Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! I am so happy to hear that you have had such a positive experience at SHU with us so far! We have created a lovely community here, with both staff and students being willing to help and very friendly which is so nice for new students. Our staff pride themselves on creating a great learning environment so all students feel they are learning everything they need to and are always supported by tutors and other students so they can always ask any questions they have. We have lots of things on offer if you are looking for something new to try – have you tried any of our societies? These are great ways of doing something fun and meeting lots of new people at the same time and the socials are great too! There is something for everyone and it is worth checking out! Or, our student union often puts ‘give it a go events’ on. These are great to try new things, and we have been to places such as London, York or theme parks. We also sometimes go to ice hockey matches to watch the Steelers which is always great fun. We also have varsity coming up and this is always loved by students as it is a lot of fun and everybody really gets involved! Thank you again for your review, Best wishes, Lucy :)

We have lots of great options for accommodation for our students and all of them are safe and are trusted by us. We have more information on this on our accommodation page and every accommodation has photos and more information such as how long the walk to Uni is. We make sure that all our halls have great staff to ensure all students are safe and well looked after! I am very glad this has been your experience. I think that the university has great facilities and the staff are very helpful

Our staff pride themselves on ensuring that they provide the best experience and teaching for their students, so I am really glad to hear your time here has been so positive so far. All of our tutors are always happy to help and will answer any questions that any student has. We have created a lovely working environment here and students feel confident to ask questions as they know it will always be taken seriously and answered well. We have also been awarded TEF Gold for our teaching standard which was nice as it acknowledged all of our tutor’s hard work. We are proud of the great range of facilities we have here on offer for our students. We have two 24-hour libraries, lots of classrooms and study areas for our students to use, as well as computers and laptops which students can use at Uni and rent out too. We also have great course-specific facilities such as our labs and our moot court. We will have even more facilities when our new buildings open up soon which is really exciting! Collegiate campus is unbelievable
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! I am so glad that you are enjoying your experience here with us at Hallam so far. We try and make every student’s experience as great as possible, so I am glad this has been the case for you. We love that both of our campuses are in such great locations – our city campus is right next to the train and bus stations in town and our Collegiate campus is just off Ecclesall Road which is a lively student area with lots to do. Have you tried some of the cafes and restaurants around Collegiate campus? We have lots of university cafes but there are also lots of lovely independent cafes and places to eat and drink around the Uni too which our students love! Our Collegiate campus is also home to most of our sports societies so if you haven’t already, I would really recommend checking these out! We have so many great members of staff who ensure they are well looked after, and the students are happy and safe. I have had so much help from both the university and the people that attend. I especially have had a lot of help from the Careers team with my next steps and deciding what I want to do and where I want to go for my placement year.

We strive to make sure every student is happy and gets the most out of their university experience at Hallam. We have created a really lovely community here and all staff and students are always willing to help anyone that needs it! We also are proud of the amount of support we can offer our students - we have three different advisors available for our students: an academic advisor, an employability advisor and a student support advisor and all of our students find this really helpful. Our careers team is always happy to help our students with help from placements to graduate jobs to CV help! To be honest I don’t really know what the union does so it could do better to express their actions

Clubs are a great way to make friends by forcing you to interact with people u don’t know. Everyone is do friendly and welcoming including second years and third years

Great university but improvements could be made to the student union

The experiences and environment provided by SHU are amazing, and I love the way I have been made to feel at home and included. There are also great facilities provided for my course, and many online platforms free to use.

Been here almost 2 semesters and haven’t seen or heard from any career advisor or academic advisor. Most of the WiFi connections don’t work so I have to hotspot from my phone. If you don’t do a main stream sport there’s no societies for you
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am sorry that some of your experience here has not been what you (or we) would have hoped for. Firstly, you should have been assigned an academic advisor and they do usually get in contact with you about making an appointment. However, this is sometimes up to the student to make an appointment if they have any concerns or questions that need answering. This page should have some more information about making an appointment. You should also have a careers advisor who will be happy to chat to you too if you make an appointment with them! The WIFI should work around campus, and we have one for students and one for guests. However, if this has not been working for you it may be worth talking to Hallam Help about this as there may be a specific problem they can fix for you. In terms of societies, our SU tries to ensure there are a variety of societies for all students. IF there is something specific you might like to see next year, fill in this feedback form as they are always looking for new ideas and feedback and if there is enough interest they may be able to make something happen! Our staff have created a lovely environment where they are always happy to help anybody that needs it, so I am glad this has been reflected in your experience. We try and make sure that every student has all of the support they may need and any tutors are aways happy to answer any questions and help out. All students also have access to three teams of support – an employability team, a student support team and an academic advisory team and students are encouraged to make appointments with these at any times if they feel they need any help at all. We also try and provide as many helpful resources as we can. We have lots of great resources available in our libraries which are always there for students to look at and use, and we have lots of great facilities for students too. Good atmosphere and facilities for social and academic purposes

Our staff are always there to help, and we have lots of lovely students here too. We have great facilities here which is great for our students. We have lots of course specific facilities, such as our moot court and mock hospital wards, and also lots of general facilities such as laptops to rent and study rooms. We will have even more great facilities when our new buildings open soon! We try and ensure that all students enjoy the social side of being here too. Sheffield Hallam is a great university it has a lot of social societies and the facilities are great

university is improving their structure but they need to improve their internet and focus on social interaction of students and sports

Our internet should work around the campus, and we have WIFI for guests and students which usually works well. If you are having problems with this, it may be worth talking to Hallam Help as they may be able to help solve this problem for you. Sheffield Hallam is a fantastic place to study if you’re looking for a university that balances academic learning with real-world experience. One of the best things about Hallam is its focus on employability—most courses include placements, guest lectures from industry professionals, and opportunities to work on real projects. It definitely makes you feel like you're preparing for life after uni, not just studying for the sake of it.

We do have a very strong applied learning focus here and try and ensure that all students get as much real-world experience as they can which always goes down well with students. We are always planning for people to come in and talk to our students, trips for students to go on or talks about placement opportunities. We also have a very dedicated employability team who are always there to help our students find part time work, placements or work after uni. As an international student, Sheffield Hallam University has been an amazing place to learn. The campus is state-of-the-art, fully furnished, and offers first-rate resources for education and recreation. There are numerous opportunities to meet new people and pursue a variety of interests thanks to the abundance of organizations and associations. A lively student community is fostered by the Students' Union, which is very involved and helpful. The careers office is outstanding and provides helpful advice for internships, placements, and potential employment opportunities. Furthermore, the WiFi is dependable and quick, which makes studying and online activities easy. All things considered, Sheffield Hallam offers an amazing educational experience, and I heartily endorse it to anyone thinking about pursuing higher education here

The university is a nice place to go. I've made a lot of friends here that I know are going to be life friends. the materials that I study are good. I feel like they could be better in terms of being supported by staff and by making sure that they communicate changes without being sprung on us. I did not like that they changed the course and modules at the end of my 2nd year, meaning that everything was new for my last year. They did not even know what they would teach us and did not communicate with us what the changes were which made me super anxious and nervous. Apart from that. everything is perfect. Thank you

We went through some big changes to our modules and courses at the end of the last academic year and I am sorry that these were not communicated to you in the way you would have liked and expected. Our staff will always be happy to talk you through these changes and why they have occurred if you would like, or they will ensure in future to communicate better with you about this. Our staff are great overall at making sure all students are happy, and they are always there to help. They put a lot of effort into lectures and seminars, so I am glad you have found the study materials to be of a good standard. I am also happy to hear that you have made some lovely friends here. Great campus good weather everything perfect

We love that both of our campuses are in such great locations close to the city and lots of other amenities. Our city campus is right next to the train and bus stations in town, as well as shops and cafes etc and our Collegiate campus is just of Eccelsall Road which is a great student area with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants! We are also fortunate to have lots of green spaces near our campuses – we have the peace gardens in town and the botanical gardens and Endcliffe park near Collegiate which are great for those sunny days! As an international student, my experience at this university has been amazing. The professors are knowledgeable and supportive, and the campus is diverse and welcoming. The facilities are excellent, and there are plenty of opportunities for academic and personal growth. I truly feel valued and supported in my studies here.

Great facilities for AHP professions, approachable academic team

So glad I picked SHU the course is honestly one of the best in the country got me straight into a massive million pound company in the head office working in finance. Also Sheffield is ridiculously cheap compared to other cities so can have great accommodation, eat out every week and travel still while saving.

Living at Cosmos Student Accommodation has been an amazing experience! The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-equipped with everything a student needs. The communal areas, including the study spaces and gym, create a great balance between work and relaxation. The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready to help with any concerns. The location is perfect, with easy access to universities, shops, and public transport. I highly recommend Cosmos to any student looking for a comfortable and supportive place to live!

Great university outstanding tutors. I feel it’s hard to find support on getting part time job or internships but maybe that’s because I am first year.

It’s a lovely campus with a lot of space to study

We love the location of both of our campuses and how close they are to the city centre. Our city campus is right in the heart of the city and is right next to the train and bus station which is great for our students and especially our students who commute! Our collegiate campus is right next to the centre and is on Ecclesall Road which is a lively student area with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. We also love how many study and social spaces we have around our campuses. We will have even more when our new buildings open which is really exciting! a variety of social events from societies and great facilities. great support within the departments lecturers specialising in but general affairs such as asking questions about a masters or transferring universities are not so great. would reccommend

Rockingham House is situated at the heart of city centre, making it an extra value for money. The staff are professional and are always ready to assist anytime. There is weekly social activities that assist students from varying cultural background to bond. Great experience so far!

The University of Sheffield has been a great fit for me. The campus is beautiful, with a mix of modern buildings and green spaces, making it a really pleasant place to study and relax. I’ve found the academic programs to be strong and the professors are passionate about what they do. The city of Sheffield is friendly, affordable, and has plenty to offer in terms of culture and outdoor activities.

I love hallam - everywhere you go (physically or digitally) has such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I am part of multiple societies which provide many opportunities to grow as a person as well as meet others. The campuses are so different yet so nice, with beautiful, old architecture on collegiate campus and a more modern look at city campus - both feel safe and warm, and both have fully equipped gyms and sports facilities! The union holds many events and things to get involved in and you can tell it is run by students as everything is student-focused, relatable and genuinely helpful and enriching. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.

We have loads of great sports teams and societies here which is always so popular with our students. We have a range of teams, from competition teams to just social ones so there really is something for everyone. Our Collegiate campus is great for our sport teams and we have lots of great facilities there. We love both of our campuses how well equipped they are for our students – we have two 24-hour libraries, laptops and computers to rent and great course-specific facilities such as our moot court and mock wards. I study mostly in Charles street. Everything is very accessible and the social spaces are good and there is lots of them. The lecture halls around the university are comfortable and you can hear the lecturers clearly from the back. The rooms are also comfortable, and are big enough for large groups for seminars. The union runs different events, such as a guide dog event that is happening today, which engage students and introduce them to different opportunities.

Everything is really quite good, but of course every now and then there are some issues. But nothing has issues for too long and they're very good at improving things.

I love studying at hallam, colligate campus is near shops, a short distance from town and has lots of study areas and a great cafe. The lecturers are helpful and the student support / disabled student support is great. They are very accommodating to needs of students and the students union is great for help. The only downsides for me are that lecturers do seem to want to finish quickly and often skip over key points so i often have to take notes after the lecture or seminar instead of during. What i am most annoyed at is that hallam endorse my student accommodation (the pinnacles) and it has been an absolute nightmare with no heating in winter, sewage leaks, mould, damp, overflowing bin stores with not enough bins, vermin, silverfish and out of date electrical tests as well as electrical problems. Hallam endorsing an accommodation with all these issues and the lack of care from the manager shocks me, hallam really need to look into the student housing and take action.

Good uni with some great opportunities available

On many courses we offer trips of some kind to enhance our students’ learning experiences which has always been popular with our students. There is also lots of support and help opportunities. We also offer lots of support to our students and every student has access to three teams of support with us – an academic advisor, an employability advisor and a student support advisor which is great for our students. We also make sure we have lots of events on and over 80 societies for our students to join. Our Student Union also often outs on ‘give it a go’ events where students can try something fun that they haven’t done before – we have been to Alton Towers, Ice hockey matches and trips to London! City campus is conveniently located in the city centre

We love that both of our campuses are in such a great location and are so close to the city centre. Our city campus is located right in the centre of town, near the train and bus station s which is great for our students that commute! Our collegiate campus is located just off Ecclesall Road which is a lively student area with lots of bars, restaurants and shops! Lots of our students choose to live there in their second and third years too which makes it a great area. We have lots of great facilities for our students too – we have two 24-hour libraries as well as computers and laptops to rent and just great general study and social spaces. Good university great for sporting and great for my course

We have loads of great sports teams and societies here which is always so popular with our students. We have a range of teams, from competition teams to just social ones so there really is something for everyone. Our Collegiate campus is great for our sport teams and we have lots of great facilities there. Our lecturers pride themselves on creating interesting but informative lectures and seminars for our students to ensure that everyone is getting the most out of their course and learning everything they need to. Good uni but student union isn’t good as nothing to do looks bad not good societies

In terms of our student union, I am sorry that you haven’t had the best experience with this. We have over 80 societies which caters to most of our student body, however if there are any others that you would like to be considered for the future, please fill in this form as our SU is always looking for feedback. Our SU has been putting on more events, with their ‘give it a go’ events becoming more popular with our students. The university itself is very good however the bar within the students union should be opened again as it will bring lots more students together!

The campus is huge and really pretty.

We love that both of our campuses are so close to the city centre - our City campus is right in the middle of town, as well as being close to the bus and train stations and our Collegiate campus is just outside of town located on Ecclesall Road which is a lively student area! Upper management of this university is poor but lectures make good efforts to provide good education

The Forge is a great accommodation, is a good location as it’s a close walk to Uni as well as just going to the shop. it’s also really easy and comfortable place to socialise.
