Where is the University of Greenwich Located?
The University of Greenwich is set over three campuses, two in London and one in the historic Medway region of north Kent.
Greenwich Campus has a premium position in the heart of Greenwich, London, with fast transport links to central London.
Situated on the banks of the River Thames, the main campus at the University of Greenwich is located in the Old Royal Naval College – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Featuring three baroque buildings that were designed by the celebrated architect Sir Christopher Wren in the late 17th century, the campus is often cited as one of the greenest and most beautiful in the UK.
Greenwich is packed with pubs, bars, restaurants, and live music venues. Just outside the campus gates you'll find Greenwich Market and the 74-hectare Greenwich Park with its spectacular views of central London, and world-famous Royal Observatory, home of the Greenwich Meridian.
Avery Hill Campus is located in 86-acre grounds in nearby Eltham. It is a lively, modern campus with excellent social and academic amenities, including computer clusters, laboratories, lecture theatres and libraries. Trains to central London take just 30 minutes.
Medway Campus is home to the Faculty of Engineering and Science as well as programmes from the Faculty of Education and Health. Situated in Chatham, Kent, students at Medway live, work and socialise on campus. The site has immediate access to excellent amenities and students can get to London by train in just 45 minutes.
Take a virtual tour through all three campuses.
Facilities
The Dreadnought Building is a central hub for the Greenwich Campus and hosts academic, teaching and computing spaces alongside a gymnasium and concert venue.
The neighbouring Stephen Lawrence Gallery showcases the work of contemporary artists.
The £76-million Stockwell Street Building opened in 2014 and is now home to the Greenwich Campus library, film and TV studios, and state-of-the-art editing suites.
The Student Village at the Avery Hill Campus accommodates around 1,200 students during term time, which gives it a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. On-site facilities include a café, canteen, shop, launderette, bicycle parking, and a fully-equipped gym. That's not forgetting the 86-acre Avery Hill Park, with its outdoor gym, outdoor tennis tables and marked footpaths which are part of the Green Chain Walk.
Medway Campus has its own local identity, which is shaped by a community of 10,000 students from all over the world. The £4 million Student Hub is a social space which has been designed to enhance the student experience. The campus is a short walk from the Historic Dockyard and the Dockside Shopping Outlet with its multi-screen cinema, restaurants and bars. You can also find sports facilities at Medway Park, including a swimming pool and an Olympic-standard running track.

I love my uni it's awesome and it gave me best experience of my life I was feeling like I was studying in an old rayal naval college the name says it al
Great university perfect location
Clubs are lacking with variety and the student union needs more activities and events
Very good, people are very kind!
it’s just perfect as an international student.
Been good made good friends really nice staff and facilities
Good uni I really like the campus and my teachers
Love the university amazing staff great view and good courses quality
great campus, it overlooks canary wharf. with amazing staff looking out of you need help.
My university experience has been great so far. The professors are kind and friendly, the student union helps at every step, the societies arrange great events and functions which are very well organised
A good experience overall. With good and helpful service and people.
Nice place to stay. But the common room should open till 1 o clock
All is good and the processes are pretty smooth
Wishhhhh there was better Wi-Fi and bigger rooms. The teachers and staff are very helpful tho
I am located on the Medway campus, which feels relatively isolated from the other two. We have to pay to take the university bus to the others, but they can go between themselves for free, which is incredibly unfair. Most career events and societies are located on the main campus, the facilities are nicer, and overall seems like a much better experience than what we receive at Medway.
A beautiful and historical campus with students being able recieve free entry to the painted hall which is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding area is also lovely and is easy to get to via the DLR. The support from staff is incredible and they are passionate about inclusion. My course has been great with very enthusiastic, encouraging and support teaching teams who make the lectures engaging and accessible. They are happy to help with academic queries and most staff have a genuine concern for students' wellbeing and some have gone above and beyond in terms of making sure support is put in place.
Its satisfactory if you can use to the fullest
Amazing place for students, I'll highly recommend other’s to choose this university
Hi! Thanks for the positive feedback. -N
The campus is marvellous and a historical bliss! The course structure and teachings are clearly communicated and lectures are very supportive to students. There are good events representing the student body every week and career service available to book appointments and reach out for help.
Hi! Thanks for the positive feedback. -N
I think, they receive anyone with money. More than half of the students in my class don't want to be there, don't want to study and using Chat GpT for everything. That's very disappointing.
Hi! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We completely understand your frustration—it can be discouraging to witness a lack of engagement among classmates. We're committed to finding ways to boost motivation and foster a stronger sense of community in our classes. Your insights are truly appreciated! -N
The campus is the best and has good facilities too, They've got plenty of clubs but not quite helpful. I'm in year 2 and I don't know what clubs are available and how you can benefit from them. They need to work on spreading the word about their work and acknowledge everyone. I didn't find the GSU officer helpful at all. The university helps with mental health support. The internet is bad I couldn't use the wifi for the whole day. But overall it is a good university especially the staff and management.
Thank you so much for you review! We have around 100 societies, but we are always interested in students starting more! There is more information on societies here, if that is of interest: https://www.greenwichsu.co.uk/societies/. N
Good but timetable can be better
Hi! thanks for your feedback. We aim to continually improve our timetabling to make it more convenient for students. -N
The main campus is great and the Stockwell Street library is quite good, but very few seats compared to the amount of student at the uni. Unfortunately, quite a few of my lectures have noisy people and it does not seem like the professors can control it. The facilities and student unions are great and there are loads of societies to chose from.
This is a really useful review, thanks. The University provides study space in many of its buildings including the Stockwell Street library in Greenwich, Avery Hill Library in Eltham, and the Drill Hall Library at our Medway Campus. We are also trying to reach Net Zero by 2030 and therefore are repurposing old spaces with modern refurbishments to move towards a more sustainable University. -N

Hi, thanks for your review. Your time at Greenwich is very important to us !
Living here during my master’s program was transformative. As an international student, moving to a new country was daunting, but this accommodation changed everything. Surrounded by a vibrant, diverse community, I built friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The serene, natural atmosphere and high standard of living allowed me to focus on my goals with clarity. This supportive environment not only fueled my academic journey but also brought the mental peace I needed to succeed. Today, I feel immense gratitude and nostalgia looking back. Those experiences helped shape my path to a fulfilling career as a researcher at the University of Greenwich—a cherished chapter in my life.

Really a good college, for a international student like me it is very welcoming and makes me feel like home.
Hi there! Thanks for your positive feedback. -N
The university environment overall is really good. The great campus and facilities could be a little better in terms of societies and clubs but I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Hi there! Thanks for your positive feedback. -N
very nice facilities and made to feel very welcome
Hi! Thanks for the positive feedback. N
Great opportunities and support available for all students! The environment is very relaxing next to the river Thames.
Hey! Thank you for your review. We're delighted to be able to offer a student experience at the Greenwich maritime campus. An area of vibrant history, from old kings and queens, to modern film and television!. Some of the buildings on our site are around 300 years old, but we're always investing in new facilities to enhance student experience! N.
A good university with great facilities
Hello! Thanks for the positive feedback. N
Huge and beautiful campus! Many societies to join and many areas to study in. The wifi can be unreliable depending on where you are and some lecture halls do not have charging ports. The students here are really engaging and lovely!

Hello! We are very happy to hear this. Your time at Greenwich mean so much to us. N
My time as a Master’s student in Applied Linguistics at the University of Greenwich has been nothing short of amazing. From day one, I felt welcomed into a community that not only values academic excellence but also encourages personal growth and real-world application. The lecturers have been fantastic—always approachable and willing to offer guidance. Their expertise spans across so many areas, whether it’s sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, or language teaching, which has given me a well-rounded view of the field. What I’ve really appreciated is how practical the course is. It’s not just about studying theory but also about applying it. I’ve had the chance to work on real-life language assessments, analyze how people use language in multicultural settings, and even look at how language policies impact education. This blend of theory and practice has given me skills that I know will be invaluable in my career.
Hello! Thanks for the positive feedback, your time at Greenwich mean so much to us. N
The University of Greenwich's accommodation is highly rated for its convenient locations near campus and public transport, modern and well-maintained facilities, and a supportive community atmosphere. Students appreciate the en-suite rooms, communal areas, and 24/7 security, which enhance safety and comfort. The halls foster a social environment, helping newcomers make friends easily, while also being affordable compared to private rentals in London. Additionally, the accommodation team is praised for being helpful and responsive, ensuring a smooth living experience. Overall, it provides a balanced mix of quality, convenience, and value for money.
Hello! We are very happy to hear this. Your time at Greenwich mean so much to us. N
I am enjoying my time at uni and have made some amazing friends. I have amazing tutors who are always there to help and give helpful feedback. Room availability and booking for lectures/seminars could be better.

It has been amazing, amazing lectures who gives their time to make sure their students understand well. And amazing groups such as the employability centers that make sure the students are in the right route.
Hi! Thanks for the positive feedback. N
Really easy and accessible, free campus bus running frequently throughout all 3 campuses, lecturers and staff friendly, prices for cafe aren’t too expensive, and the main campus is famous for films
Hello! We are very happy to hear this. Your time at Greenwich mean so much to us. N
Issues from the start, was misled, I was a year two transfer and they assured me funding would still be okay and the course was correct. It was not and now I'm out of a degree entirely and still have to pay the debt.
Management is very helpful. Clubs are good
Hello there. Thanks for your review. -N

Hello there. We are very happy to hear this. Your time at Greenwich mean so much to us. -N
The University of Greenwich has a UNESCO World Heritage site as a campus building near London's best Greenwich Park the location is perfect for a university in the most busy city of London. The university has excellent team members and the facilities are mind-blowing. All the team members communicated excellently. Lecturers are excellent only some of them are very low in student engagement. Best university in my view.
Hey. We're sorry to hear that and will try our best to improve the engagement for students. -N
As an international student, the University of Greenwich offers a beautiful, historic campus with diverse academic programs and strong support services. Its location near central London provides excellent cultural and career opportunities, though administrative processes could improve. Overall, it’s a well-rounded experience with great academic and social exposure.
Great feedback. We are glad you had a good experience overall. Our admin team is constantly working on improving our services. Thank you for letting us know. -N
Not the best university choice but they do provide lots of support with your career.

Everything is very very good for this price point it's very hard to get such a good facility from the university.
Hi there! Thanks for your positive feedback. -N
The University of Greenwich is a good university to study at. There are three campuses: two in London and one in Kent. The teaching is overall mind-stimulating and makes me want to learn more about the subject. However, I sometimes find it hard to find a spot to study.

It's okay but the scenery is beautiful
Hello! Thank you for the review! T
Some very good facilities, some questionable staff
Hi. Thank you for your review. We are glad our facilities have met your expectations. Greenwich invests heavily in new buildings and spaces for students. H
They provide the bare minimum with the exception of a few lecturers who are actually dedicated to their subjects. The international support is absolutely appalling with no office to go to and one email that takes about a month to receive feedback for. I have had very important questions about visas and employment eligibility and these took about a month and multiple emails and visits to the school to get resolved. The social scene has tanked since Covid so I would not go here if you want to get involved with social activities. If I could go back I would have probably chosen a different school.
Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve any areas we have fallen short in. We are sorry to hear about your experience. We wish to ensure Greenwich is a place for everyone and when your experience is not of the highest quality, we would like to know more to improve. Our Greenwich Student's Union can support with this. My stay at Creen Rd was very positive, it has an excellent location (shops, transportation and leisure very close), the facilities are very clean and safe, and the treatment from the administration was excellent. Without a doubt, I recommend this place to reside while you are completing your studies.

The facilities available are varied and easily accessible. They do not promote their clubs or SU events enough so I often miss them, but I have heard good things from friends who are already involved in those activities.
Many thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback as we will take this into consideration to improve our promotions. Regards, TH
