WiFi is good throughout buildings
Hi there, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear about your time at Hallam so far! We pride ourselves on our lovely buildings and how accessible they are for students, which includes ensuring the WiFi is good for everyone! It is especially great in all of our new buildings and we have so many great study spots for our students too. If anyone is ever having any technical issues, our IT support team are always there to help you and are constantly monitering things like WiFi to ensure it is good for our students! Love the university and social aspects

Our student union is very helpful and works hard to ensure all students are happy and get what they need from university. They are there if anyone needs it and always champions our students. It’s a good university. Really good location

Very good university, teachers are amazing and all so friendly

Overall. Good experience of the uni

We love hearing from our students and we try so hard to ensure that every one is happy. Our tutors are great and they pride themselves on ensuring that everyone has the best experience they can here at Hallam. They are always happy to help, and we were also recently awarded ‘TEF gold’ for our teaching standards which was a great achievement. Our SU works hard too making sure there are lots of great events for our students! We have been to other cities, to theme parks, ice hockey matches and so much more! All the staff are lovely and my seminar tutors are great. The help desk is always handy. As far as I’m aware the students union is being moved somewhere else so there isn’t much there right now but I haven’t actually been told anything by the uni

Great uni great course great city!

Campus is quiet nice and really easy to get to the town centre and to the other buildings

We love both of our campuses and how close they are to the city centre. Our City campus is located right in the centre of town, just next to the train and bus station which is very handy! Our Collegiate campus is just off Ecclesall Road which is a lively student area full of bars, shops restaurants! It’s also only a 20 minute walk into the middle of town so still very close by! We have lots of lovely buildings too and we are so excited that our new buildings are now open for all of our students to enjoy! Most is good, toilets need to be cleaned more frequently

We have created a lovely community here and it is always lovely to hear from our students. I’m sorry that you have found some of our toilets to be messy at times. Our staff work so hard to stay on top of everything like this, but if you have noticed that they are particularly bad in certain buildings or floors, please do let us know so that we can look into this and sort this out for you. Sheffield Hallam university is great place to study. Lecturers are very friendly and open to help with any inquiries students may have. There is also Hallam help that helps with general questions that one may have. There’s a great library both online and in campuses that allow for great student learning experiences. They offer events that allow to progress in academics and many more.

Staff are lovely, the buildings are fairly easy to locate, just had some new buildings on campus for this year such as Langsett which is stunning! All the students i’ve spoken to are friendly and polite.

Best uni nd best place to live

Great university experience through all three years.

The WiFi is not the greatest but that’s about it.

Our wifi should be strong enough for all students and staff to be on it and for it to work, so if you are struggling with this it may be a good idea to go to Hallam Help or speak to IT as they should be able to help you with this so that you can access it as you should be able to. Amazing accomodation with friendly and sociable staff

loved living here!! staff are so kind and welcoming and very helpful whenever I have a problem. Close to supermarkets and cafes for studying, so perfect location for student life.

We love all of the options we have for our students in terms of accommodation. All of our halls have great facilities and are in walking distance of at least one of our campuses which is great. They often have shops nearby which makes it very convenient too! There is a lot of societies but none that i personally like.

Students are also more than welcome to pitch an idea for a new society and then start one if they have enough people! We love it when people think of new ideas - we recently started a rounders society based on our student’s feedback and this has been really popular and is going into its second year this year! I'm in my final year of UNI now. Every year has been amazing and I have learnt so much. I have especially learnt a lot about the industry I will hopefully be getting into! Theres so many places to go to study when I have freetime and also plenty of events to attend! Overall love it here and would do it all again!

We place a large focus here on applied learning which means our students learn a lot about the industry they will be entering and they get to apply some of this in their work too which is very helpful when it comes to applying for jobs and also when you start a job after uni! Good University, especially with the new buildings like Redmires it is a lot more homey and motivating to revise with the new study areas. The city campus has a great location with its vicinity to the city centre and places like the Cambridge street collective. And the collegiate campus is located in a nice green area not too far from the centre

cant connect to the wifi while at uni

I definitely recommend SHU to anyone who wants to come to university wether it’s as far or as little away from home it’s a good experience and you can meet new people, join different societies and clubs if you wanted too, and have a totally unreal experience! With ups and down too it but that’s uni life.

Collegiate campus is very open and full of life. I personally love the nature and outside spaces

Sheffield Hallam is a lovely place to go to university, it has a caring atmosphere and people in place to help you in almost anything you need. The city itself is a very good location as it’s a big city but not as big as Manchester or London so feels less intimidating.

So far university has been great. The teachers have been very kind, helpful and informative. Also, the facilities that they have there are incredible. I am very happy with the whole experience.

It is a Very good accommodation

We pride ourselves on the accommodation options that we can offer to ourstudents. We have a great range of affordable halls for our students to choose from which are modern and well looked after.We have great staff running each accommodation too, to make sure you feel happy and safe there, and like it is a home from home! Very good!! Very convenient as its near city centre

Overall, my experience at the university has been positive. The campus and facilities are well-maintained and meet most of the needs for both academic and social life. There’s a decent selection of clubs and societies to get involved in, although nothing too outstanding. The Students' Union is okay — it serves its purpose but doesn’t particularly stand out in terms of engagement or activities. The Careers Service offers reasonable support, especially when it comes to graduate job opportunities and guidance for further studies. One consistent plus has been the internet connection, which is strong and reliable across most areas of the campus. It’s great for both work and downtime.

I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t had a good experience with strikes this year. We try our best to limit the strike action as much as possible, as to not affect student’s learning. I love studying at SHU. the support from staff is outstanding and the facilities are great. the WiFi accross campus could be better but i generally have no complaints about anything. everyone is so kind and supportive I love it here.

I've loved my first year at Hallam. The SU isn't the strongest - especially considering we've just lost the SU building due to financial difficulties however this does not stop societies and there are many welcoming clubs to join at Hallam. The lecturing team are all very friendly and supportive and the campus is a good place to learn.

The campuses has a lot of place to study outside of the library which is good. The library is still in construction so sometimes it is a bit loud and it's very cold inside. This needs improvement.

Great accommodation , great atmosphere and vibe

My experience at Sheffield Hallam University has been, frankly, disheartening. While I arrived with enthusiasm and high expectations for academic and personal growth, what I encountered instead was a system that often prioritizes financial gain over student well-being and integrity. From the beginning, there were red flags—misleading communications from overseas agents, inconsistent support systems, and an environment that, at times, felt transactional rather than transformational. For an institution that markets itself as student-focused, the lived reality often tells a very different story. Academic engagement felt shallow, and support services that were promised—especially to international students—often lacked follow-through. In moments of stress or need, the response was frequently bureaucratic and cold, rather than empathetic or solution-oriented. Staff are friendly and helpful

Our staff work hard to ensure that all students are happy here and get everything they need out of their time at Hallam! Our tutors pride themselves on making sure that all students are happy and confident in their work and will answer all of the questions you need so that you do as well as you possibly can! We also received 'TEF gold' for our teaching standard which was a great achievement and reflects the effort our staff put in! We have a great support system for our students too - we have support staff, employabiloty advisors and academic advisors for all of our students too which is nice for all of our students to know. Average uni but the and facilities could be a lot better

I am sorry to hear that you have been disapointed by the facilities that we have on offer at Hallam. We think that we have a great array of facilities here, such as our libraries and course specific facilities such as our labs and moot court. We will have lots more great facilities when our new buildings open soon too which is really exciting and you may find that these are better for your course. All of our staff and students are friendly and welcoming and will help you with anything you may need help with. We have a great support system for our students here. Every student has access to three teams of support - an academic advisory team, a student support team and an employability team. They are there to help you with anything you need help with and will always be there for you. Our tutors are great too and will always be there to help you with work when you need it. I love Sheffield Hallam, it feels like they really care for their students, there are really good facilities and lots of extra curricular clubs and events to go to. I love the surrounding green spaces, restaurants and bars which all add to the university experience!

They put on 'give it a go' events every so often so students can try something new and we have over 80 societies too! Sheffield itself is a great place for students. Everything is perfect in the campus

We pride ourselves on the lovely community that we have created here of staff and students so it is great to hear that this has been the case for you. We love both of our campuses - we have two lovely campuses, both of which are really close to the city centre and our halls of residence. Our city campus is right next to the train station and is right in the centre of town and our collegiate campus is just off Ecclesall Road which is only around a 20 minuite walk from the city centre. Both have great facilties such as our 24 hour libraries and great course specific facilities and we will have even more when our new buildings open which is really exciting! Thank you again. OK university with a lack of study spaces but good lecturers

We are really proud of all of our buildings and the study spaces we offer, but there will also be lots more available when our new buildings open in the new academic year which will be really exciting and will open up lots more options for you. Our lecturers work really hard to make sure that all students are happy and confident in their work. We have loads of great staff who are always there to answer any questions you may have and support you in all aspects of your work. We love all of the options that we have available for our students in terms of accommodation. All of our accommodation is clean and well looked after, and most of them have en-suites too. We are so happy that we can guarantee all of our students a room in one of our halls as this takes some of the stress of coming to university away as you know you will have a room with other Hallam students in our popular student areas.
