What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

It is an amazing place to live. As a postgrad I was concerned I will be in put in flats with random student but I got to have my own studio. the rooms are spacious. Even the staff helped so much during my stay. Crown place had so many events to look forward to and I was able to make many friends.

Well located accom with food staff
I am a 3rd year undergraduate student, from China, who was looking for a 35 week contract, as my studies finished in May. The Crown Staff were happy to help me secure this. I chose Crown as the Instagram was very good allowing me to see lots of people from different countries, and my friends also recommended staying here. I cant wait to move in.
Overall my experience here is amazing, the facilities, the living area, kitchen ect, lots of space to work with and for a student accommodation the space in the actual rooms is pretty good.
I am a Chinese Postgraduate Student, and have enjoyed my time living at Crown Place, where many of my friends now live. It is really close to all supermarkets and the town centre and bus station, which makes commuting easy. I also needed to extend my contract for a short time, until December and they helped me to do this,.
Having it been my first year in University I was nervous about making new friends, however the staff, who are really friendly and accommodating, host a multitude of different social events throughout the year for you to be able to meet new people and socialise. The building itself and it's social spaces are always immaculate and available to use whenever you want to. It's location is also perfect as it's only a 5-10 minute walk to places like Aldi for food shopping, or to Wind Street for GWA Wednesdays. There's also a bus stop right outside the building which makes getting a bus around the city and to and from campuses super easy. All in all my experience in Crown Place during my first year was amazing, and I wouldn't have wanted to have stayed anywhere else.
I am an Indian Postgraduate Student studying in Swansea. I initially arrived in January 2024, and only needed a short term extension to February 2025, which the accommodation team allowed me to do. Crown Place is really friendly, and is close to everything from supermarkets, the city centre, train station and the City Church. I have enjoyed my time here.
I am an Indian international student studying in Swansea, and have lived in two of the accommodation buildings here. Crown Place, was better as it was closer to the town centre, had supermarkets really close, and the bus stop was right outside; so getting home was quick. I have rebooked my accommodation here for my final year as well.
I’ve had an excellent year at Crown Place. The staff are great. The office staff are always ready to help with anything, the maintenance team sort any issues I’ve raised straight away and they’re all always up for a chat! The student hub has been great for me to study in and the cinema room has been used a lot! The building is always kept clean and is in a great location near UWTSD and a bus stop opposite for the other campuses. We’re always kept up to date with anything happening such as social events or maintenance work on email or posters around the building.
This past year at Crown place has been a great experience, the room was comfortable and it felt homely despite being far away from home. The staff was very kind and were always willing to help out with any doubt or help that I needed. Throughout the year there were various social events held in an effort to create a community at crown place and I can say that I did in fact meet some people and make friends as a result of these events. There was always an opportunity to collect some goodies at reception and it was fun to see the smiles on the staff members faces when students took something from the reception. All in all I can say that if I ever return to Swansea for studies I will definitely return to Crown place as it feels like a perfect place designed specifically with students in mind.
The staff at crown place have been amazing, any issues I’ve had - have been resolved with ease. Brad in particular has been great, and honestly put students first. The building is always clean, and maintenance team are always on hand incase anything breaks. The staff get to know you on a personal level which make it a better place to live! The accommodation itself is 4 minute walk to the centre - with shops and cafes close. I would fully recommend any student to crown place!
As a Chinese Doctorate student, Crown Place provides a calm experience, right on the River Tawe. The social spaces are very good, the staff are very helpful and the building is a short walk to the supermarket, the city centre and the beach. I study at UWTSD, and this is the closest accommodation to their SA1 campus. If you are studying at Swansea University, there are bus stops right outside which take you to the Bay Campus and Singleton.
This is my first year living at Crown Place and my experience has been an amazing experience. The location is fantastic, with shops and the beach really close by. It is really close to both campuses. The building is really clean, and the rooms are perfect for students, it is a quiet building which also provides you with a study room and the student hub which is perfect for studying if your looking for a quiet place. The cinema is perfect when you have friends over, as well as the karaoke room. The rooms are very spacious, and if your lucky and get the river facing room you will love it. I feel like the pricing with washing and drying your clothes could be decreased a little bit but other than that Crown Place is amazing. The staff are also extremely nice, and happy to help with anything you need, and the security also provide a feeling of safety to Crown Place.
I moved into Crown place in 2022, when the building had not yet been finished completely. Although this was not ideal, reception staff and security could not have been more helpful getting me comfortable with staying there. The location is great for my university campus (UWTSD) and is approximately a 5min walk to Sainsburys, 10min walk to Aldi, and a 15min walk to Lidl or the city centre. Traffic around the building is usually okay, but the roundabout outside Crown Place is busy in the mornings and at rush hour. Laundry was the worst bit - it is relatively expensive (over £6 for a wash and dry) and you need to use an app (cards are not available). But I've always been able to do laundry reliably. The best thing about Crown is the staff and night security - all are extremely friendly and willing to help out with any questions or problems you have Internet was fast and mostly reliable - I used ethernet which gave me great upload and download speeds and is available under every desk
Crown Place is a great place to live as a student. There are plenty of events organised on a regular basis by the team. Very clean place and the building is new.
It is a really friendly place, nice and clean and I have had no issues here, which is great when your studying a Postgrad course.

Crown Place is one heck of an accommodation building. The location is fantastic as it's in the city centre and provides amazing blissful walks due to its scenery. The staff are great, helping solve issues immediately and going above and beyond to assist you. The rooms are modern and there are a lot of facilities such as a gym, study spaces and a cinema room. The social aspect could be improved and it is quite pricey but then again so is everything nowadays, Overall I would call Crown Place my home and that's the biggest compliment you could give.

Crown Place has been my home for two years now and I am not looking forward to moving out from my Superior Studio when I graduate in 2025. The spectacular view of the River Tawe, Swansea Marina and the rolling skies makes this room my happy place. The studio is equipped with all the necessary equipment and furniture that’s just appropriate for student living. The community areas and amenities on site are excellent and the premises is well maintained. Crown Place assures the safety of its residents and has an extremely proactive administration team under the able management of Brad Wood. Every member of the team made my initial transition from home so easy. I definitely recommend choosing Crown Place as your place of residence in Swansea.

Perfect place to stay while your at Uni, its super well organised and very clean and tidy. the staff are all lovely and couldn't be more helpful. I was at Student roost for my first year and this was a much better experience

我我挑选了有两个窗子，有阳光的房间，还有河景，非常舒适~房间有多种选择的。举例威尔士tsd大学很近，上课去图书馆都很方便，对面就是sainsbury大超市，和一个生活商圈，距离市中心酒吧街走路5分钟。网速很快，20M，几个g的游戏更新也就一两分钟就好了。在河边还有一个开放的户外休息区，夏天很舒适。游戏房，卡拉OK房，大厨房，健身房都有，内部装修很新。我觉得钱花的比较值，住宿舍真的什么都不用操心🥳
السكن مرتب وحلو، وموقع السكن افضل مقارنة بالسكنات الاخرى وأيضاً الجلسات والمناسبات داخل السكن مفيد وكل شي موجود مثل البليارد وجيم مفيد وحتى غرفة غسيل الملابس وغرفة معينة للمناسبات
If I could use one word to describe Crown it would be FANTASTIC. I have lived here 2 years, and cant wait for my third. Everything about the place is first rate. It is so close to both Uni's, has Supermarkets on its door step, a short walk to the train station and beach, and a view of the River which is amazing. I must give a special shout out to the site team who really do want to look after the residents. They have a created a real culture of belonging here and really want to make us feel like we are really welcome.

my time so far at crown place has been very good it has Perfect connection for studying and entertainment throughout my stay and for personal usage, its An excellent and safe location with a large range of amenities and close to key facilities and has a bike garage i regularly use which is safe for bikes.
Lovely staff who are always helpful and the location is right next to everything you need from buses and supermarkets to pubs bars and clubs.

My experience at crown place has been nothing but pleasant. The location of the property is extremely convenient being a 10 minute walk to the city centre and within close vicinity of various supermarkets. The fact that there is a bus stop next to the building that takes you to town or directly to the university is so helpful. The price you pay for the rooms/studios is entirely reasonable considering the location, quality of the rooms and the amenities available (gym, karaoke room, cinema room). I have also felt safe during my stay thanks to the security operation staff (which are extremely friendly). Overall, I really enjoyed my stay throughout these 2 academic years and would definitely recommend it to new students.

I've really enjoyed my time at Crown Place this year. The staff are always bubbly and happy to help, this goes for maintenance and security too. Whether it's issues with the rooms or with other students they're always happy to help to the best of their ability, helping me move rooms for my final term when I had issues with a flatmate. I would say that the only issue with the student spaces is the Study room being next to the pool and ping pong table, but you quickly get used to it and it is still definitely a wonderful place to sit and study, I also know of some students using it to play card games regularly. The social experiences are also a key part of the experience, I have attended many myself this year and have enjoyed my time at them all, the staff running each event are always approachable and up for a chat and there are always snacks and drinks for everyone, no matter the preference. Very much recommend it if it's in your price range! (:
I lived in crown place (the first year it was open) and loved it, everything was great! Especially the location. With an easy journey to both university campuses and just a 5 minute walk to the city centre! Would definitely recommend!

Crown place is the perfect student accommodation to stay in whether you are a first year or final year student. The location is very central to both Bay and Singleton campus. The town centre, bus station and train station are all walking within walking distance. Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Asda and Tesco are all nearby. There is a bus stop directly outside the accommodation for both Bay and Singleton buses. There is a beautiful body of water outside. The accommodation team is very helpful. There is a cinema, karaoke room, gaming room, gym and fine dining room. There are multiple social places such as the student hub. There is a book shelf from which you can take books to read. The accommodation is very safe and peaceful environment. There are vending machines. Crown always hosts wonderful events such as The Chineese New Year, Galentine’s, Pancake day. There is a diverse range of students that stay here. Overall, I strongly recommend you consider staying at Crown.
