Constant noise. Maintenance in all your room, communal areas and outside 24/7. It’s been hell. I do not recommend staying here for university as construction work begins from 7 every morning throughout your studies. 3 skyscrapers being built across the next 2/3 years right on the doorstep of Arena Village. Complained hundreds of times, including almost 99% of the current students have. Yet the management apologise, and do not act. In addition, the Facilities inside are also horrendous. Botched jobs on broken/semi broken household kitchen appliances. Tiny shower, where you can brush your teeth, sit on the toilet and shower at the same time. However, the worst thing about Arena Village is the fact, I’m paying £160 and my WiFi does not even load throughout the day. I have spent a fortune on 4G upgrades to cope with my studies to ensure I do not fall behind at university. The internet does not load during peak hours. I highly do not recommend to stay here. 1 star treatment.
I've now lived at Arena Village for 2 years and it's the best! Right next to town and all the nights out plus nandos and great restaurants. My flatemates were awesome and are my best friends now some are on my course so we can go to the library together - also really near! The staff are really helpful and friendly, they always give out free stuff and knew my name after the first week. Gym on site and another one next door which is a bonus. Would highly recommend.
I was put into clv when I didn't get my first choice for halls (central village). When reading the reviews of where I was going to be living for the next year my heart literally sank at how negative they were and honesty thought it was going to ruin my uni experience. However there are some good points about clv 1) location is literally a 10/10. Right near the city centre, which was ideal for nights out, also really near uni 2) free access to gym upstairs (it's tiny so don't expect much) 3) basically right next to morrisons and the merrion centre where you can literally get all your essentials 4) kitchen and flat size is relatively bigger in comparison to others in different halls But however. Clv does have some bad points 1) wifi is utter s***. Sometimes you wouldn't get it for over and hour 2) I can only speak for myself, but my flat was in an utter state when I arrived eg- hadn't cleaned in kitchen, randomers clothes in wardrobes, Hoover was broken
An accommodation which is in an amazing location - just 10 mins walk from the shops and a 15 min walk to Leeds uni. The perfect location! Also at £110 (2014/15 prices) it is well worth the value for money as it includes an en suite and a gym upstairs!
Great facilities, even better location that is 2 minutes walk from the centre of the city (great after nights out). However, because there are a mixture of Leeds met and uni students, the social side isn't great. It feels more like a hotel than halls which also makes it seem less sociable. I still had a great time though, made my best friends in my flat, and went to flat parties in friends halls.
Look for the 2 star review on Google. Really not worth staying at CLV Leeds if it can be avoided. Size wise, it's okay. Cleanliness wise, its poor (only due to other disgusting students in the building). Socially, it is horrific. It was literally impossible to be friends with my flatmates, and I know a lot of other tenants who hated their stay 2014-2015. See the Google reviews for more description.
For what you get these halls aren't the worst. What is absolutely disgusting is the management and staff. For one, the allocation of rooms is completely poorly thought out. I am aware of some people that have been the only person of one nationality living in a flat in which the others are of the same nationality leaving them feeling completely excluded. Also the quality of maintenence is extremely poor. When I arrived at my room, it was in a disgusting state : mosquitoes covering the walls, black mould in the bathroom etc. Also I had an issue with my sink in that when ever the tap was turned on it essentially brought up sewage. This took three weeks to be fixed. When we had an issue with our kitchen sink the maintenence man flooded our entire kitchen, leaving the carpet damp and foul smelling. When we had inspections they failed us for things such as a leaky fridge and dared to charge us £30 for a cleaner. They are only interested in your money, which as a student isn't plentiful.
