My experience at Trigon has been amazing, the staffs have been so helpful and easing into this lifestyle has been fun as an international student.

All of our accommodation is great, so I am glad that you have had such a good experience living at the Trigon! We guarantee all of our first-year students a room in one of our halls of residence so you will always be living with other Hallam students which we think is great. Great in all aspects, perfect location.

We love that both of our campuses are so close to the city centre, and we think that they are in a perfect location, so I am glad that you think this too! We are so close to the train and bus station, which is great for our students who commute, as well as all of our students when they are going home. Our collegiate campus is also right next to Ecclesall Road which is a great student area! We also have our new buildings opening in the new year which is also in a great location right next to the train station, and this will be great! I have been here for a while and it has the basics of everything. I help to run a society and I wish I had a bit more support on how I run everything.

I have gone here for over a year now and the location is great and the staff are friendly, ive never really taken part in social events or used the social space but the facilities are good and when ever I have any issues, they are sorted out quickly.

We also have our Hallam Help team who are there to help students with any questions or problems. We are really proud of Hallam, we have a great student union which is very helpful and works hard to ensure all students are happy and get what they need from university. They are there if anyone needs it and always champions our students. Our SU also put on lots of events throughout the year which are always really popular with students, such as theme park trips and trips to other cities! All of our staff pride themselves on teaching all students to a very high standard and ensuring that everyone gets the best grades that they possibly can do. They are available to answer any questions that students have and are really helpful. We also have lots of support available for students – each student has access to a student support team, an academic advisory team and an employability team which you can talk to whenever you need to! We also love that both of our campuses are so close to the city centre and in walking distance of lots of fun things in the city. We are also right next to the train and bus station which is ideal too. There are lots of communal and social spaces around our buildings which is nice as there are always students there together! Good transport links to campus and buildings are easy to find

Sheffield Hallam University is a pretty good place to study at, if you're looking for a place where you can walk easily around and do stuff and you're also kinda broke, I would recommend you come here! Plus we have a cool app called SHUBetter and the discussion section is so funny. It's not even endorsed by the uni lol. The original university app SHUGo was so bad, one of the computing students just created an entirely new app to use instead and now everyone in the uni uses that. So yeah, we have that, we got some cool modern buildings too as well I guess.

Clean and up to date facilities

Amazing 10/10. Would recommend for first years

good spaces on campus to study

We have so many nice buildings across the two campuses and as well as the library, we love that there are so many spaces that students can sit and study! Some of our most popular spaces for studying are Cantor and Charles street which are both really nice buildings in the City campus. So far I'm liking my course but their is some political bias in lessons

All of our tutors pride themselves in delivering great lectures and seminars and ensuring that all students get the best experience and grades possible! I am sorry to hear that there has been some political bias in your lessons. Our tutors are always open to feedback to better your experince, so you could always talk to them or email them about this as they will do their best to ensure this stops happening. Campus and facilities are really good, it's just the library looking a bit dated and worn out. The SU does a really good job at representing student interests to the university but unfortunately there aren't too many events (a shame because the other uni in the city has a huge SU with loads and we do have some decent facilities which could be better used) and some facilities like the SU restaurant have closed and never reopened since Covid. There are a number of societies but not that many for the size of the uni. The careers service is very active and involved. Campus WiFi is very fast inside buildings but there's no coverage outside even when surrounded by uni buildings (unlike uni of) and they have a weird policy of blocking third-party DNS servers for some reason.

We also have a new building which will be opening in the new year and courses will slowly start moving over there which is very exciting! I'm also glad that you have found the careers service helpful - they are great and always try and help everybody as much as they can which is really nice when you are at University. I am sorry that you have found the library to be a bit dated - we have two libraries here and the Adsetts library is a bit more modern and bigger than Collegiate library due to Collegiate being an older building! I am also sorry to hear about your experince with the SU. Our student union is always looking for feedback and ways to improve so you could fill out this form and let them know your feedback abour putting more events on! I study Film and TV at SHU. SHU is a fantastic university. It's got industry standard equipment and lots and lots of it so you very rarely cant book something out. The staff are good and course leaders are on it, knowing what to do with years of experience for a variety of scenarios. The building is fantastic and modern in a prime location next to the train station.

Sheffield Hallam is a perfect university. The facilities are brilliant and the lecturers there are informative, kind, and incredibly helpful.
I am so glad you have had such a positive experience at Sheffield Hallam, it's really nice to hear brilliant things about the university. I agree that the facilities are great and i also think that both campuses are in great locations. We also have a new building which is opening in January: https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/university-life/departments-schools-and-centres-moving-to-new-buildings-on-city-campus and courses are going to slowly start moving over there which is really exciting. From the mock ups it looks great and I think the facilities will be even better over there. I am glad you have had a good experience with your lecturers too - I have always found mine great and really helpful so I am happy to hear this has been your experience too! Nice university and top notch university to study at
I'm happy to hear that you have been enjoying your time at Hallam and have found it a good university to study at. I agree that it is a great place to study and I think that the teaching and facilities are great too. We also have our new building opening in January 2025 which will have really good facilities and should enhance student's experience even more while they are at the University https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/university-life/departments-schools-and-centres-moving-to-new-buildings-on-city-campus which I think will be great. Good loving life in Sheffield and at hallam
Hi there - thank you for taking the time to leave a review! I am glad you have been enjoing being in Sheffield and at Hallam. I think that the city has so much to offer and is a great place to live! I would recommend trying out climbing if you haven't already - Sheffield has one of the largets concentration of climbers in the UK and there are so many great indoor climbing spots. Or, I also really love going to the peak district and going on walks theer so if you are looking for something new to do this is a great idea! Transport links are great too and getting into the peak district is quite easy! SHU also has a free guide to the city if you wanted to know even more things that have been recommended by other students and it is great! Good Uni, makes me feel very safe
Hi - thank you for leaving a review! I am really happy to hear that you feel very safe here at Hallam. Sheffield is reported to be one of the safest large cities in the UK and I have also always felt very safe here too. The univeristy also takes lots of precautions to ensure students are safe and they have a dedicated student support team who help students with any issues that they are having. The University accomodations are safe too and there are a variety of these which are close to both campuses so you wouldn't have to walk too far home after lectures which is important at this time of year when it is getting dark so early! Friendly Staff and enjoyable societies
Hi there! I'm glad to hear that you have enjoyed being part of societies at Sheffield Hallam and have had a great experince with the staff here! I also really like the range of societes here and had a great experince as part of a social sports team as i found it fun but not too competitive which was good for me. I also have found the staff here to be really friendly and it's just a friendly city in general. Great university very good for support when needed

We work hard to make sure all students are happy so please put any suggestions in this form so our staff can take them on board! We have our student night on a Wednesday (Hallam nation) which is really popular with our students. It is at Crystal and everyone loves it! Our SU also works hard to put on a variety of great events where you can meet lots of new people and try new things. We have been to Alton Towers, London, York, Steelers games to name a few. Very good location (about 20 minute walk to uni and 5 minute walk to city centre). Very good value for money because it has alot of facilities such as washing machines and a cinema room.

I liked my last contract so much I stayed as a second year resident this September. Spacious kitchen, very good room layout. Facilities are always in hand (I.e, washing). The reception staff are kind and helpful.

Sheffield Hallam University has really good facilities as well as easy to access help in case of any academic year difficulties or problems, the student support team give really great advice as well as quickly link you to professionals to deal with your worries. The library has really great sources and as well as easy to download textbooks, research resources, old research results process to help you with your assignments or thesis / dissertation without having to spend fortunes on the textbooks. The tutor are really great at going over the topics of course and if any questions they ready to help anytime, they are really friendly and easy to get along as well as the tutor reply to emails very soon to their best of abilities.

Stayed here for 2 years and it’s genuinely the best accommodation in Sheffield.

The academic staff are generally helpful and the coursework is engaging, though there are occasional lapses in administrative efficiency. The campus facilities are decent but some areas could use updating. Socially, Sheffield offers a lively atmosphere with plenty of activities and a supportive student community. Accommodation is affordable but varies in quality. Overall, it's a good university experience with both strengths and areas for improvement.

Great university staff are great

I am currently studying in my second year at Sheffield Hallam. I have found everything so easy to access on the universities blackboard site and the support from my course leaders has been excellent. Every university building is so close together, making it an easy journey between lectures and seminars. The buildings are very modern with comfortable setting and a reliable WiFi connection for completing assignments. Hallam is a great university for all and I am enjoying my time here so much!

moved here in January 2024. it’s been an great experience residing here. All the amenities are nicely maintained by the staff.
