Loughborough University lives up to its reputation, facilities are unbelievable for all aspects, whether that’s academic use or sporting use, the standard of learning is high and to top it all off the campus is beautiful, would recommend it to anyone that is considering it!

Stunning campus with one of the best student unions in the UK. Hall culture adds to the experience and allows everyone to get involved in sports, volunteering along with other sections. Lecturers have a passion for what they teach which makes lectures engaging and enjoyable. Overall, a great experience which I do not believe I would get elsewhere.
University is amazing!!! Extremely impressed with the amount of societies and clubs and I adored the union and the offers it presented during first year.

The university has an amazing students union. All the halls are amazing at organising activities and events. There’s always a sports match to watch. Facilities are great
The most welcoming place ever, fresher year is incredible you are really looked after and by other students so they can relate! The transition to independence is smooth you don’t feel like you’ve been thrown in the deep end. The campus helps this as you have all your friends around you and all halls are walking distance and you have a committee and then you gain more independence by getting a house next year. Overall 10/10 experience

There is so much opportunity at Lboro, things to cater for everyone’s interests, the support available and careers service is also good, opportunities to work for the uni and fit it around study is also very good, I love that everything is on one campus and easily reachable, the all round uni experience is amazing. academically strong with amazing teaching and facilities.

Eduroam isn’t great but oh well
We're sorry to hear that you've had this experience with our Wi-Fi network. The good news is that the University has invested £3million into upgrading the cross-campus Wi-F - so you should see improvements. However, you can always pop into our PC clinic, based in the library, to get support and advice on your personal devices. (It's open seven days a week during term time!)- Priya

Loughborough is a great university with fantastic facilities I make use of everyday. The clubs can be quite expensive and wifi could be improved
Hi! Thanks for leaving a review. We're pleased that you like our facilities! The pricing of clubs can vary from one to another, as it depends on the equipment required for certain activities. That being said, we have a range of clubs & societies to suit different budgets - these can be viewed here. In regard to the WiFi - the University has invested £3million into upgrading the Wi-Fi network across campus, so you should see some improvements here. Alternatively, we do have a PC Clinic, based in the library, that offers free support and advice for personal devices. It's open seven days a week during term time too! - Priya

The campus is rather pretty and green. The flowers and blossom in spring is a bonus. All the facilities are on the actual campus ( very convenient ) but I would recommend to make sure you leave the campus every so often... otherwise it can feel claustrophobic. I don't really go out that much to the student Union but from what I can tell it's ok. the nightlife in Loughborough isn't exactly "legendary". Something I would like to make clear is how the university has treated me like family. They supported me when I was going through some difficult life experiences and accommodated them in my studies. On my course, architecture, the tutors have been exemplary in regards to supporting me. Obviously if you like sports Loughborough's great for that. One thing it's not great for though is reliable Wi-Fi on my phone but the wired internet is pretty good. 100mbs up/down with a ping of ≈4ms It's quite a well layered university and can cater to many individuals.

It's a top uni. I've visited friends at other universities and the experience at Loughborough is hands-down the best. The SU is especially good, although wifi in the union is sketchy!

ordered a quiet room, neighbour been playing loud music at night 5-6 days a week for the past 7 months and nothing of value has been done to stop him apart from "don't do it again johnny! you naughty boy!" at least most module lecturers are great, but living on campus is a gamble I will never be willing to make again. Few too many exams were taken on sleepless nights.

Amazing societies! Halls not always that welcoming but it depends on your luck, some are lush, but overpriced.

If you are a free-thinking, creative individual, this university is not for you. Full of jocks and individuals who’s only salvation of their week is a night in the student’s union. An atmosphere full of intense toxic masculinity and hypocrisy. However, if you love sports, lad-culture and drinking.... this is the university for you beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I really enjoyed my time at Loughborough University! Despite thinking I didn't want catered halls when I first visited at the Open Day, staying in Towers Hall was the best experience and it definitely helped me to integrate into the #LboroFamily quickly. There's lots to do on campus, and if you ever get bored, big cities are not far away on the train.
I had an amazing time at Loughborough University. It was one of the best experiences of my life! The Union has so many different things you can get involved with whether that is sport, societies, volunteering or fundraising. I would recommend this University to anyone!

Honestly a very very poor experience of a university. More of a school than a university, with poor teaching staff and academic facilities. The sports facilities look good, though limited. For example, you can only use Powerbase gym at certain times of the day/week, even though you are paying a lot of money for a university priced gym. My accommodation too was terrible; small, falling apart and extortionately priced. I wouldn't recommend this university.

Powerbase gym is where our elite athletes train and does have restricted access at certain times as listed here on the website. There is also the Holywell Fitness Centre on campus, offering unrestricted access during opening hours that might be more suitable for those looking for more flexibility with access hours. - Priya

My time at Loughborough Uni has been the best 4 years of my life. Coming to university a few years late was daunting but I have never looked back. Halls in first year allowed me to really get involved with events and make friends from all courses. My course (Graphics and Illustration) has been hard work, but the tutors are so supportive and inspiring. All clubs and societies are exceptional, tasters sessions really allow you to try new things. The campus is my favourite part of my uni experience, it really is beautiful, safe and has everything you’d need. I love the energy around campus everyday and the family feel. Lboro town is not huge but has the necessities for shopping, drinks, food, cinema or a game of laser quest. The opportunities to work at university really open doors and allow for part time money income. Erasmus also helped me massively financially when working abroad in my placement year. I’m approaching graduation, I’ll be sad to leave lboro, the uni and the people.

The apartment is incredibly spacious , with a great layout. The service is brilliant, all faults reported are attended to ASAP, and if they require an external contractor to do the work, you will be informed regarding the delay. It was overall, a wonderful student living experience

Its an awesome University and plenty to do - but its a single site campus so if you are looking for a bigger city, this maybe isn't the place for you. Loughborough was my insurance and I am pleased I came, but I coming from a small town myself, it would have been nice to enjoy a bigger city vibe. Needless to say, Nottingham and Leicester are nearby so I have enjoyed visiting these two when I can.

Initially I was overwhelmed by Loughborough - the people, the sheer amount clubs and societies, the sporting prowess donned in the African violet .. but everyone is so welcoming that it took me no time at all to settle in. I quickly found my home within the Students Union, making the most of my free time volunteering for Soup Kitchen and projects with the Elderly as well as joining three societies (Christian Union, LSU Sing and Shakespeare Society). I made friends quickly and discovered that I really never wanted to leave the campus for the fear of missing out. Now well into my first year, I am thoroughly enjoying life at Loughborough and feel I have made the best decision.

5* experience and a 5* University. I am thoroughly enjoying my experience at Loughborough and I just wish that it never had to end! My typical day differs from IMS Hockey, to LSU Yoga classes, to dog walking for the local dog shelter to a fancy dress social for my hall. I am always busy and constantly being offered opportunities to develop myself and grow as a person. For example, I am also a Student Ambassador for Loughborough which is a casual role that helps me inspire other students to think about this university and HE as a whole. Through Loughborough, I have gained so much confidence and am now comfortable public speaking and communicating with large groups - something I was terrified of doing before. Loughborough has made me who I am today and prepared me for the world.

Loughborough University is situated in the East Midlands and is one of the largest single site campuses in the U.K. When I was looking at my University choices, Loughborough was the only one where I felt home - I liked the atmosphere from my first visit and students on Open Days seemed passionate and proud to be a part of it here. Now it my third year studying in the Business School, I am glad I made the decision to come here. I am excited to be part of the Loughborough experience and am pleased with the progress I have made towards my career goals - with the support from an amazing careers service and placement team in my department. If I would summarise my Loughborough experience in one work it would be unforgettable - I made unforgettable friendships, had unforgettable nights out, took part in unforgettable challenges with Rag and Action and had three unforgettable years studying for a degree I am proud of. Loughborough has an ethos where the students are the heart of the University and that is apparent from the way that the Vice Chancellor knows your name and will greet you like an old friend. We are support in our learning and given a voice to make changes where we feel necessary. I am able to celebrate my faith here, be a proud LGBT woman and enjoy all the things that are important to me whilst getting an award winning education. Loughborough will always have a place in my heart and for anyone waiting to start their university journey ... just go to Loughborough.

Much of what was learnt on the course I never used when I was employed within the sports industry. Work placement support for Sports Technology students was non existent. TLDR: It's very difficult to actually secure a job withing the sports industry. Those who did were mostly those who achieved at least a 1st. Although employment rates may be high, they fail to inform you that most graduates after studying Sports Technology, are not employed within the sports industry. Over half of my class ended up in completely different careers. I think this is mostly due to the sports industry being very competitive. Even with work placement experience within the sports industry, wouldn't necessarily be enough to secure you a job within the sports sector. Even for entry/graduate levels roles, I have seen job specifications requesting at least 1/2 years working experience, which is quite ridiculous.
Hi, A full range of services is offered to graduates within 3-years of graduation including appointments, events and careers fairs. After 3 years graduates can still access our online resources, view our vacancies and attend our events. The Sports industry can indeed be highly competitive, but the breadth of knowledge and skills developed by students studying the Sports Technology programme should enable graduates to move into roles related to their course or other suitable opportunities after graduation. Loughborough come with a community atmosphere where you feel connected to everyone. It has a very friendly and respectful culture which makes students feel they are part of a family. I think this drives students to achieve more, especially when it comes to improving society. There's so much to get involved in, that I wasn't done exploring even after 5 years of studying at Loughborough. I have to say, it was the best 5 years of my life.

I have started my part-time course a couple of years ago. The modules have been delivered on a 1-weekly basis. Pretty good!

Loughborough has truly become my home away from home and I could not be more in love with a place. It has given me so many opportunities to develop as a person, so much more than I ever expected, and I could not be more grateful to an institution for the incredibly life-changing experience. I am a stranger to the person that I came to university as three years ago, and I could not be more comfortable in my own skin now and proud to be who I am, and it is Loughborough and its student experience that has done that for me!

I feel so at home at Loughborough and there is so much support all around. For me, I needed a university that felt safe and happy and I definitely feel that Loughborough represents that. There is a high focus on health, both physical and mental, and such a great student atmosphere.

I couldn't have wished for a better place to live and study for three years. Loughborough has the most beautiful, green, campus to live and study on, with something always going on and a real sense of community throughout the entire university. Staff took a genuine interest in both my academic and personal development and the lecturers in my department took the time to get to know students as individuals. I felt safe and cared for during my time at the university, and support was widely advertised for those who needed it. You couldn't help but get involved with something outside of your studies and everywhere I went I found supportive and caring individuals. I loved my time spent at Loughborough because I felt as though people at the university cared about my successes and welfare instead of just what I could contribute to University statistics and tables.

Loughborough University is a truly top class University - I have been here little over a month and already have fallen in love with the place. There are not many Universities where you know the Vice Chancellor on first name terms!

It's a bubble I never want to pop

Thanks for your feedback. We're so glad you liked it here at Loughborough. If you haven't already heard, our our campus was voted #1 for quality of facilities nationally.
Facilities generally good although some lecture theatres and buildings outdated. Clubs and societies good, often seem inaccessible once freshers is over though. Union generally okay despite a few really upsetting and stressful nights e.g refreshers fnd that mared my experience of the union. Difficult to see how the union can justify entry price increases when it is clear they are already allowing for more entry than sensible capacity. Security for the union often seem immature, in experienced and unequipped to deal with situations. I saw two security throwing metal railings with little regard to student safety during returners fnd. Also in the union I have seen a number of occasions where there have been fights or punches thrown where security have done very little to intervene despite having noticed the incidents. Overall the price, lax security and evident extortion of the fact that the union is the largest club in Loughborough has ruined it as a social space.

Loughborough is a fantastic university, great campus and facilities, and a great social atmosphere
Lovely campus, loads of green, nice buildings, access to computers etc. Internet all over campus works well 90% of the time. If you’re in your room an Ethernet cable would help if the internet does go down. Union does try to cater for everyone and hosts a range of events and is also useful in the day time (for food, rag, action etc.) Careers fairs, especially the autumn fair is very good (was the biggest in the UK) chance to get freebies, speak to employers even when you’re in first year! Opportunities for internships, jobs, placements etc. Loads of societies on campus just find what suits you or start your own - maybe try to speak to members before committing to paying for membership.

Quality university, focus heavily on halls and hall participation is pushed. Facilities, both sporting and academic are really good.

Difficult to make a review on the careers service as yet to really use it, but the students union is excellent both day and night.
Thanks for taking your time to leave feedback. We're really proud of our Students' Union, and the fact that it has been rated the best in the UK. You can make use of the Careers Service at any point during your degree, and you can also still use it once you've graduated!
Like one big family and you are always bumping into people you know. Only issue is the wifi

Union is great for a night out and for day use with everything you need Campus is large but the free bus service means it’s not a problem
You have everything you need within the campus and if not there's student voice within the student union who can help you out.

Amazing university with a wonderful community feeling - my time at Loughborough has been excellent and I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. I have made friends for life and memories I'll never forget. The modules on my course reflected real life work and allowed me to use my knowledge in day to day situations. I am going into the world of work prepared and ready. Thank you Loughborough.

I was a student here for three years, and am now a staff member as I didn't want to leave!!! Goes to show that the tag line is true .. Lboro is for life!!

Campus is incredibly loud. People are extremely disrespectful. You cant sleep on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday since they predrink at 10pm with loud music and they come back at 4am and put their music on.

Loughborough is always student centred and investments are aimed to make the academic and social experience for students the best it can be. The Loughborough students union is even ran by students, for the students. You have the best facilities you could find! Currently the best sports uni in the world and has the best student experience in the uk, so where else would you want to be!

My first year at Loughborough has been such an incredible time. I love the energy of the university, and the emphasis on community aspects such as hall spirit which really brings people together, especially freshers. Also, the clubs and societies are brilliant, well organised and maintained. I’ve also loved my course and look forward to studying next year.

Such good fun, the social side is incredible and the lecturers are all really motivating and passionate about their subjects. Just a shame it’s so complicated to split a degree between subjects or change course later in the year.
Overall a really good experience full of really good people.
Lots on offer for everyone with a great atmosphere on campus
I've just finished my first year of university here studying Industrial Design and I can honestly say I have loved it so much. There are so many opportunities and events not only in freshers but all year round. I felt so welcomed and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I absolutely love it here!

This University allowed me the opportunities to excel and grow as a person. I have loved my time at this University and would highlight recommend it to anyone. The campus environment is safe and creates a real community feel amongst students and staff. In addition, I have felt supported here by lecturers and feel that they want you to succeed.
The worse experience of my life. The staff are vacant, the course is vague and I won’t no wish this on my worse enemy.

Not really anything I can fault about the university apart from the internet. There are so many societies you can join so you will definitely be able to find something you love.

Loughborough honestly has something for everyone. There is so much to do and so many different paths you can take. The only reason Loughborough may not be the place for you is if you want to be in the middle of a city; although both Leicester and Nottingham are close by and easy to get to and the night life in Loughborough is personally more than enough! Joining Loughborough immediately makes you part of something bigger than yourself and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Great all around University. I studied Accounting and Finance so I can only speak for my department which was excellent. The professors and faculty staff were very good and helpful. The fact that the Uni is cooperating with [website link removed] is another bonus as I was able to receive all my accommodation essentials even before arriving at the Uni for the first time.
Studied here for Foundation in Art and design - a great course. However the facilities, slightly isolated location of the Fine Art building and lack of nearby shops wasn't great. Basic facilities were in a separate building and printers hardly ever worked properly. The rest of the campus seemed nice and modern however. Decent societies.

We try our best to offer the best for our students, and so have now invested £3 million into six creative hubs for the Art and Design courses.
