Solent University is soo good and is really fun
A good university with good facilities with helpful, caring staff. The main downside is that there were only around 11 societies to join and they were all societies like 'the Asian Society' or the 'Islam society' , leaving most people with no options for societies. It is good for sports, with 30+ teams, however the university puts them under clubs/teams rather than societies, and isn't great if you don't enjoy sports.
Great university, but has been shifting away from their strengths recently and should aim to go back to where it was
Good facility’s around the place, I like the fact that the maritime college will be in the spark building soon

As cadets we get put out a bit by the uni
It’s amazing to be a part of Solent! Really enjoying the time here
"Thank you Elizabeth for a wonderful stay at your LFW ! The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and clean facilities made my short visit exceptionally pleasant. I appreciate the hospitality and look forward to returning in the future."
solent university focuses on student well being very well. they are kind and welcoming and offer so much support for students, the housing on the other hand is a royal joke, commute if you can
The most “luxurious” school I ever set my foot in. Facilities-wise I cannot have any complaints, however, the building is very expansive which I study in the newer parts of, so the look and facilities may greatly differ.
A good university. I created good memories with my friends.
The film and media department is good but of course lacking in certain areas.
Still doing online learning despite Covid no longer being a major concern, more online then on-campus content
Loving my time at Solent! Almost everything has been great and everyone has been so kind. Only thing I could complain about is the procedure for new societies and information distributed for them
Changing facilities however staff remained focused and dedicated to the students
Good uni for creative courses, they have a lot of facilities for students to use.
It was a great experience to have studied at Solent.
A great uni with good teachers that keep on top of you to continue working
Good atmosphere Good learning environment
Good enough for what it needs to be
While the university was good, it lacked more practical application to my course (mechanical engineering) there was a lot of turbulence due to a teacher quitting in the middle of the studying year and of course covid has put everyone on their limits. But during covid the university did not adapt well their dynamic application to the given setting was not good. In the course too much theory and not actual practice.
Just finished my Yacht and Powercraft Design (BEng) with Honours, and going to do my Masters in Superyacht Design here now. Lecturers are amazing and well versed in the field with a lot of connections.
Pretty decent uni, friendly staff, good food
I think that even when Solent has not an overall better review compared to Southampton university I still admire by far what type of technical skills are searched when hiring staff, I said this because I really like the lecturers that I have
Amazing university with great technology!
So far so good it’s going alright
I have had a good experience of life as a student, living independently and pursuing my studies in a safe and hard working environment. Additionally all of the sports facilities and student union allowed it to be possible to have a good time and blow off some steam after all of the heavy revision sessions. Thank you solent!
Well organised and helpful support staff for queries ranging from courses to accommodation.
Great place to study as a Warsash Cadet!
Perfect university for me, didn’t think I could’ve got a better place to study.
Great University for creative courses.
Great school. I appreciate the teachers style of communication and the modules are quite easy to understand. The library is top notch, I could borrow laptops and take home. I love Solent
good learning environment, and well constructed courses
Really good facilities, and the students union is great. Always something going on and it’s very inclusive
Solent university Is the best communication and help
Everything is good except the career facilities like part time job or volunteer work. I felt problem with the part time jobs in Southampton
Great citadel of learning with friendly lecturers
Good university, everything you need, no frills, straight to the point
Reception staff are always very helpful and approachable.
A good university with lots of equipment that they provide. Good cafeteria places within the university with a wide range of food. Also many places you can sit and study including the well kept library.
great university and friendly staff
whilst the curricular side isnt very engaging for me, i like the athletic spirit of the university - the basketball games are fun to watch. my lectures are online so i don’t really feel very enthusiastic about the content.
Average , but not excellent !!!
Very poorly run living up to its old reputation
Great facilities, excellent lectures, amazing students union, however administration is poorly managed
I LOVE SOLENT UNI, THEY ARE THE BEST, EVERYONE THERE IS SO SUPPORTIVE
I've had an amazing amount of help from the university. I found out I had a learning disability and the tutors have been outstanding in helping me better myself.
Great experience and learning community. But could improve better with being more professional than more academic in nature
Great university availing many career courses. Faculties are just great.
A good uni and the staff are helpful. I do find that there is a lot of online learning when some of it would be best suited in person. I have had lectures leave every year and it feels like the course is badly planned because of it.
waste of money regarding the teaching level.
a online focused university rather than on campus
nice place to study. helpful staffs and facilities are good
Can't really comment on most, haven't experienced them
Brand new university with great facilities and nice environment, they have world-class facilities such as the maritime degrees and the Warsash academy training.
Great University. The Staff, Food, Campus and literally everything is amazing!
I haven't used much of the facilities yet but from what I have done I have no complaints.
They got the course I wanted to do and location was convenient
Im glad I chose to study at Solent. Wonderful tutors, wonderful help
For me, Solent university has offered everything it can in order for me to develop and grow as student who wishes to enter the music industry as a professional musician. The staff have been polite and well mannered and helpful with helping me to realise my potential.
My time at university has been amazing. I was provided with great academic support. COVID made that difficult but none the less it was a fun 3 years and a great experience here
For the two years I was able to spend at the university, it was fun. The library service was really good and the photography were great. But due to Covid, I wasn’t able to use any of the equipment in my final year. A bit frustrating but couldn’t be helped. Overall, I am satisfied with my choice of university.
Good experience and some helpful staff
Very good university, lecturers are fantastic and hoping to return to campus soon
Good university, with lecturers that explain well and good facilities
Solent University is really incredible. The University is very new and because of that it is not that high in the rankings, but I think that's going to change very quickly. The campus is new and technologically advanced, the staff is very helpful and the lecturers from my course are more than great!
The facilities and staff are amazing, although there hasn’t been much support from the students union and there aren’t many clubs and societies.
Great university and facilities
Great university, great lectures
Studied here for the first year this year and was incredibly disappointed. Teaching hours are very lacking, usually around or below 10 hours per week. Some timetabled classes are actually just "watch a video on youtube" but are still listed as class hours, when there is classes the majority of the time the tutor will just talk about pictures from google images for the entire session (very little practical teaching) and then most classes finishes 15+ minutes early. Teaching staff were nice enough, no problems but they didn't explain what we were actually supposed to be doing and it wasn't clear what was expected. Towards the end of every semester the teaching gets even worse, with all of the actual classes being replaced with 10 minute drop in sessions for the second half of the two semesters (teaching for the year finishes in March). No university community at all and societies are nonexistent so it's a pretty lonely place to study unless you're a people person, wouldn't recommend.
Pretty good COVID changed the experience however they were extremely unorganised
i do think the university has very good facilities but due to covid i'm am unable to access them
Solent is much better than expected. Staff are lovely and the facilities are always clean.
A lot of it is because of covid. The beurocracy and politics within the university really ruins the experience - especially with well loved teachers getting made redundant, contact time being cut etc
I’ve not been able to attend the uni that much due to corona but from what I have encountered, I have enjoyed it a lot.
Good uni but doesn’t blow out expectations
The lecturers are very helpful and usually available. The facilities are outstanding. Would definitely reccomend
I overall enjoy this university
Good university under every point of view. Some lecturers behaviour are not as professional as expected.
Friendly lecturers with decent room.
Its a good university with amazing people and good places and material.
honestly my favourite part of the uni is the ground floor classrooms, that students can book in spare time, and we can just chill on the spinny chairs while studying, practicing a presentation, or even just using it to watch a movie on the projector.
Nice and new campus, clean and well serviced facilites.
Solent has been nothing but amazing for me. It has enabled me to achieve my true potential and achieve nothing but 1sts or 2:1s in all my assignments. I was tempted to go to a university in Bournemouth but I'm so glad I didn't as Solent is sooooo such better. Bournemouth was boring and would have been an extra year! The facilities are great and it's so close to West Quay. The staff are so talented and helpful and your peers are friendly and helpful. Would 11/10 recommend to anyone who is considering. Just go to an open day and see for yourself.
First year student so far so not much to say yet. Good staff with a few weird ones. Facilities for me are great with access to great equipment. Campus is decent and close to city center. Didn’t go to many societies but did attend D&D, was fun and friendly though couldn’t secure a group. Met some awesome people on my course so far. Course is engaging and enjoyable. Looking forward to second year.
Not good at all especially the teachers
Hair and make up. no hygiene enforcement. The workshops are substandard level and if your wanting to join the system of teaching the mostly incorrect theory of it, without knowing how to actually do it. This is the place for you. False promises of classes that didn't happen. The degree I recieved should say 'YouTube researcher '. Go to delamar they all seem to be happy and educated there or go to Neil Gortons 7 week course or Andrew Whiteoak for hair and wig making or do a hnd at a college would probably be more practical and beneficial . Bournemouth apparently have the same problems but don't have personal experience. And if you do join push your teachers to be better and tell them what you want assertively. Keep asking if there going to help you. Don't let them tell you to YouTube something all the time you deserve a basic professional practical group workshop to learn. Constructive complaining!!!
I have no opinions about this yet.
This university is THE BEST !!!!!! The lecturers pay a lot of attention to you and make sure you understand everything. They are always ready to help! The lectures are educational but not boring! All lecturers try to make the lectures exciting! Haven't met a single lecturer that wasn't friendly! This is the uni I wanted to get into and I haven't had one regret !!!!! P.S. Criminology course rules!!!!!
Don't study Animation/Digital Animation at this university! Useless lecturers, lessons keep getting canceled, no guidance at all. Complete rip off!
i think the common area need more facility for people
Wifi doesn’t work in some rooms
All I can say is: Scam! Terrible management, abysmal course quality, student accommodation experience has given me ptsd. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Downloaded an entire episode of The simpsons on the libarary wifi
Excellent University with a lot of things to do.
Great university with great opportunities.
Great university facilities and staff, careers teams and academic support outstanding.
Through my degree my dyslexia support was poor. They kept moving everyone appointments without our permission as a political game. Was 0.2% off a 2:1 classification- my uncle died in the last month of hand its. It didn't count towards them. But my classmates death of her second cousin did, she didn't attend the funeral on hand in deadline for hers. You won't get support from supervisors, mine didn't even bother reading my dissertation before the deadline. Several of my classmates degrees got "rounded up" for 2:1 classification. Mine was the only one that wasn't. Thanks for the waste of time Solent!
Really good uni, very happy there
It’s an okay uni, don’t expect too much from any department, kinda just feels like a fancier college to be honest
