Myrtle Court Biography
Myrtle Court is located in a popular student area in Liverpool with plenty of shops, restaurants and nightlife spots close by. It is situated just around the corner from the University of Liverpool and a sixteen-minute walk from Liverpool John Moores University.
There’s plenty to do outside of your room at Myrtle Court. You can hang out with friends in the communal lounge as well as getting involved with the exciting social events which are hosted throughout the year. You’ll also have access to convenient secure bike storage and onsite laundry facilities, making student life that little bit easier.
Myrtle Court has a number of different rooms to choose from, so you’ll definitely be able to find one that meets your needs. You can either opt for an en-suite room in a shared flat of up to seven people or go for a private, self-contained studio. Shared flats have a comfortable communal living space and kitchen, and it’s easy to book with friends as a group. Whichever room you go for, they are all fully furnished, with a bed, study desk and ample storage.

Staff are really friendly and Ariane is always down for a fun time! They really seem to enjoy their job. My issues with the bathroom extractor fan and wonky table in kitchen, etc. were fixed so rapidly, I wonder why I had to notice these faults first. Perhaps check rooms again before students move in? WiFi isn't great for video calls but fine to surf the web. My room had evidently been used before, and one of the wardrobe doors is still a bit broken. All in all, the property could do with touching up, but the people make it a really friendly place to live. Loved the hot chocolate you gave out for Halloween! Please increase your events budget. So: not quite as nice as UoL managed accommodation, but pretty good nonetheless, especially for the price.

myrtle has been great so far! good value for money, welcoming and stylish :) However, i would love if all residents could open the gate with their key fob because people in block 4 especially have to walk all the way round the building when it’s cold to pick up takeaways or be dropped off by ubers by the gate. other than that it’s been amazing. Aaron, one of the night staff, is one of the reasons i love myrtle so much. he makes me feel so welcome after a night in and gave me a snickers bar and comfort after a bad experience on a night out and chatted to me for as long as i needed and is always a good laugh.

Perfectly located and very very very friendly staff. Especially the night owls Aaron and Magic! They make me feel right at home even though I’m halfway around the world from home.

Had a few issues at the start of the year and were difficult to resolve until taken higher up. But spacious rooms and close to UoL. Staff are usually pleasant, especially the night employee Aaron. Always makes sure I am safe when I come in, pleasant and friendly to talk to. Will be missed by all of Flat 6!!

Definitely value for money. 24hrs reception service. Also some staff members are extremely nice and always ready to help and even just have conversations with you and ask you about your day. Shout out to, Aaron! Great events organized frequently as well.

Really good place to live. The only con is my bed being slighlty off the wall so my phone and other things have fallen between the wall and the bed and it was hard getting it back. Also a bit noise and messy in the kitchen. Things were fixed quickly and staff are really lovely especially my man Arron

The staff at Myrtle Court are so friendly and personable — Aaron, the security guard, is really sweet and easy to talk to. I consider them my friends here! It’s gonna be sad when the tenancy is over. They feel more like friends than staff. Ariane is really kind and always gives me compliments when I come backk in, Imogen is always friendly and smiles and Jade is very helpful with any concerns or queries. The maintenance team is also good at fixing things promptly. My chair was broken and the maintenance team replaced it quickly.

A good choice for first year students, less than 10 minutes walking to university of Liverpool and around a 20 minute walk to town. The staff are very friendly and helpful, namely Ariane and Xavier were of huge help!

Ariane is really nice, always good wifi and rooms are extremely well sized. Would highly recommend for first years as an alternative to official university accommodation. Myrtle is a lot less strict on stuff :)

Nice place for first years, staff are all nice (especially Aaron) and the accomodation is very good for the price. The social experience is lesser than that of the main university accoms but its really what you make of it. Would recommend.

Myrtle Court is a wonderful accommodation, with very friendly staff. The night staff especially are super supportive when you need someone to talk to when walking back from a night out. Amazing venue, amazing staff, great to talk to, absolutely fantastic friendly environment for any type of circumstances for students. Sufficient standards for living when comparing to the price offered. Spacious exterior layout with a amazing safety measures which can't be taken for granted especially with a gated community atmosphere. The maintenance element is outstanding with an excellent performance and authentic experience when dealing with issues.

Myrtle court is a great first-year accommodation. It is far less expensive than the actual university accommodation for the same experience. It is in a good location as it isn't too far from both the University and City centre. The staff are very friendly and they would run events during the year as well as give out freebies. The few times I had maintenance issues they were sorted within a few days. The rooms are decent sizes, all with at least 3/4 beds. The only negative is the bathrooms are a bit small, but having an en-suite is better than sharing so shouldn't really complain. There is loads of storage and desk space. Despite it not being as big or accommodating as many people as other halls it is still just as sociable. Would recommend Myrtle to anyone who was thinking of going to the University of Liverpool :)

I stayed in Myrtle court for my first year at UoL and met some wonderful friends who I now live with in second year. The rooms are big, spacious and good value for money with an ensuite. The kitchen is a good size and has enough room for everyone to socialise in. I really enjoyed my year at Myrtle, the staff were absolutely lovely (thanks to Chris for letting me in every time I forgot my keys, Jacqi and Gavin for sorting out any problems we ever had ASAP and the night staff who always had a good laugh with us when we'd stumble in at all hours!!!) Couldn't recommend Myrtle court enough and was really sad to be leaving. <3

This place is literally a dump. It is crawling with rats and is infested with silverfish. Staff often rude and unhelpful, the only thing they care about is getting a rebooking for next year. -Booked for 2019/20, their main selling point being the free car parking. A couple of weeks after living here, they sent out an email stating they was beginning to charge a scandalous rate for parking, going against their contract and literally it would've been false advertisement. After many complaints, they revoked this and decided to start charging from next year. -When booked, we was told we would have a communal cleaner, on arrival this was not the case. -The walls are paper thin and night time can be quite noisy. -Close to university but quite a walk into town. -Small issues such as 24/7 security/reception cover yet Royal Mail parcels being refused on a Saturday for no apparent reason. -Old fashioned, dated rooms. -Holes in wall -Room smelt on arrival. -Stains on walls
Covid-19: They haven't been helpful. I was unable to self-isolate here as on NHS shielding list, needed to see healthcare workers and have prescriptions delivered. This wouldn't of been possible here due to the several communal areas you must pass through to get outside. It would've increased my risk. After lots of pushing on social media, they finally dropped the full rent charge and decided to charge April's rent only. This was a varying amount of £400-£600 for students, despite most people had moved out and other companies charging no fees at all. I was ignored for 3 weeks, they only then contacted me on the day the payment was due with a rude email. This company only cares about money, so beware of booking with them. If the pandemic continues into another academic year, you might end up being charged for a room you can't enter.

We aim to respond to residents’ concerns about maintenance and pest issues as soon as possible, and would always encourage people to report these. We retained our free carparking at site for our students for the full year and would like to apologise for any initial confusion on this matter. Like many providers we no longer have a housekeeping service to clean individual flats, but our friendly and helpful housekeeping team are on hand 24/7 to ensure all communal areas across the site are clean, tidy and safe for our residents. Our reception is manned 24/7 to allow our students a full service all year round, enabling them to collect and receive parcels, report maintenance issues and access social events at any time of the week or year. As a business we made the decision in March to allow our residents to apply for an early release from their contract to assist them as much as we can in these difficult and unprecedented times. I can assure you that we have also listened to our residents about bookings for the next academic year. Using their feedback we have created our booking promise for 2020/21, to ensure we continue to assist and support our customers wherever possible in booking accommodation for next year amid the current uncertainty around coronavirus. This includes a promise that if university start dates are delayed, we will put back the start of residents’ tenancies at no additional cost. We will also be able to cancel bookings on residents’ request if they don’t get a visa or cannot travel to the UK. I am happy to discuss any of your queries directly. - There isn’t a cleaner for flats even though it was advertised on the website when booking - Maintenance are very slow to respond to issues - wifi is unreliable - Issues of rats and silverfish reported by multiple students left ignored - Only plus is the location is very close to uni, social space is quite nice but lack of events in freshers to get people using them
Like many providers we no longer have a housekeeping service to clean individual flats, but our friendly and helpful housekeeping team are on hand 24/7 to ensure all communal areas across the site are clean, tidy and safe for our residents. Our reception is manned 24/7 to allow our students a full service all year round, enabling them to collect and receive parcels, report maintenance issues and access social events at any time of the week or year. I can assure you that all reports of pests are taken very seriously and followed up to appropriate contractors when required. We love offering events to students when we can; unfourtunatley our events calendar was slowed this year due to the COVID outbreak, but we will be back with pizza parties and themed events as soon as we can :)
a lot of problems since I first arrived, would not recommend, freezer in kitchen broke and it took 3/4 days & one unfrozen bowl of water for the staff to believe that it was broken, & then a further 2 weeks to replace and in this time we had to use the staff freezer in the reception, security is not very responsive, during a rowdy party happening in my flat it took security 30 minutes to get near the building after being called (and he didn't even come inside, he just spoke to someone at the door), and in this time glass was smashed over the floor, the wall was punched in, and flatmates were made to feel unsafe, also on a few occasions where we've been receiving grocery deliveries they have taken a while or have been absent from the reception area, I gave the social spaces 3/5 as although they're great spaces with plenty of room to sit about, reception staff turn the lights off and close off these areas quite early so you are unable to sit and work in these or feel unwelcome to do so

The accommodation is near to school, location is good. But the kitchen can not be cleaned every week. In a word, the accommodation is valuable. Good!

Very good accommodation, staff are lovely and very helpful. Facilities are wonderful and it is right beside the uni which is very helpful. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Would not recommend to anyone there have been non stop problems since I have lived here! The rooms & kitchen did not contain the furniture as advertised and the hallway was flooded on arrival. In addition we had no hot water for the first 4 weeks of staying here & they took 2 weeks to install curtains in the kitchen despite being on the ground floor. Also the fridge freezer malfunctioned & took a week to replace. I have missed over 10 lectures as a result of maintenance issues within the first 6 weeks. The reception staff are unhelpful & have a habit of making snarky comments when trying to sort out issues. Finally the front door has failed 3 times either leaving the flat not secured or as of last week we were trapped inside due to a power cut caused by an emergency lighting test which is a massive hazard if there was a fire. In all the cooking apparatus is electric so we were unable to make any food for hours! In summary this accommodation is uncomfortable, unsafe & unpleasant.
I am very sorry to hear about your experience with us. Our aim is where possible (and where in our control) to rectify any issues as quickly as we can. If we are unable to provide a quick fix we aim to provide an alternative solution until we are able to rectify the issue fully, however, this is a service we are always hoping to improve so your feedback is very valuable. The place is clean and stable wifi. It is secured place as they used automated keys and door. What i like is that they have big cupboards and desk.

Staff are excellent! Always friendly and willing to help out if we have any issues. Love that it’s so close to a park and so close to the city centre without having the noise and trouble of actually living in the centre.

Location is perfect for university and shops, staff are very friendly and the communal kitchen has all the facilities and is modern. Rooms are good value as they’re a good size, however I’ve had issues with cleanliness (mainly wood lice and silverfish issues) even though I regularly and thoroughly clean everything. Overall it’s nice accommodation and it’s location makes it worth it.

I’ve just started moved here and I love it very much , I like the security guard here , Anwar he is very friendly and he helps me improve my English language .
Had the best two years at Myrtle court with very friendly staff. The best thing about myrtle court is the spacious rooms, the nice and calm student environment, and the common area!!

I had a really good time living so close to campus and all my friends in halls were never far away. The room was even larger than I was expecting and it made for a very comfortable experience and good value for money.
