Powis Place offers students in Aberdeen stylish rooms and fantastic facilities in a prime location. You’ll be no more than a seventeen-minute walk from the University of Aberdeen and a thirty-one-minute cycle from Robert Gordon University. Right on your doorstep, you’ll have shops, amenities, food outlets and public transport links.
Powis Place has extensive facilities and amenities, this includes fantastic social spaces such as an onsite gym, a communal lounge with games and a TV, an outdoor area and a rooftop terrace. There’s also a handy onsite laundry room, bike storage and car parking available at an additional charge. You can also benefit from having WiFi, all-inclusive rent, CCTV, vending machine, contents insurance and on-site maintenance.
You can choose between a stylish and well-equipped studio or an ensuite room. The studios are ideal for those after a bit more space to themselves as they are self-contained with an ensuite, kitchenette and living space. Alternatively, you can go for a 2-bedroom apartment where you share a kitchen, bathroom and living area with your flatmate. All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I suggest to offer cleaning services for kitchen in shared apartments, even with extra charge. Also, I faced uncomfortable experiences with the flatmate as they were partying on weekends and my room is next to the kitchen.

Overall my year at this accommodation wasn’t the worst ever. The best part was my flat mates who I got along well with. The issues came from the building itself. Firstly our kitchen was infested with bugs, to the point of there being around 10 a day just crawling on the floor or inside of our cupboards. At first someone came to spray the bugs however after months of no improvements my emails simply got ignored by the company and building manager and nothing else was done about this. I have an extreme fear of insects so this made this year quite difficult for me. Another issue was just the overall condition of the building and rooms. My bathroom floor was extremely creaky and bouncy and no one came to properly fix it. I just got given a dehumidifier for a week which did nothing to solve the problem. There are cracks everywhere and there was duct tape on our windows. In general the condition of the accommodation and the bug issue makes me not want to recommend this place to anyone.

The geographical environment here is good, 15 minutes from the University of Aberdeen, 5 minutes from Lidlr, 8 minutes from Morrison, 10 minutes from the city centre, is a very good place.

I think this apartment is very good, located between the school and the city center, both sides are very convenient, and there are also various basic facilities such as a gym and laundry room. In addition, the residents in P P are very friendly and very worth checking in

A few issues that haven’t been dealt with- fridge, freezer

I managed to book into Powis Place at a much later date than others, around July / August or so as I received my offer from UoA much later. Unfortunately Powis had no spaces left, but a girl on Facebook was advertising her room for a tenancy exchange. I took the offer and had a smooth transitioning process thanks to the staff at reception being amazing at their job. Not long after I went to view my room and the receptionist Grace was amazing at showing me all around the premises and giving me information about Powis. The moving in day was nice and easy, Grace was super helpful and assured me the staff would answer any queries regarding my stay. I did have an issue with one of my hangers being a bit dodgy but that was resolved the next day. Throughout the year the staff host events with free snacks and drinks making everyone feel at home. Grace has been doing an amazing job as a receptionist and is always very friendly and welcoming to any queries anyone could have.

I have loved staying here at Powis Place. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. Grace is always so smiley and understanding, she’s always very helpful and reliable. When I was filling in my forms and sending over documents they were very patient and understanding. I was quite worried/anxious with moving so far away from home but Katherine was so lovely on phonecalls and helped reassure me. The team made sure I got an all female flat like I asked for and put me with a lovely group of girls. The staff make an effort to get to know each student, they remember your names! There is an amazing gym here too which has a good range of machines. There are so many fun social events like free breakfast and pastries, soup day, pumpkin carving contests which makes it really welcoming and gives a sense of community. The location is great too, there is a Lidl just about 7 minutes away! I would recommend this place to any new student looking for a homely accommodation!

Especially Kathryn, who helped me find a room from my first call and got me a tenancy agreement without any difficulty. I am also very grateful to Natalie from Fraser Studios, because this person arranged the contract for me in the most convenient way, and also helped me to carry all my things to the right room when I was checking in. I really want to mention the intern Grace, who is very responsive and ready to help. International students can often have difficulty with guarantor services, and I was no exception. I am grateful to Kathryn for helping to resolve this issue very quickly and efficiently. Powis Place has very nice people who really care about the students who live here. nice apartment, I’m a Chinese student of UoA. I really like this apartment, because their workers are very friendly to Chinese, especially in some Chinese traditional festival, they will paste some paintings to celebrate Chinese festival that makes me feel like live in Chine.

They offer the best studio and best gym in Aberdeen! The staff are friendly and helpful. One thing hope can be fix in the future is the speed of Wi-Fi in the room at the corner is unstable.
The gym really is pretty great huh?! We take pride in our en-suites and studios as well as the site overall. Wi-Fi issues can usually be resolved by contacting Glide directly, give them a call or email, I'm sure they can resolve this issue.
Powis place was a very friendly, homely feeling place. Phil personally for me went up and beyond, always there for a chat when I needed and helpful in times that were more serious. Anyone who is thinking of staying at powis place I do highly recommend, and always remember to go down to the office for a daily chat :) thank you for all the kindness and welcoming feel.

Phil is very friendly with all the students and there is a great social environment created in powisplace. I am glad I picked to stay here because I have made lots of friends. The gym is really good and the roof terrace is cute. Good value for money, I would recommend.

An excellent facility with excellent staff. Would definitely recommend people to choose this student accommodation for their residence. Powis place has a 24 hour gym available as well, so if you ever need to blow off steam at any time it is perfect. The reception is kind and more than willing to sort out any sort of issue you may face and the free annual bus pass provided definitely seals the deal
The bus pass is certainly useful for anyone studying at RGU, there is also a cashback offer for anyone who feels they wouldnt benfefit from a bus pass. The gym is great too and just at the bottom of your stairs! Glad you are happy!!
My stay here so far has been spectacular. My room is just amazing and so spacious equipped with running hot water 24x7 and a radiator. The staff at Powis Place have been so helpful and supportive with respect to the resident's concerns and what not. This is an amazing place to live in! Home away from home!

I've been living at Powis Place for two years now and I am fully satisfied from my experience! The rooms are very nice and cozy, and the staff is amazing! They are all very helpful and friendly and make everyone's experience amazing daily!! Also a lot of social events are organised very often (currently online due to the Covid-19 pandemic), that give the chance to residents to get to know each other and have fun!! I 100% recommend it!!

The place is just 5-10 mins walking distance to lidls and Morrisons. The bus stop is just outside the accommodation. The people at the reception are friendly and often give out free goody bags and snacks for students. It is a nice place to stay.

We do like to look after our students, and who doesn't love a wee freebie :-) the short walk to Lidl seems to be a favourite of some of the students, not sure if it has anything to do with their delicious in house fresh bakery...if you haven't tried their croissants yet, I would highly recommend it!

I can only be thankful to every worker of this accomodation, being at Powis Place felt like being at home thank to their huge kindness. The accomodation in full is magnificent, the gym is amazing and the rooms cannot be better. Personally I need to specially thank the receptionist Philip who helped me during my time in Powis Place and also during the COVID-19 pandemic becoming himself into my personal saviour which I will always remember and be thankful for.

Great place to stay for university accommodation! The staff at reception are so friendly and helpful. It is in a great location as it's near to University of Aberdeen and a 30 mins bus ride/walk from the city centre (Union Street)! Also there is great transport links to Robert Gordon University. Would definitely recommend staying here!
