I lived in Sir Charles Groves Hall (classic studio) for more than 2 years as part of my PhD study. I liked it very much. It is very close to the University of Manchester library and main buildings. I walk to the city centre and all facilities for shopping. The stuff are very friendly and helpful. We sometimes get free tickets to music concerts in the Northern College of Music :) I recommend this accommodation.

Great location. Just a few issues: Showers are annoying e.g flooding and inconsistent temperature Lights don’t turn off in kitchen

Thanks so much for the feedback. It is always good to hear. Yes unfortunately the showers are an issue as the cold water pressure is stronger than the hot in the pipes so it takes over however this would require a full building closure and overhaul to rectify so we are looking at a time when we can possibly do this however if there is ever an issue, please let us know and we wil endeavour to fix it within 48hours or we are also happy to prvode a temprary room to shower whilst this is rectified. unfortunatwly maintenance can be an ongoing issue all accross the country but as the new property supervisor I can certainly promise we are ctively looking into all maintenance issues for the building and I am sorry some of these have affected you. If there are any other issues, please feel free to come chat with us at reception and we will help as best and speedily as possible.

We are so happy that you have enjoyed your time with us and we hope if you are in Manchester still that you willl continue to stay with us. Happy customers are the very reason we do what we do so I am thrilled it has been a good experience for you. We are always looking to improve so if you have any suggestions, please come let our friendly reception staff know and we will look into all suggestions for the property.
Don't recommend!⚠️. Close to university, with ensuite, but everything else is not up to standard!! 😡. Firstly there's bugs in the room - millipedes in the carpet!! I've seen & had to get rid of 15+!!The floors were covered in hair from the previous occupant, there were acne stickers left in the shower/on the wall from the prev.occupant. No communication when first moving in about where the washing machine facilities/common room were-so have to figure it out alone. My room is opposite the kitchen & I can hear anyone in there clearly, so its hard to sleep with my flatmates (who are rude & unsociable with me) having guests round til 4am being noisy in the kitchen. You can't fully relax because you get emails about "room checks" and at times maintenance/workmen come round with no email warning beforehand. Poor staff communication. Vague info in emails. Window had a gap so air gets in, so its cold & there's loud traffic noise. Mouldy room. Staff hold parcels hostage at reception. Lonely.

We are very sorry to hear you have had a bad experience. Were you a replacement tenant or did you move in at check in day as this may be the reson why. Very often we get studetns leaving and finding a replacement tenant however they will not tell us they are leaving and then we do not get a chance to clean the room properly as at the beginning of each academic year, all rooms will be deep cleaned by a company and then checked by our housekeeping team. However there are instances where some things may be missed and in this case we apologise. With regards to the insects, we have a great working relationship with our pest controland we will happily call them ut if there is an issue in your room, please report this to us and we will call them out within 24hrs. This is the same with any maintenance issues however the severity could determine response time. With these large buildings, by law, we unfortunatelyt have to carry out scheduled inspections and checks on things ranging from electrical outputs, to lighting and fire control appliances and testing. This is required by the government and there is no wqy of avaoiding this. This would be the reason for the manyh emails as by law we are also to give 24hr notice before entering a flat. We send out communications regarding this to the email address on the accounts of all residents so if comms have not been received uit may be due to us having a different or old address that would have bee provided originally to us at the stage of making the booking. We do our best to esnure this is always done but as we are human unfortunately sometimes it may be missed by a team memeber and for this we are very sirry and promise we are always trying to improve on these types of things. please feel free to come chat with us at reception as even bad feedback is great as it helps us improve by understnading where we are going wrong. Living at SCGH is perfect for RNCM. But if you like to be closer to the city centre, or shopping at Aldi to save money, it's not an ideal location. Rooms are modern, bathrooms could be more up to date for £170 a week for an ensuite room. Additionally, corridors aren't often hoovered and litter has been left for numerous weeks before. Kitchen, the storage is adequate, but could be better designed, and appliances are very budget and again have had issues, but matinence are very quick to respond most of the time. Common room is fairly basic and not huge for 600 people, but does the job, however there is nowhere aside from rooms to study. In terms of value for money, it's not up there but there also isn't much else around that would be this up to date for the same price point without going private, and potentially having bills to pay on top.

Thank you very much for your input. I am the new property manager and have been brought in to help rectify all the issues. Getting an idea of all these issues helps myself and the team improve where there are shortfalls. We will be upgrading the common room over the next 2 months and we will have a study room up and running by the end of February 2023 in our second commmon room in E Block. We will also be converting the other half of that common room into a movie theatre with an HD projector which will give more options to the students. As a resident you are however more than welcome to utilize the gym, movie rooms, kareoke rooms, yoga studio and music rooms and private study rooms in any of our surrounding properties which are all within a 10 minute walk. I personally have been liaising eith housekeeping about hoovering the corridors daily as this is an issue I have noticed myself. My deepest apologies for this. I am gad maintenance have been able to respind in a tinely manner and if there are any other issues, please do come and let us know so we can fix them and stop similar issues happening again. Best wishes SCGH Team
Safety and security was excellent! Welfare could do better. Could do more to assist those living alone when first arriving.

Thank you for leaving us a review. We will make sure that new arrivals are getting the proper induction into the building going forward and I have drawn up a welcome leaflet we will now be providing students on arrival touching on everything to safety/security, welfare, maintenance, to local shops, hospitals and doctors etc. We will aslo be having welcome meetings with each flat/individual upon arrival to make sure they are welcomed properly as well as being familiar with the buidlings and the surrounding areas. I am very sorry you did not receive this and I will make sure that going forward this improves. With regards to welfare, myself and the staff are receiving training for this as well as first aid training to esure we can help or at least signpost anyone who requires our help. I am also personally laiaising with the universities welfare leads to ensure we are delivering this service and aid to any student who may need it. Your physical but also mental health are of utmost importance and we are always available at reception for a chat or to give advice should you need it.
When I arrived the room was covered in a thick layer of dust and the bathroom had the previous occupiers hair all over the walls with black mould in places as well as an unhoovered floor. The accommodation is central but it is way too noisy, the windows barely block out the sound from heavy traffic and it’s hard to get a good night’s sleep. My flat didn’t have a vacuum and when myself and the 3 others each individually asked about why we don’t have a vacuum we were just told we should have one with no effort to even resolve our problem. My housemate ended up caving in and buying one instead because we received no help at reception. We have now discovered we don’t have an iron as well despite there being a box for it. We don’t even want to try reception this time. Lastly we have now been without constant running water for 5 days with little to no communication, I conveniently received an update email a day after a petition had surfaced online about the accommodation.
Out of all the halls I've seen/lived in this one is by far the absolute worst. Yes it's super close to uni/conservatoire but I promise any length of travel is worth it. Nearly all of my flatmates (including me) have had their bathroom flooded due to pipes dripping and you have to put a request through because they won't deal with your case if you ask in person, but maintenance still haven't shown up and it's been nearly 2 weeks. My room has literal black mold in it and it's already made me ill within 1 week. Our kitchen isn't fully equipped either (no oven shelves and still no kitchen mop), yet these things have been requested multiple times. The room has no air but if you open the window it becomes so cold or noisy that you have to close it again. The room itself was incredibly dirty with dust everywhere that we had to clean as soon as I arrived. There are only 4 washing machines for the whole building so it's almost impossible get access to them.
The lift is not working for almost 3 months till now! (I am living at 7th Floor). They refused to refund or made any action for this, just ask us to wait! So inconvenient! Worst experience ever!
was okay however we got broken into one night and security did nothing about it
This is the worst accommodation you can probably spend your student time in. I came to the deluxe room thinking ill be paying for the best room. I got in with BLOOD and hair on the bed, the bathroom and the kitchen filled with fungus, the shower filled with fungus. The microwave was melting iron into my food and when it got replaced , it was replaced with a DIRTY microwave that burns the dirt and produces gas each time I use it. I informed the staff and they told me I should clean the other students dirt. I pay almost 1000 pounds a month were you can EASILY find a better cheaper and cleaner place.!
i had to write another review after my first review, the managers got in touch with me and solved my case with professionalism, which was much appreciated, the issue was the employee not the liberty living. although i have to add another issue which is the internet speed after 5 oclock which is extremely slow
This new rule regarding our parcel delivery being held “hostage” till 4 o’clock. I understand that this might be because they are busy but then you need to add to more staff or atleast be courteous enough to us residents to send an email regarding it when I’m getting a new email regarding next year bookings or maintenance every other day, not just put a letter infront of your reception desk hoping we see it. When I go to the reception desk and ask why they tell me “ oh we had the letter since Monday this is the only entrance you should have seen it” and when asked about why this is happening she tells me it’s written in the letter read the letter. And when asked why is there this new rule she tells me some one went on a vacation, we’re not allowed to go to vacation now ? How is this professional when I’m paying for these services and I can’t even get a courteous answer. I’ve recommended this place to many people, now i regret that
