Salford
27 Reviews by Students #62 out of 81 University locations

Lots of transport link, there are a few pubs and restaurants but nights out are better in Manchester city centre, there is an Aldi and Tesco nearby to do food shopping, it is a cheap place to live.

Study in Salford
Sandwiched between Manchester and Salford is the University of Salford, a hub of creativity and learning. Students are well catered for as there are about 100,000 students in the Greater Manchester area!

Just a little outside Salford, you will find House of Hops which is renowned for its wonderful owners and selection of drinks. Why not wind down from the week with your friends with a fun round of board games and some IPAs?

Head over to FAB Café in Manchester for themed night outs! They pride themselves in being a cult TV and movie-themed bar with unique decorations. Thursday nights is Robopop themed, with 80s music and electric-pop. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, go enjoy your Wednesday with a quiz!

York has a number of live music venues across the city, that have nights that cater for every musical taste. A couple of favourites spots are the Pheonix Inn for jazz, BANGARANG for ska or Irie Vibes Sound System at The Crescent for reggae, dancehall and dub. There’s also York Barbican which puts on nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

All year round there are festivals to get involved with. York Festival of Ideas features world-class speakers, theatre, music and more all across the city. There’s Aesthetica Short Film Festival which celebrates independent film. Or for something totally different, head back in time and join in the fun at JORVIK Viking Festival a city-wide celebration of York’s rich Norse heritage.
