Laycock Studios Biography
Laycock Studios offers stylish student accommodation in a superb location in Sheffield. Sheffield Hallam University is just a 4-minute walk away and the University of Sheffield can be reached in 20-minutes. A variety of popular shops, restaurants and bars are all within easy walking distance from the building and the train station is also close by.
There are five different sizes of studios to choose from at Laycock Studios, which are all self-contained with a private bathroom and kitchen, giving residents more space to themselves. The rooms are all light and airy with contemporary furnishings. An added bonus is that you won’t pay any rent until you get your student loan, plus couples can share a studio at no extra cost.
There’s a comfy communal lounge to enjoy with friends, along with the social events that take place throughout the year. When the weather is fine, you can make the most of the outdoor courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s also an onsite gym to make use of, as well as handy laundry facilities.

Conveniently close to the train station, tram line, bus stops/station as well as the city centre. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Maintenance team are efficient and quick in responding to problems.

Really love Laycock studios which really worth for money. The room is so spacious and everything is up to date! The location is perfect to McDonald’s and city centre as well! There is a hill behind the train station which is a 3 mins walk away from Laycock. I will definitely miss laycock studios soon!
Laycock Studios is a great student accommodation option for both Sheffield Hallam and University of Sheffield students. The internet / WiFi speeds are fast from any room and free for multiple devices. The location is great for commuters - right next to the Sheffield train and bus stations stations.

Wonderful staff, great wifi, close to train station, Sheffield Hallam and tram stop so it is easy to get to both unis and also to Meadowhall.
Laycock studios are in a great city centre location only 5 minutes away from Sheffield Hallam University and 2 minutes away from the train station. The building is new and the premises are modern. It is good value for money compared to other accomodations and particurlarly good for couples as the price can be shared. Most importantly, the staff are friendly, hands on and always here to help.
Living here is the best decision I've made with my partner! There is a lot of room for both of us and we even chose the bronze studio. The value for money is really great and the staff in reception especially Emily 😊 are always helpful and friendly. The facilities are excellent too such as the gym and the common room. We've decided to book for next year because it's such good value, easy to get to the town centre and university buildings. Thank you!

Brilliant accommodation, a 3-minute walk from the uni, 1 minute from the train station, no fee for having multiple people per flat, large flats, cheap rent, onsite gym, nice social area, amazing team, let us off the last rent instalment due to COVID-19, an all-round amazing place to live!
Perfect location for Sheffield Hallam University and as close to the train station you can get. Staff are so lovely and go above and beyond to help with your enquiries. Security is always on site so it's very secure. This is the perfect accomodation for students who like their own space and privacy.
It’s been a pleasure living at Laycock for 2 years now. The staff are friendly and tend to your needs whether it’s through phone call, email or face-to-face. Frances has been really helpful whenever I had any issues! Communal areas are cosy and usually decently cleaned. The only thing I would criticise on is the lack of cleaning of the outside windows of the rooms - they can get quite dirty and it’s unclear how long they’ve gone without a clean. Overall, it has been a pleasant experience and I have rebooked once again.
Covid-19: During this difficult time, Laycock Studios have been extremely helpful in cancelling studio contracts for the rest of the academic year, with no hidden fees. They have also allowed to keep belongings in rooms until it is safe to properly move out!
Exceptional spacing in studios for the weekly bronze pricing, with plenty of furniture provided in the rooms too with space to organise personal belongings. All facilities were great, and any minor issues I noticed were fixed within a day of reporting it and never experienced any issues that were requiring urgent repair. Good spaced bathroom with shower and plenty of storage space in there too. Some studios had less cupboards in the kitchen area, however did have the same space for boxes or own built shelves to place underneath. Only issue with the WiFi was during the storm as it had cut off the line and therefore needed to be fixed by the Ask4 company. Overall really happy with this accommodation and gutted had to cut it short due to the Covid-19 but that was personal choice.
Covid-19: Helped providing additional cleansing around the building from the start of this pandemic. In addition to this, I was provided with the ability to apply for early release and not have to pay for the remaining of the rents due to moving to my grandparents to help them more. Frances Prendergast in particular maintained emails to me during this early release to ensure that I had all my items and make sure I was ok in general.
I have had the best experience living at Laycock Studios! It is by far the best value for money you get that I found after looking around so many different studios! Frances was the biggest help when the studio I wanted (bronze) was fully booked and soon as one became available again she emailed me straight away and I managed to secure mine! A big thank you to her!! She was so helpful throughout the whole process! Staying here really accommodated my situation and paying for rent was made so easy, I was able to pay online monthly during the summer while I was working full time then began to pay termly once I started back at university in line with my student finance. Complete stress free!! Reception is always manned 24/7 which is always so useful and makes you feel very secure! It also means you never miss a parcel delivery!! The staff really do make you feel at home, they seem to remember everyone’s name which is lovely. The location is absolutely perfect as well!
Covid-19: My tenancy wasn’t meant to end until September 2020 but due to the outbreak they have enabled us us to have an early release cancellation free of charge (move out April 30th) which has been amazing. They even offer the option to pay weekly if you are unable to move out by the date so it really does suit everyone’s needs! I know of some people with different accommodation providers in Sheffield do not have this benefit. Overall, they have been amazing!
All the staff are super helpful and they are giving their best to help us out even in this difficult time. Frances was super nice too, she helped me quite a lot whenever I needed a hand. The location of this acc is good, very convenient. It has everything that we need, the best part is rebookers don’t have to move our stuff when we are away.
Covid-19: Yes, they’ve offered to refund us from May to the end of the contract, very heartwarming cause they understand our difficulties

Laycock Studios was by far the best accommodation I have stayed at during my three years at Sheffield Hallam. Safe and secure, you don’t have far to walk after a late-night library session. The on-site team are all great - Fran seems to know everyone by name and James is always friendly and chatty! I had a few noise issues but Dan and the night security were great with resolving any disturbances! The social spaces and facilities are perfect. At the start of the year, the team held a pizza party which was a fun way to meet your neighbours. The only issue was that the intercom system didn't work, otherwise, everything else was perfect! I was sad to leave my flat, Laycock Studios really did become a home away from home!
Covid-19: Student Roost were fantastic with allowing tenancy agreement to end from May, if required.

Moved into building after an awful experience with another set of studio flats and was instantly amazed at the difference between the two. Lovely building with amazing staff, I really feel at home here.
It’s my third year to live in Laycock Studios. It’s s a great place for students. Location is so convenient. Room is value for money. The staff are super nice and friendly, especially Frances always helps me with no matter what I need.
Laycock studios is a great place to live as a student, especially if you want a studio so you can have your own space and still have the option to use the social spaces, like the study room, common room, gym. The only downside to the site is the cost is quite high for a Gold/Platinum studio, however it is worth it if you can afford it. I feel really safe and happy living here and wish I could live here even after finishing university! The team on site are great, Fran, Dan, Nezar and James really make it a cosy family environment, and are always willing to help or just have a chat! Absolutely love it here and can’t recommend it enough.
Amazing size room for the money, great facilities, lovely staff members, great service and more. The staff go above and beyond what’s expected to ensure that my experience at this accommodation is the best I could have. My room was spotless on arrival and so was the rest of the building. Whilst it’s next to the main road, there are windows which block the noise out.

I have very much enjoyed my time staying at Laycock Studios. The rooms are bright and spacious. The common room is big with a pool table, table football and large television - it is an ideal spot to socilaise with friends. I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. In particular the maintenance worker: James, was extremely helpful and good to chat with.

Fran and Dan are amazing in the office. They're quick at replying when you have a maintenance issue, and they are so friendly and attentive. Maintenance issues are always resolved quickly. The location is amazing, and the studio is spacious and it is quiet on an evening.
