One of the nicest accommodations that Manchester has and really good value for money when you look at different universities' prices. Really good location, 10mins walk to main uni campus and 10 mins on bus/30 min walk to city centre. Really nice staff and 24/7 staff in the office. Security is really good too. Only issue I had is the social life is rubbish. Mainly international students, who prefer to stay in and study compared to having what I consider a typical uni experience. If you want somewhere social, go to Fallowfield which is the biggest accommodation. It's not as nice but it definitely makes up for it in the atmosphere.

Q&A

Hi member745772,
Thank you for your question.
We have a mixture of Undergraduates as well as Postgraduates, at Denmark Road, we used to host Welcome Party as well as a lot of different student events together. Amid COVID-19, we cannot host large group of gathering, but we are still doing giveaway events to celebrate different speical days; most recently the Chinese New Year & Valentines Day. We have also been doing monthly "The Big Night In" for students to join for free to enjoy some activities with their flatmates, etc. Ginger bread making, pizza baking... etc.
We also have a common area with study booths, playstation, pool table, table tennis table ...etc. for students to utilise, which you can see from the Virutal Tour and Photos from here: Denmark Road
We are ideally placed for studying in Manchester, and is just 2 minutes from the famous Oxford Road, home of both The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. We are also just 5 minutes away with a local supermarket and bus links on your doorstep.
Denmark Road is also just a 20 minute walk away from Manchester's lively city centre, which hosts a wide range of shops, bars, clubs, cinemas and theatres as well as excellent transport links to London and beyond. The iconic Old Trafford Stadium is just a short bus ride away.
Manchester Oxford Road Station can be reached within a 15 minute walk, and for travelling further afield, Manchester Piccadilly Station is easily accessible. You can visit here to see us on the map: Denmark Road Map
We are sorry that some of the students might feel that the social scene is not as great as other student accommodation, we are always open for ideas, please feel free to let us know if you have any great event ideas by contacting us via email!

Hi Member939868,
Thank you for your question.
We are sorry that some of the students might feel that the social scene is not as great as other student accommodations. However, every year we have got students that have met friends in Denmark Road and rebook with us next year to live in the same flat!

Hi Member635013,
Under regular circumstances, all students are entitle to a maximum of 2 nights of visitor staying per week. We appreciate that our students would have friends and family occasionally visiting and hence we have always welcome students to have guests. We believe you can understand that we also have to ensure all Security, Health & Safety concerns and regulations are adhere to and making sure that all students in the flat are comfortable with extra visitors.
Amid COVID-19 according to Government Guidelines, this is currently impossible as there should not be any mixing of households. Please contact us by emailing if there is any personal circumstances that you would like to let us know about and consider.
Further information regarding living with us in Denmark Road can be found in our Resident's Guide, specific visitor information is available on P.19.

Hi Member433707,
We have on-site laundry facilities that are provided by Circuit Laundry. We have 9 washers and 9 dryers on site, and we are now benefits from LaundryView which will make doing your laundry on-site even easier. The system, created by Circuit, allows you to go online and check the availability of washers and dryers in your building as well as see when other washes are about to end.
Circuit also offer laundry top-up cards which allow you to pay for your washing and drying in advance by paying online or using one of the on-site machines. You can then use your card to pay for washing and drying as well as top-up your card straight from your mobile phone using the Circuit app.
Ask our team where to get a top-up card and take a look at Circuit’s ‘how to use’ videos for more information.
More information about our facilities can be found on our webpage or Resident's Guide

Tenants rude, room had graffiti and needles in it. Forcing me to pay for a room I cant return to.

Hi Member953318, Thank you for your review and we are sorry you feel this way. We have checked all reports in our record and none of it matches the description you provided regarding graffiti and needles. Please kindly contact us by email or calling us so we can investigate and provide further assistance! At Denmark Road, we respect all students as everyone is an educated adult, where there is disputes within the flat, we advise students to talk to each other to achieve a resolution, and if this is impossible, to report to site team and the University. Before student's arrival, the room would have gone through maintenance checks and repair, deep cleaning, final check and lock down conduct by different staff. Upon arrival, all students will be given an inventory list about every item in both the room and kitchen; and we will arrange to have all mentioned issues resolved as soon as possible. Please kindly contact us to let us know which room you are/ were in so we can attend to it as soon as possible.

Hi Member449060, Thank you for your review and we will also pass on your positive comments to our team at Denmark Road! We have been trying to improve the social life in Denmark Road by hosting events (e.g. The Big Night In or local evens like Valentine's Day give aways). We have previously host Welcome Party in Denmark Road (with Barbeque ...etc) and different student events, wihtout a doubt this year 20/21 is very different hence we can only host small scale events. Rest assured that we will take in everyone's comment to improve our services and providing a better university experience for all students!
Great location. Terrible social life, it’s possible to have a good social life but it’s purely dependant on luck and having sound flat mates. I’m not saying you won’t make any friends but having lived here I can say I would’ve rather lived in fallowfield. The location is great but realistically you won’t be going to that many lectures in first year anyway coz you’re probably lazy so it’s not too much of an issue, plus so many people live in fallowfield that even though it’s far Away you’ll have people to go to lectures with so it’s not too bad. The rooms are really nice though tbf and there’s worse accoms at not too dissimilar prices. Of the en-suite accommodations I think Denmark road is the best. The common room is actually quite good although sparsely used and when it is it’s by international students so they’re hard to interact with. I’d say this halls is ~65% international students. You don’t get a cleaner. Just think about what you want from first year when you’re applyin
On the plus side; great location, only having to walk 5-10 minutes to lectures in the morning is a blessing. The rooms are modern and aesthetic. The double bed and en-suite is a plus, there is also a lot of storage space including underneath the bed. The kitchen and living area is spacious (keep it clean) On the down side; The walls are incredibly thin, I was unfortunate enough to have very loud flatmates and could hear everything, from the phone calls to the constant music-playing from 12pm-3am daily, it was detrimental to my studies, would have been more bearable with a little sound-proofing. The silverfish infestation in all of the bathrooms got very annoying after a while, I want to pee without a critter scurrying between my feet. As far as social life goes; it is what you make it. The management is the worst thing, there was a water issue (7 days without any running water) during term time, and there was no compensation or resolution from the staff, I became ill because of it.
One of the worst halls in terms of management. All throughout my year we have had multiple water issues with frequent water flow cuts and boiler issues. Days on end spent without water. Walls are also very thin. It is modern and nice flatmates (if you're lucky) but be vary of water issues
Really good location and I have great flatmates. The only problem is that the maintenance seems to take about a month to actually get anything sorted, oh and the bug problem in all the bathrooms is annoying too.
Pros: great location, modern building, decent sized room, en suite bathroom, double bed and a good kitchen. Cons: no sound insulation in the walls, not the greatest staff, temperatures in the room are hard to regulate, poor social life. Denmark Road is a nice place to stay if you want to live close to the university campus (5-10 min walk) and Oxford Road (2 min) with a great amount of busses to take you around Manchester. Not having to rely on public transport in the mornings should not be underestimated. Let’s be honest, nobody likes waking up for those early 9am lectures. That is probably the biggest advantage of living in Denmark Road. The building is modern with some decent common room facilities. Mainly a lot of empty space though, with a small seating are, a pool table and a ping-pong table. The rooms are bigger than average and come with double beds which is a big plus. You will have a lot of space for storage including under-bed storage to keep suitcases or other large it
Pros: Location - the accommodation is situated close to a range of shops and supermarkets - 5 minutes walk from Tesco, Sainsburys in the other direction, and Asda is about 15 minutes walk. The university is only a couple of blocks away. Rooms - Decent size, double beds, lots of storage space and a place to hang your coats. The ensuite is perfect and actually looks like a bathroom (not like some of the other halls of residence). The bed is comfortable and have a decent amount of space. Cons: The walls have no sound proofing whatsoever. My room was situated next to the kitchen (the wall which housed the cupboards and shelving units was directly on the other side). Very noisy at times. Temperature: Cool in the winter, but extremely hot in the summer. Needs some sort of cooling system, especially on the upper floors like my room. Overall, though, I would recommend staying here.
If you are looking for a good lively social experience. Don't come here. There is no social life whatsoever. Lovely rooms and double beds with ensuites but if you are looking for a good exciting uni experience don't stay here. Take it from experience I would have a much better time at uni if I didn't stay here. Harsh but true.
Where to start. The simple fact is your paying for the location and that it is pretty new. The people that live here are majority the type that stay in rooms keep themselves to themselves. If you want more social look elsewhere. The rooms are nice so if you want to sit in there thats fine-providing you have a good temperature regulator on your body. If you are on the higher floors in the summer periods it is like a sauna. In the winter the lower floors are literally like living in the arctic. There is no central heating and expect one small portable heater to heat the whole kitchen. Which switches itself off after 20 minutes. The security and res life team seem to treat you as children they have to nurture not the adults you are. If i had the choice i would have chosen somewhere else.
Positives: -Big room, double bed, huge bathroom. -Well-equipped kitchen Negatives: -Non-existent sound proofing (i.e. I hear it when my flatmate's phone vibrates, sleep with the lullaby of my flatmate's snores, and can hear every conversation that goes on in their rooms, including what their mum is telling them on Skype) -Cleaning services: Most other halls provide cleaning of the kitchen, but not for Denmark Road. Which is okay, since university students should be old enough to tidy up their own spaces, but when you've got dirty flatmates who refuse to cooperate, you've got to be the maid. What's worse, when I first moved in, the room was covered with what I could only assume to be leg hair of the previous tenant. I wonder if any cleaning was done between leases. -Heating: Has a heater that shuts off every 2 hours. Meh.
had a rodent issue all year long. considering this is one of the most highest priced halls per week, that is appalling.
Not many social events organised
Amazing location and standard of room, but no social life whatsoever
I have friends in every hall and I can easily say Denmark road is the best one. Because all of them say you live in the best hall.
One of the nicest halls, rooms are big and nicely decorated. Kitchen and rest of flat are very modern and in great condition. A fairly quiet place but still have some great social nights out!
Beautiful but small rooms, great location, very quiet.
Really lovely and quiet, friendly atmosphere and great facilities.
I absolutely love living here and wouldn't change anything. The staff is great! The woman in reception has done her homework and knows what flat your in just by looking at you and that makes you feel so at home and welcome.
The internet speed is horrible. The estate is pretty clean and well organised.
Great for if you're used to a bit of luxury. But if you want a more social first year I'd recommend anything in Fallowfield. Whilst Denmark is great for if you want to do work it's kind of boring on the weekends. Absolutely love my room and kitchen though, it's definitely better than what I've seen in other accommodations.
Clean and great location but expensive and not very buzzing.
Very modern and good quality halls very handy in terms of location! Not good if you want to live somewhere woth good friendly atmosphere as is very quiet with not much going on
Halls are very quiet and there are not many social events
Positives: You get a great living space with a TV, sofa, spacious kitchen between a flat of six people. Bedrooms are all large with a double bed and ensuite. One of the closest halls to campus, only a ten minute walk away. Potential Negatives: The cost is very high, just under six grand for the year, but you do get value for money, these are probably the best halls on the whole campus facilities wise. For most phone networks not great signal, and the wifi isn't extremely fast though decent enough. Cleaners only clean the corridors/ social spaces so it's up to you and your flatmates to clean your rooms and living space. Can be a little noisy if you're on a lower floor since you're in the city centre. Overall if the cost doesn't put you off I would definitely recommend staying here, they're great halls.
amazing location and rooms makes up for social life. Social scene isn't as good as fallowfield campus but still meet some amazing people. Vast amounts of international students tend to choose these halls
Three blocks for UoM which are pretty live. Private blocks dead during term
