Susan is a lovely lady very helpful and welcoming
Elle made me feel really comfortable here, if I had any problems I would come speak to her if she was on shifts. Also really talkative in the good way, also big up Susan she’s ace love her to bits.
Absolutely terrible student accommodation. I didn’t have a working toilet for months despite repeatedly reporting the issue. Numerous other problems on top of that and if maitenence was ever schedueled it was always at an inconvenient time with short notice. The on site laundry always had broken machines and the app doesn’t link with certain banks meaning washing clothes impossible for some. Everyone that I had spoken to at the accommodation also had at least a couple problems such as lights, oven, fridge etc breaking. Wifi is slow and made online lectures difficult as they would just cut out meaning you would need to go back and rewatch parts. No real social space apart from a smoking area. Would not recommend to anyone.
The accomodation I stayed in was convenient for me to go to uni. The receptionists were very nice and helpful.
Previous rating 2* now gladly 4*. Management take over was needed (previous reviews on here were correct at time of writing). It’s not a 5* for me yet, things are getting done and it really can be seen around the site but we are the only flat that still have the fabric single seats in the living room that we were told in 2018 would be changed… It would be good to see the consistency shown around site in the actual flats. Can genuinely say I’m looking forward to my 3rd year here and the refresh of the garden area for the start of semester 1 in Sept 21. Affordable £400 a month stable, all bills included (NEW washing machines have just been installed! Although that’s payable to Circuit). Location is exactly where you want for city living. FREE PARKING. 24hr reception always friendly, thanks to Cheri particularly . They also match students up for age etc so if you start uni in your 20s chances are there will be others to. I recommend staying at Mealmarket now.
You pay for what you get with the room. The location is really good for morrisons and for going out in town if we weren’t in a pandemic. I’ve had some issues with mealmarket previously and felt a man who used to work there was really rude and just generally really horrible.
Lovely staff who will help out wherever possible, a lovely community feel. Feels safe even with its central location. Rooms are a good size and are easily made to be your own. Lived here 2 years and has defos been the best value for money and friendliest student accommodation I’ve seen.
If you’re looking for student halls with unprofessional staff who will try to charge you for rent after you’ve cancelled your lease and then refuse to give your deposit back then mealmarket is a good choice for you. Mealmarket staff also don’t like it when you post useful information about cancellation policies that could help other students, so if you try to do that they will block you on their Facebook page. If you want a luxury of only 4 communal washing machines which are out of order most of the time, and tumble dryers that don’t dry then again mealmarket is a place for you. And you can’t forget the loud parties, and screaming and shouting even during exam periods - reception staff sadly can’t do anything about it as they are too busy doing their hard jobs of blocking people on Facebook (And that’s not a joke- it must be a genuinely difficult task as the WiFi at mealmarket is terrible!)
Staff mostly nice. Wifi dropped every 20 min. In 44 weeks cleaner came twice in total. Electrics failed in kitchen multiple times.
The management are a joke, never resolve issues, the desk is never open at set times, you'll be lucky if its open when you get back from a long day at uni. The rooms are outdated and not safe, the locks dont work properly and the building is so cold
The best thing about Mealmarket is its location. However, even at that, it's a trek from the University of Aberdeen. Some of the staff are friendly but this is countered by certain members of management who are unfriendly, rude and clearly only used to dealing with first or second year students as they treat everyone like they are just out to cause problems, e.g. accusing people of deliberately setting off fire alarms (who actually does that?), playing music too loud to bother neighbors etc. The discount that is advertised is ridiculously difficult to actually get because for some reason it isn't taken off your rent immediately. The facilities are also very basic and poor quality and the whole building has an isolated feeling to the extent it's almost like living in your own prison block. Overall I wouldn't stay at mealmarket again.
Stayed at Mealmarket for 2 years now and have really enjoyed living here! Great location with everything close by including bus stop to RGU. Staff are great and the fact they are onsite 24/7 makes it feel super safe. The only thing is the kitchen cleans were stopped which was a great help in ensuring the living area of the flat was kept clean and tidy for everyone within the flat. Also, there isn't a great social space (small bit at reception) but events held here are always super fun!
very very very very very very good
Living here is really nice! The staff a really helpful and the location is perfect. I like the fact that everything is very close by and it takes me less than thirty minutes to get to my university. I would highly recommend moving into this accommodation.
I have lived in this accommodation almost two years and found that it is such a comfortable place. Due to it is nearby to food sources e.g. M&S and Morrisons actually it took around five mins to the food. Similarly, the distance between this accommodation and University of Aberdeen is just 1.3 km, which is not that far. Finally, the staff will be willing to help you anything you asked.
Great value for money and everyone is willing to help out
Having stayed at Mealmarket for the duration of my whole uni degree, I cannot recommend this place enough! The rooms are spacious, the staff are amazingly helpful, and all utility bills are covered within your single rent payment. A 2-minute walk from Morrisons, the city centre, and your closest bus stop make for a great location and when comparing rent prices, this is a no-brainer.
It is in a great location with a bus stop literally outside your door which goes to RGU and a 20mins walk to Aberdeen University. Its a 5min walk to the city centre and a morrison supermarket right beside it. The rooms come with everything you could need (ample storage, desk space). The management team is always very helpful and friendly, very accommodating to all of your needs! I would definitely recommend!!
Amazing location, a bus stop literally outside your door and 5mins to the city centre! Rooms come with everything you could need (storage, desk space). The management team is always very helpful and friendly, very accommodating to all of your needs! I would definitely recommend!!
Central location as it is next to Morrison's (one of the biggest supermarkets), 7 mins walk from the city and 15 mins walk from the University of Aberdeen with bus stops surround in the area. Really friendly staff who are always willing to help you and make your stay feeling like home. Overall, clean in the common areas and a cosy environment!!
This is a really nice place to live. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will sort out any issues you have regarding your room/ flat and any other queries. The location is excellent and the flats are very nice. The rooms are nice and clean and well fitted inside, will a large spacious desk and many areas for storage eg. shelves, drawers, a cupboard and even underbed storage. There are also different events which are hosted in reception, where you get free food/ drinks/ additional goodies. For example, there are free toastie Tuesdays and free breakfasts on Thursdays as well as other events. Free teas/ coffee/ hot chocolate etc are always available to takeaway from reception too which is really handy! I highly recommend this accommodation as it gives me everything I could have asked for!
I liked my stay here. The staff members are really helpful and available 24/7. The wifi sometimes acting strange but no other problems. It is close to everything which is really convenient
This accommodation is an amazing place. This place is not far from University of Aberdeen and near Morrisons. You will spend around 20 mins to the university by walk and just 5 mins to Morrisons. There are basic things including kitchen already provided for you. Staff is very kind and ready to help you when you face any problems. In every festivals, there is a party relating to such festival, which will be taken place in order to enjoy people who live here and make them have happiness. These are the reasons why I choose to live here another year.
Excellent location & very secure place to stay, a secure carpark and 24 hour staff. There is always free evets on for students to attend, staff are very friendly and approachable
I stayed for a whole academic year and it was a nightmare. Only to mention some problems:My flat had a problem with the frost and we complainted a lot until they fix it. All the kitchen appliances were in an awful condition. Although the staff reasurred us that they will sort out everything, they just ignored us. The cleaners cleaned only the surfaces and the floor on the kitchen and not the fridge, the oven and the corridor!! Stupid events with none to attend. The rent was extravagant comparing to what you can pay in the private sector in Aberdeen after the oil and gas crisis. And on the top of this you pay extra your laundry. Really bad customer service and tried to keep my deposit as well as from other ex residents at the end! Although, the location was fantastic, easily access to city center and bus stop and excellent rooms in good conditions, I had always hot water and internet.
Great Location, made loads of new friends which has made the whole experience a great one. The staff at reception are amazing! They have helped me so much whether it be with my accommodation questions or where to eat, local area or where to start a night out. The facilities on site are great too. Any maintenance issues have been resolved super quick along with having 24/7 staff and the fortnightly kitchen cleans help A LOT!
