My overall experience was okay as they had good lecturers. However, the University saw me as a money-making opportunity. Due to circumstances, I had to commute from Birmingham to uni every day. Only when I got there I hear they were charging hefty fees. So I decided to park outside campus away from the uni. One day when I visited my friend I got a warning from the unis or shall I say frauds that I parked in a no uni parking zone. However, I was visiting a friend to do some group studying. They let me off saying I shouldn't park there. But where else should I park when I visit my friend? Then halfway through the year, another friend said that he lives in a house just outside the campus and said that its a private road where I can park if I liked. So I did this and then the uni made me pay a fine of £50 even though and denied my appeal saying its because I missed a deadline. They didn't consider how busy I was commuting and managing work. They did this after charging me £14k tuition!!
Hello, We're very sorry to hear you had a negative experience studying with us. We do have parking permits for students, that in the long run work out quite cost effective against parking in town or elsewhere. They are designed to help students like yourself get to campus with ease and we have dedicated student car parks you can use as well. Loughborough has been such a good experience so far. The one thing that really bothers me is that teaching and examinations is done it cheapest possible ways. Most of my modules have just been seminars and then one exam. Usually no coursework, labs, tutorials or case studies.

Loughborough University is honestly a University like no other. It is both academically strong and top of the sporting world. It’s never been easier to balance my studies and training. And for those who don’t do sport, don’t fear! Loughborough is a Top 10 University in every league table for its incredible Campus, Teaching, Career opportunities and general student life. Being on campus feels like you’re part of a big family and the town is safe too!

I can't fault my experience at Loughborough. Facilities are constantly being built or renovated to improve our learning experience! There are so many things to get involved in outside of just sport, but the sport is also great. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had whilst studying here and the experiences I have gained through completing a placement year as well as being part of a sports club. I now look back at when I applied to uni and can't believe I ever considered anywhere else.

I didn't even hesitate giving 5 stars across the board for Loughborough University and can honestly say I've had the best 4 years of my life studying here. I felt it excelled in every aspect of university life with a thriving Student Union, world class sporting facilities and so many career opportunities, I feel Loughborough stands a league above the rest. Choosing to study at Loughborough will be the best decision you'll ever make.

Choosing Loughborough was the best decision I ever made! I was heavily involved with a sports club, which added to my experience ten-fold, giving me awesome opportunities to compete. I've come away with life long friends from this club (and Loughborough in general) and our alumni regularly come back to visit, which I think says a lot. Being in this club allowed me to be on committee, which grew my employment chances ten-fold, not just through the skills I learnt (which were related to my course) but because Loughborough are brilliant at recognising the hard work of their student volunteers by giving out awards, which boosted my CV. Sport and the night life gave me the ability to balance working hard with playing hard. Ultimately, Loughborough invests in its people and have now made me a full-time employee in a Marketing role within sport, which shows you the opportunities available both as a student and alumni of Loughborough.

Lovely place, find my course is unorganised and possessed rude and unhelpful lecturers. Also the History course was more politics and IR than history at times.

Amazing campus and very welcoming, but not much to do outside the university campus. I found it quite restricting and couldn’t enjoy myself as much as I would if closer to a city. While the campus is great, there isn’t much good nightlife and the same for in the town.

Loughborough is one of the best universities, never seen such an amazing campus; the staff are so helpful and the union is incredible!!
Good university with great facilities provided you are not on a course that is part of the school of Arts, English and Drama which clearly gets no attention in terms of funding as its always the last department to get new facilities (also if you're doing fine art/graphic design be prepared to spend a lot of money on materials such as Adobe software/clay/inks/paper as the uni doesn't provide them for free) and is basically not cared about enough to advertise/promote on social media. If you're interested in studying anything else though its wonderful from what I hear.

Loughborough University lives up to its reputation, facilities are unbelievable for all aspects, whether that’s academic use or sporting use, the standard of learning is high and to top it all off the campus is beautiful, would recommend it to anyone that is considering it!

Stunning campus with one of the best student unions in the UK. Hall culture adds to the experience and allows everyone to get involved in sports, volunteering along with other sections. Lecturers have a passion for what they teach which makes lectures engaging and enjoyable. Overall, a great experience which I do not believe I would get elsewhere.

The university has an amazing students union. All the halls are amazing at organising activities and events. There’s always a sports match to watch. Facilities are great
The most welcoming place ever, fresher year is incredible you are really looked after and by other students so they can relate! The transition to independence is smooth you don’t feel like you’ve been thrown in the deep end. The campus helps this as you have all your friends around you and all halls are walking distance and you have a committee and then you gain more independence by getting a house next year. Overall 10/10 experience

There is so much opportunity at Lboro, things to cater for everyone’s interests, the support available and careers service is also good, opportunities to work for the uni and fit it around study is also very good, I love that everything is on one campus and easily reachable, the all round uni experience is amazing. academically strong with amazing teaching and facilities.

Eduroam isn’t great but oh well
We're sorry to hear that you've had this experience with our Wi-Fi network. The good news is that the University has invested £3million into upgrading the cross-campus Wi-F - so you should see improvements. However, you can always pop into our PC clinic, based in the library, to get support and advice on your personal devices. (It's open seven days a week during term time!)- Priya

Loughborough is a great university with fantastic facilities I make use of everyday. The clubs can be quite expensive and wifi could be improved

That being said, we have a range of clubs & societies to suit different budgets - these can be viewed here. In regard to the WiFi - the University has invested £3million into upgrading the Wi-Fi network across campus, so you should see some improvements here. Alternatively, we do have a PC Clinic, based in the library, that offers free support and advice for personal devices. It's open seven days a week during term time too! - Priya

The campus is rather pretty and green. The flowers and blossom in spring is a bonus. All the facilities are on the actual campus ( very convenient ) but I would recommend to make sure you leave the campus every so often... otherwise it can feel claustrophobic. I don't really go out that much to the student Union but from what I can tell it's ok. the nightlife in Loughborough isn't exactly "legendary". Something I would like to make clear is how the university has treated me like family. They supported me when I was going through some difficult life experiences and accommodated them in my studies. On my course, architecture, the tutors have been exemplary in regards to supporting me. Obviously if you like sports Loughborough's great for that. One thing it's not great for though is reliable Wi-Fi on my phone but the wired internet is pretty good. 100mbs up/down with a ping of ≈4ms It's quite a well layered university and can cater to many individuals.

It's a top uni. I've visited friends at other universities and the experience at Loughborough is hands-down the best. The SU is especially good, although wifi in the union is sketchy!

ordered a quiet room, neighbour been playing loud music at night 5-6 days a week for the past 7 months and nothing of value has been done to stop him apart from "don't do it again johnny! you naughty boy!" at least most module lecturers are great, but living on campus is a gamble I will never be willing to make again. Few too many exams were taken on sleepless nights.

Amazing societies! Halls not always that welcoming but it depends on your luck, some are lush, but overpriced.
enjoyed my time at Loughborough
If you are a free-thinking, creative individual, this university is not for you. Full of jocks and individuals who’s only salvation of their week is a night in the student’s union. An atmosphere full of intense toxic masculinity and hypocrisy. However, if you love sports, lad-culture and drinking.... this is the university for you beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I really enjoyed my time at Loughborough University! Despite thinking I didn't want catered halls when I first visited at the Open Day, staying in Towers Hall was the best experience and it definitely helped me to integrate into the #LboroFamily quickly. There's lots to do on campus, and if you ever get bored, big cities are not far away on the train.
I had an amazing time at Loughborough University. It was one of the best experiences of my life! The Union has so many different things you can get involved with whether that is sport, societies, volunteering or fundraising. I would recommend this University to anyone!

Honestly a very very poor experience of a university. More of a school than a university, with poor teaching staff and academic facilities. The sports facilities look good, though limited. For example, you can only use Powerbase gym at certain times of the day/week, even though you are paying a lot of money for a university priced gym. My accommodation too was terrible; small, falling apart and extortionately priced. I wouldn't recommend this university.

My time at Loughborough Uni has been the best 4 years of my life. Coming to university a few years late was daunting but I have never looked back. Halls in first year allowed me to really get involved with events and make friends from all courses. My course (Graphics and Illustration) has been hard work, but the tutors are so supportive and inspiring. All clubs and societies are exceptional, tasters sessions really allow you to try new things. The campus is my favourite part of my uni experience, it really is beautiful, safe and has everything you’d need. I love the energy around campus everyday and the family feel. Lboro town is not huge but has the necessities for shopping, drinks, food, cinema or a game of laser quest. The opportunities to work at university really open doors and allow for part time money income. Erasmus also helped me massively financially when working abroad in my placement year. The apartment is incredibly spacious , with a great layout. The service is brilliant, all faults reported are attended to ASAP, and if they require an external contractor to do the work, you will be informed regarding the delay. It was overall, a wonderful student living experience

Its an awesome University and plenty to do - but its a single site campus so if you are looking for a bigger city, this maybe isn't the place for you. Loughborough was my insurance and I am pleased I came, but I coming from a small town myself, it would have been nice to enjoy a bigger city vibe. Needless to say, Nottingham and Leicester are nearby so I have enjoyed visiting these two when I can.

Loughborough is a small town, but as you said, there's lots of stuff to do here - on and off campus. We have excellent transport links too, so you can get the most out of the nearby cities when you're here! -Priya
