Really good place to stay for either Newcastle or Northumbria students due to close walking distance. Close to Jesmond, the student town, and in a really convenient place in regards to distance when going on a night out.

I love my account, it has the city life aspect, but without the busy aspect, so you can get a good night sleep.
The accommodation is very close to campus making it easy to get to university.
When I moved in my room was clean but the kitchen was unacceptable me and my flatmates along with couple of our parents had to clean the kitchen ourselves. Issues in my room that should have been fixed weeks ago are still pending such as my indoor lock not working. Regardless, it’s a decent size and good facilities overall however I’m paying a lot more than a lot of people who have the same exact room which is entirely unfair.
Loved every minute so far. Staff are very friendly and helpful
My mattress was uncomfortable and smelt of urine on move in day. My bathroom had to be fully bleached as it smelt of urine, and my carpet is covered in mysterious brown stains. In the kitchen, one of the fridges doesn't work, the oven doesn't work, and we don't have a bin. There was a banging noise from the bathroom every 10 seconds and my bathroom leaks through the floor, onto the carpets. The main issue I have is with the maintenance report issues. I have been living here for 2 weeks now and still, my bathroom still leaks constantly, we only have one fridge between 6 of us, the oven took about a week for someone to fix, and I was made to be an idiot for reporting the banging noise as I was told that it'll just 'go by itself over time', when actually the it required a new flush valve (a week after reported). I have reported all issues numerous times, and get told false promises about when it'll be fixed, when actually they never reported it! I could share much more too if I had space
It was good, unfortunately some things happened what made the experience not as good
Is fantastic value for money, the rooms are pleasant with good storage under the bed, a large desk, and a wired internet connection. The bathrooms are decently sized with a nice shower. I've sometimes had to wait a while for small maintenance issues to be resolved but anything critical is sorted as soon as possible. The hallways and corridors are a little dirty sometimes with insects living near the external doors, but I've really only had that in one of the buildings. The £5.10 per wash & dry is kinda pricey but the rent price makes up for it I suppose. Otherwise, the staff on the desk are absolutely lovely and resolve any issues I've had to the best of their ability, and the parcel collection service has been extremely useful! The accomodation is also located really close to everyuthing so I've just been walking everywhere. Only about 5 mins to Northumbria and 10-15 to Newcastle. Oh! and the internet is quite fast at a steady 25 megabytes per second so definitely no complaints there.
Very good value for money and placement. Great for first year students!
Lived at portland for 2 years and was a great experience, really adding to my university experience and made a lot of great friends here!
I have been here for 2 years and it feels like home. Perfect location, lovely management people. totally recommend
It’s a nice accommodation with en-suite rooms / studios, close to both universities, right next to Ouseburn, they have a lot of great VIP discounts and giveaways for residents. The cash back scheme is very good if you book quite early. However, there have been multiple occasions where the bin store is overflowing, to the point it is no longer accessible. I also had a very bad experience with a much older flatmate who caused a lot of problems for me and the others. This was ongoing and only got a bit better when we repeatedly said something to reception about it. Sometimes the main entrance to Newton Court opens without needing to use the keycard, so anyone could get into the courtyard. However, the door to each block and then your flat & room are securely locked.
Been at Portland for 2 years and for the most it was really good all went off without any issues and staff couldn’t be more helpful however the doors into the buildings and gates regularly break which would be alright if they got fixed as regularly but they don’t. However the 24/7 security means this isn’t a massive issue and quite handy if you forget a key but still annoying seeing as it is still quite expensive
Good sized rooms and great living area, any issues always resolved quickly, very friendly and helpful staff, would 100% recommend
awful accomadation staff and cleaning staff did not help and left site a mess and was always messy and never clean flats.
Very good value for money. Would recommend
Really good place to stay for either Newcastle or Northumbria students due to close walking distance. Close to Jesmond, the student town, and in a really convenient place in regards to distance when going on a night out.
Maintenance respond quickly and students get a lot of privacy. They do giveaways and offer discounts on things. The area is nice but it is slightly further from the uni than other accommodations but the distance isn’t too bad. Main issues were the fire alarm was constantly going off, we had no hot water for a few weeks, laundry is quite expensive, bins piled up often and my room hadn’t been cleaned before I moved in and it was very dirty.
Portland green is a great accomodation for first years, the rooms are a lot nicer than most other places and they aren't expensive. The only downsides are that it gets pretty noisy during the night and also the 20 minute walk to most university buildings.
Good room & flat. Room is well sized and flows well and not once did I feel cramped or uncomfortable. Flat kitchen had all appliances( which worked) and any problem with anything maintenance was always on hand to repair/ fix anything within 24hrs. Reception was always pleasant & weren’t too strict
Great accomodation, flat came with a dishwasher too which was a lifesaver, comfy sofas and very close to good places such as Ouseburn and Jesmond, and a 20/30 min walk to Newcastle Shopping Park for a shop at Asda, B&M etc. Most issues were resolved in a good time frame and I loved staying here
Half an hour from newcastle uni which is a trek compared other accomidations, rooms are pretty small and flats weren't very clean when we moved in. Takes ages to get stuff replaced, or not at all. In our last few weeks we've had no hot water at all and no apology from staff.
Reception staff are great and keen to help. Security was not the best, as most of the year the main entrance door to my building was wide open and fob access to each block was switched off, so any random person could walk up straight to any flat door without any keys. My building did not come with a few things like a dishwasher and TV, which wouldn’t have been an issue, however the other buildings did get a TV and dishwasher were paying the same price as me. There was no recycling available and sometimes the bin room would get full and rubbish would pile outside for days which attracted rats to the premises. Circuit laundry was too expensive to depend on every week, other accommodations set their prices to half of what I have been charged per wash during my stay. The lift was out of service for more than 2 months and I had to contact my university involved to fix it. No hot water in my entire building during the last week of my stay, and took them 10 days to fix.
Nice place to live and a good location although quite far from some uni buildings, particularly the Newcastle Medical school (~25 minute walk). Rooms were nice and spacious, as well as the living and kitchen areas. Only issue was with maintenance - some requests were not addressed at all. Social spaces were great, and there are always lots of free things and giveaways in reception.
Being a student village, this accommodation offers many opportunities to meet new people. The buildings are also quite modern and the facilities available, such as the gym and study spaces, make up for the location of the accommodation as it is a bit further out of the university campus. There were a few issues with appliances e.g. I often had to report of the oven not working, but they were always resolved. All in all, I had a good experience living in Portland Green.
2nd year here, will be staying for 3rd. Really good place to live as a student!
Best student accommodation I been too. Excellent property for the pounds The wifi is amazing I can’t complain with it even better when plugged in been a great experience :)
I had a great time staying here for my first year of university, and would recommend to anyone!! There is a large array of facilities and staff are very helpful. It is a bit of a walk to Newcastle University, but you get used to it.
I like it here. It’s comfortable.
staffs are lovely, the rooms are spacious for the price, and the premise is of good surrounds of bars, shops and even a pharmacy. Just minor issues like the kitchen utilities especially the hob would take too long to heat up, heater would turn on max for only 2 hrs and sometimes maintenance of facilities like entrance doors and lifts would take longer than expected. Other than that, PGSV is of good value for money and the experience has been good so far.
I’ve loved Portland, initially I was concerned about the walk to uni / not having heard of the accommodation before. But the walk is a good start to my day & I wouldn’t change living here!
I didn’t choose to live at Portland Green but it’s worked out well for me. I’ve made great friends and i love having a free gym downstairs! Reception are friendly, there’s always freebies and prize draws. I would recommend it to a friend.
Lovely people and worth the money
The accommodation is lovely. Area and rooms are great. However, the lift in my block has been broken for 5 months with little acknowledgment. Everything else is lovely and the staff are amazing. Big fan.
This accommodation is very good and I love the location.
This accommodation is very safe and the staff are so lovely and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and great value for money. Despite it being a bit far from Newcastle uni, it’s in a lovely location in Ouseburn.
Great friendly accommodation with a lot of social events and prizes. Fully recommend❤️
the accomodation is located quite close to both universities and the room itself is good, happy to be coming back next year
Great value for money, friendly staff
I am pleased with my accomodation. I like that it is a bit further from uni as it gets more quiet at times. There are also enough shops close by. The only thing I have to criticise is the maintanance sometimes. It takes a while to fix a problem like a broken oven or a missing microwave (both from experience), other than that the staff are very lovely and always try to help out.
Really nice area with green space and close to everythin you could need as a student. Staff are always friendly and ready to help.
very nice accommodation, lovely compared to others available too. good location, close to both unis as well as other accommodations. good travel links with bus stops and metro stations. friendly and helpful staff, feels very safe.
Thriving community with a good chance to meet new people.
A great accommodation with super helpful and friendly staff. Portland Green is a safe and warm place to live with the reassurance of 24/7 security. A great location for both Northumbria University and Newcastle University and is only a short distance from the city centre so perfect for shopping and a night out. With all bills included in the price and ensuite rooms you really can't go wrong and I have rebooked for next year!
The staff are nice and friendly! Also the price for money is very good. The only thing they can take a while to sort out broken things but overall would recommend to anyone who wants an affordable but nice and social accommodation :)
it was great to have my own space
Portland green has been a great accommodation for me during my studies! It is in a good location and the rooms are spacious and have an en suite bathroom. I highly recommend.
Overall good experience; spacious flat, the tesco express at Turner Court always comes in handy, minor issues with excessive noise sometimes but nothing unmanageable.
I loved leaving here in my final year. The room was really cozy and bright, the bathroom was also spacious and the staff was always helpful. Highly recommend!
I have lived in Portland green student village for two years now and the staff and accommodation itself are wonderful.
Portland green is in a great area and is within reach of an abundance of things. It is a nice place to live and you feel safe there
The staff are very friendly and always keen to help, the flat kitchens are large enough spaces with enough room and amenities to socialise in large groups. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable decor and suitable en suits.
Portland Green is such good value for money! If this accommodation was in the city centre it would definitely be at least £20 per week more, but the walk has never been a problem- only ten minutes to the city centre. The staff are super friendly and the rooms are really spacious, especially for the price. Sometimes things don't get fixed very quickly, such as our lifts and outside doors, but I would definitely recommend Portland Green to anyone coming to uni in Newcastle.
People who work behind reception are wonderful and helpful. The location and student life is really good
Lovely community to live in, I have definitely made friends for life!
Too far outside the city but a nice place to live.
The accommodation is great value for money, great for socialising and making friends. Only downside is it is quite a distance to the university and business school 25/30 mins.
Portland Green staff are very friendly with good facilities.
The accommodation is in a great location with lovely friendly staff and a very spacious room. Would definitely recommend!!
It’s okay, left without a hob for three weeks and had poor communication which wasn’t ideal but good spot and good people.
A nice, spacious room and kitchen with access to a gym and a convenience store. I would strongly recommend this accommodation.
I am satisfied with my stay in PGSV as it has good value for money, the only thing I would suggest is that all flats have vacuums, irons and brooms/ dustpans/ mops as my flat was missing two of these things.
It is a great clean accommodation with large kitchen space and nice rooms. Only problem is it is hard to socialise as the only social space to meet people is in another building. Showers also easily block but it is easy to fix.
Really pleased with the accommodation! By far the nicest out of any other accommodations in Newcastle. Also found that even though it’s a large accommodation that the social side has been great too. Thoroughly recommend
Such lovely staff and a safe place to stay! Many social groups and lovey rooms! Such a well kept environment.
It has been great and i have met many people as it’s a great social space.
For not knowing what it was before I’ve enjoyed living here
Staff are so lovely and always willing to help out with any issues.
There are some issues with the buildings especially the older ones but the newer buildings are great to live in. The staff are lovely and I would recommend living here.
It’s nice accomodation with nice rooms and kitchens. There should be bigger bins in the kitchen and location isn’t great.
Very good facilities especially the common room and use of vending machines. Always very clean and well managed by staff.
I have been very satisfied with my time at Portland green so far. The social areas are really good for meeting new people. The rooms are really nice and the kitchens are a good size.
i enjoy my time at Portland Green, everyone is very nice and considerate.
Great value for money, really friendly staff and lots of people around. Really enjoyable experience and great accommodation. Only real problem is that the location is pretty far from the city so it is quite a long walk
left without hob for a week after being told would be fixed after a day constant appliance breakage
Very nice staff, goof value for money
Portland green is a very nice student accommodation, that’s very lively and has lots of great events going on. The rooms are very spacious and worth the money we pay. The kitchens are really nice and a great social space for me and my flat. I would definitely recommend it to other students.
Portland green is a lively student village that allows us to meet new people all the time, it’s in a very convenient location and the flat itself is spacious and designed very well in my opinion.
Portland Green has been everything I could possibly want from a student accommodation! The rooms and the kitchen area are spacious and modern, especially considering the low price in comparison to lots of other Newcastle accommodation, and the staff are always so friendly and remember all of our faces, which just adds to the community atmosphere. I was worried that the location would be quite distant from the city centre, but it's such a nice walk that I hardly even notice it, and being near arty Ouseburn and all the lovely forest parks more than makes up for the fifteen minute walk to uni. I've absolutely loved my time here so far- I've already rebooked the same room for next year!
Nice place, good value for money especially for having an en suite. Not the closest to the Uni but it’s still good. Not the most social but you’ll make your own friends anyway.
Nice accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff, not as social as i thought and not as close to Newcastle University. Overall its a good place to live though!
Great accommodation for the price, fast wifi and various amount of facilities.
September to December - the front door broken and had bin collection issues for many weeks causing there to be many rats January till present - the lift is broken and there is hole in the wall and doesn’t look very welcoming.
Very nice and spacious rooms. Nice social place. Friendly staff.
For a £128 ppw en-suite there’s nothing you can really complain about. I’ve found the study rooms in Bryson Court to be quite handy for when I want to study out of my room but not walk over to the library. The staff at the reception I’ve found are always very friendly.
I enjoy living here, the rooms and flat itself is great, the main issue is the location is a bit further out from town and parts of the university.
East to meet new people. Staff are welcoming.
A good clean space with accessibility to both unis and to the town centre. Very welcoming and a great social experience!
Great accommodation for a very reasonable price. Makes it easy to meet new people and the rooms are light and modern.
Staff are lovely and easy to talk to but could do kitchen checks and flat checks
Really outstanding in most aspects, clean, very nice area but you do have to sacrifice in the location as it is further from town and might be overpriced compared to uni catered ones but still good price if considering all the pros you're paying for.
Buildings are nice, modern, and well maintained, student Village is a bit out of the way
I am really enjoying my time at PGSV. It is good value for money and always clean. However it is a bit out of the city centre.
I am living in Turner Court in Portland Green Student Village, which is unfortunate given that all the buildings in the village have different amenities for the same price. We don't have a social space, TV, dishwasher, staffed entrance or gym, where other buildings do. Maintenance requests are fundamentally ignored, and the staff don't seem to know how to sort this.
Great place to stay with university and city-centre close by. Bedroom and en-suite is a comfortable size and is a great place to get to know other students and enjoy the university experience!
Maintenance manager Sue is super helpful and friendly and always fix’s any issue as soon as the happen All reception staff are so friendly and reliable they’re always willing to help couldn’t fault any of them
Lived here for 4 years. The rooms are more spacious than you can find at the same price. The team is super friendly and helpful. Location is close to Uni and the tesco and subway made life easier. Lots of events organised by the team or students so social life is fun, would recommend getting a place with friends. The place can get noisy sometimes especially on weekends. Place is clean and in the 4 years wifi never failed me, always super fast. Overall would highly recommend it it's a great accommodation.
Really friendly and helpful staff all around for a good price
I’ve lived here for two years and the staff are really lovely, the buildings are pretty good with decent rooms for the price you’re paying. The only problem is it’s quite far from Newcastle campus especially the medical building
I have really enjoyed my time staying here for my second year . Clean , helpful , amazing maintenance staff ! Couldn’t ask for more . Amazing deals to the point I’ve rebooked the same room for my final year . Couldn’t recommend anywhere better !
I have lived in this student accommodation since September 2021 and have rebooked for my last year at Newcastle University for 22/23. The flats are en suites and I share a kitchen with my other flatmates. When booking I was able to give my preferences and they were met, such as whether being in a flat with girls or mixed and also I specified being with 2nd year students . There are entertainments held on a monthly basis, which we are invited to and a social area where we can book for gatherings. The best day is Friday when I get to see George the Portland Green Students Village dog. The staff are great and deal with situations promptly.
I’m staying here for my second year at Sunderland University and I have already booked for next year. I’ve met so many friends. There are 5 buildings in the village with students from Newcastle/Northumbria Uni. The village has its own Tesco Express and Subway. There’s a pharmacy and GP across the road and loads of bars nearby. The staff are great and have events almost every week. Walk to town takes about 10 minutes and about 5-8 minutes to the nearest Metro or you can use an e-scooter to get there. Newton Court is the newest of the buildings and has huge kitchen and lounge.
Honestly the best accommodation I have ever lived in! I have lived at Portland green for 2 years now and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else now! George (the office dog) is a great addition to a Friday daytime and makes my day when I go by reception! If I ever have any issues the reception team take note of it and they are resolved very quickly! I am looking to do a masters next year and I am hoping that I can stay in Newcastle to stay here for another year! Great location for university and getting into the city centre and events on site are fantastic especially the bingo nights which are great fun!
Felt really safe and secure friendly staff stayed for 2 years and was really good!
I have lived at Portland Green Student Village for 7 months now and I can honestly say that I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for student accommodation in Newcastle. Within my first month of living at Portland Green I did have a few issues with my neighbours however the reception team were fantastic and completely understanding to my situation and sorted these issues for me straight away. Now I am extremely happy and have made life long friends from around the village and am now looking forward to another year at Portland Green.
In general terms everything is ok. I only have two negative things to say about the accommodation. 1. I feel it is quite expensive, in my case I finish my classes at the beginning of May and I have had to pay two more moths for nothing (980 pounds). I am so angry about this, find it very unfair. 2. When we have had issues with flat mates it is hard or even impossible to change somewhere else (having spare rooms in every building), it is something it should change. We pay a lot of money for so little solutions.
Definitely not worth the money we pay given the quality of the accommodation in comparison to other university halls which charge the same amount. Social life is good but dependent on the people you are living with rather than the accommodation itself.
For the money I'm paying in comparison to other accommodations I've seen, I'm annoyed, little justifies the cost I'm paying especially since certain promised benefits have not been included
It's a good place to live where you can meet new people from a range of backgrounds doing multiple courses. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. There are regular competitions and giveaways, e.g. Pepsi max and mugs. Only downside is the walls are pretty thin so I am able to hear my flatmates and other flats talking and singing etc, which is usually fine during the day but can be quite annoying on a night when trying to sleep.
I've stayed at Portland Green Student Village since 2018 and during this time I haven't had much problems. If there's one thing that I think is great about this place it has to be the staff. The staff here are fantastic, very friendly and welcoming they really do try thier best to make you feel accommodated. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are a young or mature student. The location is great too, it's right next to Ouseburn a short walk from the city centre and a stones through away from jesmond. Overall 8.5/10
Accommodation is nice because it has open spaces such as common areas around the building as well as a common space within our flats. I also like that the rooms allow for privacy. Reception is lovely!
Love having my own bathroom and own bedroom. I love the people at reception, always willing to help. Very nice location and accessible to the metro
I love the set up of the rooms and the social areas are a 10/10. My shower drain was clogged when I arrived, but it was quickly fixed :D
Nice location and environment. Not too crowded and the buildings are right next to a park. Cons are noise from parties and some staff are lazy.
Cozy environment with friendly employees and also brilliant social space outlined with so much activities.
Great safe and friendly environment to learn socialise and grow. Brilliant facilities and lovely staff that are always there to help. Quality wifi and Close to university so that’s always a bonus!
Very good location with many other student accommodations nearby. Any maintenance issues resolved quickly. Very social.
WiFi is the biggest issue I’ve had since being here. However the value for money that you get for the rooms and amenities makes it more than worth it. The smoking areas and courtyards make it very easy to be social and get to know other people in the building.
Portland Green offers the best short stay in Newcastle. Very good location from everything. Very friendly and very welcoming staff. They're always smiling and greeting you in the reception. Sorts out problems asap
Very good, staff very accommodating and helpful. Fantasstic security and resolves issues with maximum efficiency highly recommended
Really good accommodation, staff are lovely and supportive. Would definitely recommend.
Bryson is overall a good accommodation,
Amazing location with universities only a 10/15 minute walk away! Staff are always friendly and helpful, couldn’t of picked a better place to move to for my first year of uni
Much better experience so far than my previous accommodation. Much more welcoming and easier to get issues reported. Staff helpful and efficient, facilities are also very good
Very kind and accommodating staff
Even though at fist, I was quite sceptical about living at Turner Court in Portland Green, I have grown to love living there. I love living here so much that I am going to live in Portland Green at Newton Court next academic year! There wasn't much social-wise due to COVID-19 but Turner Court has still been a very social place for me. I've met loads of new people.
Portland green student villeage is great
I’ve been at Portland green for 3 years and have loved every minute. They went above and beyond for me in my third year to cater to my needs and requirements!
The building is lovely and the staff are even better
The staff are fantastic and very friendly
Lovely accom friendly staff good vibe
I loved living in Portland Green. The atmosphere was great, the staff were really helpful and the facilities were really good.
Great location close to city centre and unis. Staff are very friendly
i have loved ever my second here and would thoroughly recommend coming here
Overall my experience has been excellent here, the only downfall has been that it's about 20 minutes from town but there's some lovely parks nearby to compensate.
Lived here for 3 years, love the place and staffs are fantastic. Any issues you email them or drop in asking for help, they get dealt asap.
Staff are real friendly and everything works how you want it to
Lovely accommodation!! Really clean, great social spaces and close location to university, Ouseburn and town!
Amazing accommodation for the value
Thanks to joe for helping us fixing the bed the absolute legend
Reception and maintenance & housekeeping are always helpful. Thank you to David for helping and going above and beyond to find me a freezer drawer.
Such a great place to live. The staff are always so helpful and super friendly ( especially Elaine) . Great service and top notch security.
Maintenance team (Dave & Barry) always very helpful and friendly. Will help sort any inquiries out and have a good laugh.
I love living at Portland green, the staff are always so helpful In particular (Emily and Dave). With everything going on they have made it so easy to feel happier and at home. Everyone should live here if the could!
Maintenance guys are straight up, sorted things and are sound guys
Just had a very helpful experience with two of the maintenance team (Dave and Barry) who responded immediately to the issue and were very friendly and efficient whilst providing help as quickly as possible. Thankyou !
Maintenance men came a fixed our door within 30 minutes of the maintenance request. Great service and very friendly.
The maintenance team are so lovely and came very quickly to help sort out our problems. Such nice people, great to have a conversation with
The maintenance and the cleaning team are so helpful and efficient. They go the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect and fixed
Can’t thank the maintenance and cleaning team enough. They were so accommodating quick and helpful. Really friendly too!!
Tracy, Emily and Mandy are all super nice and helpful, couldn’t have picked a better place to stay
Loved staying in Newton Court the rooms are such a good size and has all the facilities you need. The location is perfect too.
Lovely staff and good value for money, love the rooms
Portland green is a very nice student village. All the staff are wonderful and they manage many functions for freshers so they can meet new people!
Great staff and great place to live
Staff are very helpful and kind , I really like this accomodation with loads of shops nearby.
very good accom, nice and helpful for all
Very good WiFi that is very fast, staff are always friendly and helpful, social spaces are clean and within walking distance of many pubs
nice and clean place to stay. have enjoyed it so far with the events they have put on despite the pandemic conditions. would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation for 2021.
Portland Green is a very clean and fun accommodation with friendly staff and students. It has good facilities and provided me with amazing flatmates.
Amazing, so friendly, kind, helpful, lovely
staff are so friendly makes the experience better and especially through this time
Really friendly staff and efficient reception, helpful during isolation as well
Can’t fault it, the staff are lovely, it’s in a great location and the Tesco near by is really handy, will be rebooking for next year 100%
I have absolutely loved staying here so far l, even through these sorry times. Thanks portland green!
Very happy with with my accommodation it’s the best in Newcastle
Had big problem and was sorted very quickly
Amazing rooms and easy to get to the uni.
Very kind staff, are very fair people and very accommodating to new students who live alone for the first time. Big up to Rich
it’s a great experience and i’m loving it here
Very nice student rooms all with en suite bathrooms and nice kitchens
Lovely staff, very caring and supportive. Always for cuppa and a laugh
Very nice, clean but flatmates are annoying
Great found one best person here
This is the best student accommodation you’ll find in Newcastle. Excellent facilities and good WiFi make it a perfect student experience.
Having a great time here, I’ve made loads of friends and have enjoyed the experience since the first day of moving :)
Portland has been great to live in as a First year, I have loved every minute of it even with the coronavirus, I have been able to enjoy a great social life and also follow regulations, with incredibly friendly staff and security.
Very nice safe clean friendly staff good location love it
I have lived here for the past two years and I feel as though it is a great accomodation for freshers. Very safe, very clean and friendly staff.
Good value for money with the cashback offer, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Overall very good experience!
The accommodation is really nice and modern with a good flat layout. The rooms were fairly clean when I moved in. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The location is really good and close to both unis. The social experience has been difficult due to the current situations however meeting new flatmates was great. The WiFi is really fast and you can have up to 5 devices on it.
great place to live, people on the reception are lovely and great location.
Nice staff good experience all round
Staff are absolutely sound and really nice
Great staff and maintained round the the building. Good environment to live in.
Love portland and the rooms are mint, overall good experience
Amazing place. Rooms spacious and great value for money.
Mint the best places for students
A lot of help when we had Covid, went to get our shopping! Brilliant staff
When in isolation reception went to get our shopping, very helpful when we needed them.
Can’t say a bad word about the staff, been brilliant about the whole situation and look after all the students to the best of their ability.
Really good place to live, love my flat even tho it did need a through clean when I moved in because of the dust. Location is perfect as it’s 10 mins from uni
Very quick walk to town centre and uni, great staff, great people.
Newcastle is a long way from London and I expected it would take a decent amount of time to get used to being so far away from home. While I can't lie and say I'm completely used to it yet, settling in and living at the Portland Green Student Village has been a great experience. The staff are friendly and reply quickly to enquiries, whether you email or ask them in person, there are constantly events going on despite the current situation in England; it is clear that the staff and organisers are making sure that we're having the best experience that we can even with everything going on right now. While I will certainly miss being home in London, I am also looking forward to spending the rest of the year here in my first year of higher education.
nicely sized rooms and good sized kitchen. friendly staff and residents
Staff are great and friendly. Rooms and living spaces are modern as well.
Absolutely great. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Maintenance is great and very quick. Very close to both unis and super close to shops/bars.
Really nice flat, and the staff have tried to put on online events to make coronavirus a bit less anti social
I am very happy with the facilities available to us at Portland green, I feel as though it is a homely environment and I am very excited for the rest of the year !
Reception staff are so lovely and friendly
Lovely staff and good location
Lovely staff and very clean onsite
Friendly staff. Regularly cleaned and maintenance requests are completed quickly. Great location, solid value for money.
Very pleased with the accomdation however some other accommodations at the same price have facilities such as a Tv and iron etc.
I don’t think you’ll find much better for your money in newcastle, especially with the cashback. Big desk and bed, decent floor space, even got a dishwasher in the kitchen!! All basic necessities covered like Hoover, kettle, microwave, toaster. The staff are really friendly as well, I was feeling upset one day with isolation and Elaine just made me feel so much better. Obviously with lockdown it’s hard to judge the social spaces and social experience, but I’m enjoying myself so far. It is 10 mins walk from Northumbria uni and just under 20 to city centre. No complaints, they’re trying their best in a hard time obviously things can’t be perfect considering the circumstance
Staff were excellent in helping get our flat groceries and parcels whilst we were isolating. I felt safe and reassured that I was not alone and if I needed further help it was easy accessible.
The staff at Portland Green was always on hand to help with our deliveries whilst we was in isolation.
I have enjoyed my time at Portland Green Student Green Village so far as the bedroom, kitchen and facilities are at a high quality and allowed me to settle in quickly.
Rooms and kitchens are very modern, and the site team are very helpful
Very modern and comfortable accommodation, in a perfect location with a tesco on the corner and a park right behind the block. I had to isolate due to covid 19 and the staff were so helpful and supportive, post was delivered to our doors along with our bins been taken out when requested. Although we cannot socialise outside our flat we have been provided with other opportunities to meet new people virtually such as a zoom quiz. I would recommend anyone to book here.
Despite covid, I’ve still had a great time so far at Portland Green! The staff are helpful and welcoming and are always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. I’ve found the maintenance guys will always do as much as they can to help no matter what the issue is. I would recommend PGSv.
The staff are all so friendly and helpful. It’s so tough at the minute but they all work so hard, day and night. The evening cleaning staff are so lovely and will happily bump elbows.
Whilst in isolation the staff couldn’t help us enough, taking out our bins and dropping off our parcels. Thanks to them we’ve made it through lockdown!
Rooms are tiny, judging by how uncomfortable they are mattrasses could be well over 10 years in use. Had unsufficient hot water supply for months and didnt get fixed until the second term. Bike thefts every week without security being able to do something about it. Garbage everywhere as apparently no proper cleaning services. Laundery rooms were outsourced to Circuit and werent functioning for weeks without anyone on site doing anything about it, despite the fact that 4,50 per washing is incredibly expensive compared to other accommodations. Also laundry rooms exist only in two out of 5 builidings so had to drag all of it into a different building. A single common room with one pool & ping pong table for over a thousand students in five different buildings is simply ridiculous. Access logs for buildings flat and room doors was down for two weeks seemingly without anyone being able to fix it. Had to call reception every time I wanted to get out of my flat or get back into it.
rubbish money grabbing company
This place is amazing. The Staff, facilities plus its not far from Uni.
Great place to live. Home from home with great staff and great facilities.
Very bad customer service, especially in a crisis such as the Covid-19 outbreak. Would not recommend; do not book/rebook with them, only after £££
The experience has been fantastic overall. The staffs are very efficient and friendly. Management is smooth and there's plenty of amazing events going on around the year. The only down side are the rooms. The can feel a little congested at times. Alao there are no reading lamps anywhere in the room, be that at the study table or over the bed.
Good general experience, but some delays with promised cash back led to many students not having the money to carry on buying food without getting into further debt. Social events and free food are good. Room and en suite in good condition along with kitchen and social spaces
Booking late in Rosedale Court is not something you want to do. I know people who have a TV and bigger fridge in bryson Court and paid less than me. Safety is probably best feature though and gym is alright. One issue I have is fridge size however freezer is more than suitable.
I love Portland green as its welcoming, social and there’s always events and stuff going on for students
I have been living in Portland, Rosedale Court. It has been an amazing experience so far. I’ll rebook it for the following year, for sure
Good place near Northumbria University. Nice studio, however did not have the best experience moving in as it was dirty, but has since then been handled by the staff very well.
Its overall good. The studio is really spacious. The only thing - I wish the fridge was bigger in the studios
Great atmosphere perfect staffs and very good security
I’ve really enjoyed my stay. Whenever there has been any problems reception have fixed it straight away.
Really friendly staff, decent social space, good location in terms of nearest shops and university and has security 24/7
"This is my second year at Portland Greene student Villiage, the staff are there for any enquiry, and my experience wouldn't be the same without them. Portland is a second home, and my university experience has been the best because of it!"
The WiFi isn’t great, always cuts out on me. Only a 5 min walk into the Northumbria uni & staff are lovely
The staff and maintenance team areee amaziinggggf
I’ve been here for two years and I have never been in a more perfect place for uni
Excellent experience. Staff are amazing and really helpful. Great social events all around.
Great accomodation at a great location with great support and socials.
Very welcoming staff, amazing flat and kitchen Betty good value for money
It’s pretty good, would recommend
the staff are so friendly, i really like all of them. everything is good quality
The halls are very good value for money
Good place to live really social, lovely staff, hold lots of events for students
Great moving in experience, value for money and friendly staff!
Loved Portland green, definitely recommend
Good size room/ en suite and the kitchen space is good I wouldn’t mind having a lock on the toilet door and being able to keep the radiator on for longer because the rooms are quite cold
Really disappointed. Gym is not working. There was no warm water for a few days. Delays in cashback. Parcels just for 4 hours, when there are loong queues. The washing machines usually not working and full. Expensive as well.
Good place to live. Staff sometimes not on the same page. Halls and lifts could do with more regular cleaning. There has been cobwebs above entrance way doors in Newton Block C since we moved in.
Nice and friendly staff but the cleaning of hall ways could do better.
Really happy with my first year experience.
So far i have really enjoyed my stay at Portland green, it’s very modern and homely.
There are so many entertaining events organised by the super-helpful staff, I can't imagine living anywhere else.
WiFi connection needs to be improved as the connection gets poor over the time.
There are so many events organised by the super-helpful staff, I can't imagine living anywhere else.
Portland green is a good student location and has good value for money!
I really like living at Portland Green. The staff here is very polite and life's just awesome!
Staff make me so comfortable and it’s in a great location too!
The maintenance people are really nice people and are always in a good mood. The people on the desk are always smiling and helpful. Also, the 24-hour desk is quite helpful for nights out or studying late. The couple days of the broken card reader was the only problem I have had with the accommodation, everything else has been great esspically for the price with tge cash back
Pretty average accommodation although expensive for what you're getting. Especially compared to the other university accommodations. Maintenance is pretty good. Lovely guys who are happy and willing to help. There have been multiple issues with keycards not working to the point where everyone has realised that you can just force the doors open if you lush hard enough. We also didn't have hot water for a week and were not compensated for it in any way.
Love it at Portland green. I’ve stayed at Rosedale Court for the last two years and it’s so cheap!! The rooms are a nice size, loads of storage and the kitchens are a good size too. The best part about Portland green are the staff, they truly cannot do enough for you. They really make it feel like a home away from home and the amount of social events that they have including quizzes, exercise classes etc really make a difference when you’re new and even to me my second year in. Overall, I couldn’t suggest it enough, so close to uni!
I have enjoyed the warm welcome to my accommodation with very helpful and friendly staff available to help you 24/7 , always clean and hygienic with lots of social spaces. Although it personally hasn’t been the best social experience for me the accommodation and staff itself has been amazing.
The staff are so helpful and friendly, the flats themselves are spacious and have great social kitchen/living areas. The halls themselves are in a great location with everything within walking distance
