facilities are really impressive, especially the study spaces and labs, and the city itself is friendly, affordable, and full of things to do. I’ve grown so much during my time here and genuinely feel that Hallam provides a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to succeed. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone considering studying here.

We pride ourselevs on the lovely options we have for our students and we love that we can guarantee all of our first years a room in one of our halls of residence too. We have three great teams of support that our students can access – a student support team, an academic advisory team and an employability team. We are so proud of the community we have created here - our staff work so hard to ensure that every student gets the most out of their time here at Hallam, and the SU work really hard to put on fun events that our students will enjoy!
