Studying at Edinburgh Napier University
Edinburgh Napier University has a community of 17,000 students from over 100 countries and is situated in the heart of Edinburgh, one of the worlds most renewed cities for its architecture and beauty. The university is based on three campuses, each of which has all the facilities students might need including places to eat, drink, plus IT, library and study suites. Each campus has its speciality areas; Merchiston for creative, computing and engineering programmes; Craiglockhart for the business school and Sighthill for social sciences and health programmes. All the sites are a short cycle or bus trip away from each other.
Edinburgh itself is well known for its art and music scene, home to the Edinburgh Festival every August plus hosting big acts and being a famous birth-place of new talent. There are festivals throughout the year plus theatres, venues, galleries, museums and a whole range of shopping and restaurants to take advantage of.
As well as being famous for its music scene, Edinburgh also hosts two football teams, a Rugby Union team and the Archery World Cup Final and Duathlon World Championships. Facilities available in the city include a climbing arena, dry ski slope, surfing and sailing centre, swimming and diving at the Royal Commonwealth Swimming Pool, sports fields, tennis courts, ice skating, paragliding, and athletics facilities. On the Sighthill Campus, students can also make use of the sports centre that consists of a sports hall, fitness classes and a gym with an Olympic weight-lifting platform. Edinburgh Napier University performs well in sport and as well as winning several league titles it had 4 competitors in the London 2012 Olympics.
The Students' Union, known as the NSA provides numerous events throughout the year such as club nights, foam parties, comedy, Ceilidh nights, socials, sports tournaments and shows. The newly appointed Maggie's Chamber Bar opened in 2012 and has plenty of entertainment on offer including Pool tables, juke box, Sega Megadrives and N64s, chill out areas and HD TVs showing sports. The NSA is the place place to go for those students wanting to get involved in volunteering. Not only can this be great fun and make a real difference in people's lives but it will also be a great point of interest when it comes to getting a job, post graduation. Additional to volunteering, the student advice service is also housed in the Students' Union as well as information on all sports clubs and societies.

Napier is great, but Sighthill needs more table space/staggered lunchtimes, and the WiFi is a bit rubbish. Vet nurses have very good employability rates though, and I do enjoy my classes. V good uni, but you will be mocked mercilessly by the snobs from UoE and Heriott-Watt.
Not only is the university good on an academic level but also has a hugh employment rate. They push you to go out in the real world and gain experience with companies in order to prepare you for when you graduate. The clubs and societies are run so well and you really feel like you're part of a community. The NSA always organise great events and activities throughout the year, especially at freshers week! Highly recommend going to this university.
Campus's are nice and in good locations, except for Sighthill campus which is a bit out of the way to get to. Decent clubs and societies however there could be more to cater for more people. Haven't had any issues with wifi so far with it being decent in both halls and within the campuses, however in halls it can be very temperamental.
