Up to now, I enjoy studying at Cardiff uni due to its available facilities to student all around campus. Everything is pretty walkable which means I get a good amount of exercise in each day. However, it can get quite loud on evenings due to all clubs and pubs since I’m a person who prefers to stay in and watch a film with my friends. But in general I’m very satisfied with my experience so far.
The organisation / administration of the university itself is abhorrent. I’m a 3rd year law student and have only just gotten my full timetable (which is subject to further change anyway so I’m not sure it even counts). Many people are in my exact position, it’s really just not acceptable.
Good experience and good service.
Cardiff University has a great student union, friendly staff and good facilities. Their Career service is exceptional.
I study in the science building opposite Cathays train station. It is quite dated in areas and could do with a revamp like the students union! In the vending cafe the hot water has not worked for a year so is disappointing for someone who stays in the University for long days to study so make food and drink frequently there. I would say that Cardiff Universities' society's are not as accessible and welcoming as I'd hoped them to be. As an older student I often find it hard to connect with others in the University as I do not have as much in common with them, from the few societies that I have tried everyone seems to be very young and don't have as much people skills as I might have and so it can be uncomfortable and I have ended up not going to any societies as I just enjoy being in the science building with like minded people. Maybe a society with mature students would be great to connect people with more life experience. The internet can be slow unfortunately therefore using mobile.
The Student Union is a fantastic organisation that offers a huge amount of services to students, and the variety of sports clubs and societies is unreal. Anyone can find something that appeals to them. The campus is brilliant - newer buildings like the Centre for Student Life are very modern and provide many amenities, while older buildings, while possibly a little rough on the outside are decently functional. The WiFi is OK; I often have issues accessing the eduroam so I often use visitor WiFi. This generally works perfectly and I rarely have issues.
Very good university, it's a decent place
The university's campus reflects this duality, featuring striking, historic architecture—like the building likely captured in your photo—alongside modern, state-of-the-art facilities such as the Centre for Student Life. Academically, students benefit from high-quality teaching that leads to strong graduate outcomes, while socially, the experience is unparalleled due to the award-winning Students' Union, which serves as the vibrant hub for over 200 societies and is conveniently located just steps from the compact city centre and massive green spaces like Bute Park.
Cambrian Point is the ultimate 5-star experience. The location is perfect, offering a quick walk to Cardiff Uni and Cathays' vibrant scene. Rooms are modern, spacious, and comfortable with great en-suites. Most importantly, the staff are incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommended!
Superb faculties with great supportive staffs.
