Tramways Biography
Tramways couldn't be closer to campus as the University of Salford is a mere ten-minute walk from the property. The local shopping centre is a short fifteen-minute walk away and the train station is a ten-minute walk away.
For your well-being, there is a 24-hour caretaker and maintenance support. You can have peace of mind knowing there is free contents insurance, on-site security, CCTV and handy on-site laundry facilities. There are no hidden costs as all bills are inclusive and there is free Wi-Fi.
There are 228 ensuite rooms on offer which are all fully furnished with a comfy bed, storage space and a study area. Rooms are in flats of between 4 or 6 students that share the use of a kitchen and lounge area.

The WiFi could be quicker and more communal activities could be done

Decent accommodation with friendly and helpful management, however fixtures are outdated and kitchens are small, walls/windows are very thin and everything just feels a bit cheap and shabby.

good value for money, any maintenance requests get seen to quickly, good communication from staff at reception, close to a corner shop and also supermarkets are around 20 minute walk away, close to university and has a bus stop about 10 minutes walk away to get into town or to go to trafford centre

When I arrived to my flat the room had a lot of midges and fruit flies, the mattress isn't the most comfortable, there isn't any social areas out of the flat and WiFi went down and took a few days to repaired, but rooms are nice but blinds let in a lot of light

As we are located close to the river, we do get midges and flies which we can't control but we do advise students to close their windows if the light is on as to not attract them. Living in tramways is one of the most convenient thing that I’ve done since moving from Newcastle to Manchester. Living at tramways is very beneficial especially if you’re going to The University of Salford. They have a range of shops around that are all a walkable distance, which as a University taking public transport is a waste of money especially if your not working whilst in University. Staff and students that live and work in Tramways are extremely friendly as they make sure that you feel at home.

Tramways has been a great accommodation. There’s a variety of students who live here (First years to Postgraduate) so you can meet different people all the time. The management is efficient, friendly and professional. The accommodation is kept clean, the rooms are spacious and there is storage. Kitchens have a lot of cupboard space. Overall, this accommodation has been great and would highly recommend.

I enjoyed my time at tramways, it felt safe and security/building management were always there to help. The most annoying thing was when they changed the post collection time from only 9-5 Monday to Friday meaning you couldn't collect post on weekends which was very inconvenient.

I’ve loved my time here the rooms are spacious the water is always hot (gets hot really quickly though in the sinks) the staff are very friendly and helpful we’re kept up to date on all the important bits the wifi is good throughout the buildings but there’s a lot of spiders and flies because of how close we are to the river this isn’t really an issue in the bedrooms more corridors and kitchen. Everyone around is super nice and I’ve made some good friends here it’s close to the university which is a blessing sometimes

Tramways has been a pleasure to stay at during my second year of university. The rooms are a perfect size, along with the kitchen and bathrooms. Unfortunately there are not really any social places where everyone can gather outside of each flat. Staff here are a delight and I always look forward to collecting parcels from reception to have a chat. I will be staying here for my third year of university and would recommend this accommodation to everyone who studies at the University of Salford.

Great in my first year, but not very sociable or clean. Spacious rooms with en suite, great. Laundry room and communal spaces not so great.

This place has been nothing but amazing!! Before moving in, I was super apprehensive especially after reading the reviews on Google. However, upon arrival and after 3months, I began to love it and found it so comfortable. It immediately became my home away from home! I am going to miss it dearly and I cannot recommend this place enough! It is a steal!

Great place, could be better for sound quality but it’s fair for the money

You get what you pay for, but the rent increase for 2024 in unjustified in my opinion as plenty of maintenance issues doesn’t make it worth the price anymore
We are very sorry to hear that you had a less than ideal experience at Tramways this year. While site maintenance is our number one priority, with our onsite caretaker undertaking maintenance work where possible and 3rd party contractors booked in when the maintenance issue is more complex. The rental increase is not something at we have wanted to do as a site but due to the cost increase in gas, electric and water which are all included onsite we have had no option but to increase the rental payment. Do not come here. 4 washing machines between 200+ residents. Clothes never feel clean or dry despite the high cost. Spider and fly infestations for a majority of the months living here. Social spaces but these are disgusting and god help you if you move in when other people have lived there already as you will never feel comfortable to sit anywhere but your room. Road traffic noise is unbearable at times so you cannot do very much work in your room. Room feels like prison and is extremely cold in winter. Half the appliances don’t work very well. Extremely depressing to live here. The only positive is that it stopped me from being homeless in my final year. Witnessed a man be beaten up outside and told by reception that that was a normal Occurrence and most students get mugged at the gates of the accommodation. Walls in my building were splattered with brown stains all the way up to the second floor. You can hear everything that each of your flatmates are doing.

Great value for money ensuit and a kitchen lounge for £116 is great, location is good, like a 5 minute walk to the university and about 15 minutes to the main shops. Had a number of issue with the flat with the hob breaking and shorting power to the flat if we used the back left hob, broken extractor fans that sort of stuff, No social spaces for flats to meet up, but the kitchen lounge was nice but also get hot as hell in the summer. The internet was f****** terrible and kept going down or just generally being slow, it was bad that when some one lost connection when playing online we said they had been glode/glided. NO RECYCLING FACILITIES! Which sucks.
