Campus and facilities are really good, it's just the library looking a bit dated and worn out. The SU does a really good job at representing student interests to the university but unfortunately there aren't too many events (a shame because the other uni in the city has a huge SU with loads and we do have some decent facilities which could be better used) and some facilities like the SU restaurant have closed and never reopened since Covid. There are a number of societies but not that many for the size of the uni. The careers service is very active and involved. Campus WiFi is very fast inside buildings but there's no coverage outside even when surrounded by uni buildings (unlike uni of) and they have a weird policy of blocking third-party DNS servers for some reason.
Hi there - thank you for taking the time to leave us a review :) Firstly, I am glad that you have found the campus and facilities to be really good - we are really proud of all of our buildings and the facilities that they offer. We also have a new building which will be opening in the new year and courses will slowly start moving over there which is very exciting! I'm also glad that you have found the careers service helpful - they are great and always try and help everybody as much as they can which is really nice when you are at University. I am sorry that you have found the library to be a bit dated - we have two libraries here and the Adsetts library is a bit more modern and bigger than Collegiate library due to Collegiate being an older building! I am also sorry to hear about your experince with the SU. Our student union is always looking for feedback and ways to improve so you could fill out this form and let them know your feedback abour putting more events on! I study Film and TV at SHU. SHU is a fantastic university. It's got industry standard equipment and lots and lots of it so you very rarely cant book something out. The staff are good and course leaders are on it, knowing what to do with years of experience for a variety of scenarios. The building is fantastic and modern in a prime location next to the train station.

All of our staff are great and are really dedicated to making sure that every student who comes to Hallam achieves the best grades that they possibly can and has the best experibce here. We also were recently awarded TEF gold for our teaching standard which was nice as it shows all of our hard work pays off! We love both of our campuses and that they are so close to the city centre and particularly the city campus which is right next to the train station. We also have a new building opening in 2025 which is very exciting as this looks great and it will have loads of great facilities in it! Sheffield Hallam is a perfect university. The facilities are brilliant and the lecturers there are informative, kind, and incredibly helpful.
I am so glad you have had such a positive experience at Sheffield Hallam, it's really nice to hear brilliant things about the university. I agree that the facilities are great and i also think that both campuses are in great locations. We also have a new building which is opening in January: https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/university-life/departments-schools-and-centres-moving-to-new-buildings-on-city-campus and courses are going to slowly start moving over there which is really exciting. From the mock ups it looks great and I think the facilities will be even better over there. I am glad you have had a good experience with your lecturers too - I have always found mine great and really helpful so I am happy to hear this has been your experience too! Another thing that I think is good is that we have three different advisors as they have helped me with so many things throughout my time at university. - Lucy :)
Nice university and top notch university to study at
I'm happy to hear that you have been enjoying your time at Hallam and have found it a good university to study at. I agree that it is a great place to study and I think that the teaching and facilities are great too. We also have our new building opening in January 2025 which will have really good facilities and should enhance student's experience even more while they are at the University https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/university-life/departments-schools-and-centres-moving-to-new-buildings-on-city-campus which I think will be great. Good loving life in Sheffield and at hallam
Hi there - thank you for taking the time to leave a review! I am glad you have been enjoing being in Sheffield and at Hallam. I think that the city has so much to offer and is a great place to live! I would recommend trying out climbing if you haven't already - Sheffield has one of the largets concentration of climbers in the UK and there are so many great indoor climbing spots. Or, I also really love going to the peak district and going on walks theer so if you are looking for something new to do this is a great idea! Transport links are great too and getting into the peak district is quite easy! Good Uni, makes me feel very safe
Hi - thank you for leaving a review! I am really happy to hear that you feel very safe here at Hallam. Sheffield is reported to be one of the safest large cities in the UK and I have also always felt very safe here too. The univeristy also takes lots of precautions to ensure students are safe and they have a dedicated student support team who help students with any issues that they are having. The University accomodations are safe too and there are a variety of these which are close to both campuses so you wouldn't have to walk too far home after lectures which is important at this time of year when it is getting dark so early! Friendly Staff and enjoyable societies
Hi there! I'm glad to hear that you have enjoyed being part of societies at Sheffield Hallam and have had a great experince with the staff here! I also really like the range of societes here and had a great experince as part of a social sports team as i found it fun but not too competitive which was good for me. I also have found the staff here to be really friendly and it's just a friendly city in general. Great university very good for support when needed

The university has a very positive feel and the campus is welcoming. The buildings itself are clean and modern. Quality of teaching is exceptional and the support available to students is excellent.

We have 14 different options, all of a varying price range, and all are in close range of campus. We also offer all first year students a room in one of our halls of residence with other Hallam students so it is a geat option when you are coming to university! The su has no bar .............

We work hard to make sure all students are happy so please put any suggestions in this form so our staff can take them on board! We have our student night on a Wednesday (Hallam nation) which is really popular with our students. It is at Crystal and everyone loves it! Our SU also works hard to put on a variety of great events where you can meet lots of new people and try new things. We have been to Alton Towers, London, York, Steelers games to name a few. Great accommodation, easy to navigate and friendly/helpful staff

A good uni for balanced education and social life.

Very good location (about 20 minute walk to uni and 5 minute walk to city centre). Very good value for money because it has alot of facilities such as washing machines and a cinema room.

I liked my last contract so much I stayed as a second year resident this September. Spacious kitchen, very good room layout. Facilities are always in hand (I.e, washing). The reception staff are kind and helpful.

Sheffield Hallam University has really good facilities as well as easy to access help in case of any academic year difficulties or problems, the student support team give really great advice as well as quickly link you to professionals to deal with your worries. The library has really great sources and as well as easy to download textbooks, research resources, old research results process to help you with your assignments or thesis / dissertation without having to spend fortunes on the textbooks. The tutor are really great at going over the topics of course and if any questions they ready to help anytime, they are really friendly and easy to get along as well as the tutor reply to emails very soon to their best of abilities.

We love all of the facilities that we have on offer for our students. We have great social and study areas, two 24-hour libraries and also great coucrse specific facilities such as our moot court and labs. We will have even more great facilities when our new buildings open which is really exciting. We love the amount of support we can offer our students too. Every student has access to three teams of support - an academic advisory team, an employability team and a student support team. They are always there to help you and you can easily make an appointment to talk to them. Our libraries are great and there are loads of things to access on our E-Library too! We are happy that we can offer access to lots of our textbooks so that students don't have to buy lots of text books. Our tutors pride themselves on ensuring that all students are happy and confident in their work. They are always there to help and support students and answer any questions they may have. The academic staff are generally helpful and the coursework is engaging, though there are occasional lapses in administrative efficiency. The campus facilities are decent but some areas could use updating. Socially, Sheffield offers a lively atmosphere with plenty of activities and a supportive student community. Accommodation is affordable but varies in quality. Overall, it's a good university experience with both strengths and areas for improvement.

I am currently studying in my second year at Sheffield Hallam. I have found everything so easy to access on the universities blackboard site and the support from my course leaders has been excellent. Every university building is so close together, making it an easy journey between lectures and seminars. The buildings are very modern with comfortable setting and a reliable WiFi connection for completing assignments. Hallam is a great university for all and I am enjoying my time here so much!

No nightlife events at the SU, unlike Uni of. decent amount of societies but none took my fancy. Collegiate campus is nice but not enough social spaces. Regular emails about careers opportunities.

There is a huge Hallam presence in the city centre… with Hallam buildings everywhere. The design of the city campus is nice, with lots of different buildings and nooks and crannies to hide away and study in (or socialise in!). The teaching staff are great and they really do genuinely care, which is refreshing. The weak point is the SU. The students union really does try… but the uptake of their events is very low, so there’s not much point going to an SU event in the hopes of socialising. The lack of our own student bar really causes a lack of community I feel. Regardless, there are some great societies at Hallam, and I would recommend Hallam as a great university to attend.

We at Unit 13 really appreciate the efforts that the new owners have taken. It was high time that these measures should have been made. Have been seeing steady dedication and progress by the new team in past month, be it taring the roads to setting up the street lights and even sending out maitainance the very same day the complaints are lodged. I wish I would get more support for careers within my course. Other than that I love it at SHU

In terms of facilities, they are good. However, the content of the course is quite disappointed

In 2024 we are set to expand and will be opening three brand-new buildings that will provide world-class teaching and learning facilities. We take pride in all of our campuses, with most buildings just a couple of minutes apart, making it quick and easy to move from one building to the other for lectures and student-focused activities.
