Merchant City House

What are the top reasons for choosing Merchant City House?

We spoke to Unite Students to find out more:

1. Ideally located for students studying at the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University, as both are a 10-minute walk away.
2. Residents will also be able to take a 20-minute underground ride from the University of Glasgow.
3. The accommodation is located in the heart of Glasgow and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, pubs and bars so you will never be bored!
4. If you are looking to shop up a storm, you can head on over to TK Maxx, Primark and H&M, all of which are a stone’s throw away.
5. Once the sun goes down, you can enjoy a karaoke night at Delmonicas or a bubbly tea at the Tea Bar.
6. Inside the building, you can find handy vending machines.

Rooms:

You can choose between a selection of en-suite cluster flats and studios. The cluster flats are perfect if you are looking to share with friends or are looking for that community feel. If you prefer your own space, you can opt to stay in one of the studios fitted with your own kitchen.

Since Day 1 I have had a heart warming welcome from the staff, who are very polite and sociable. I often spend a few minutes speaking with Rae and Kelly at reception before or after class and it always puts a smile on my face. The facilities in the accommodation are easy to use and accessible. I haven't had any bother from using the appliances in the kitchen. And the laundry room in the basement is straightforward in terms of use. The room is fairly spacious, the bathroom is rather compact, for those who are quite tall you may have to watch your head on the door frame. The bed is comfortable, plenty of shelving space and a decent sized desk with a slide out shelf for putting keyboards or laptops. The desk also had 3 deep drawers for all storage needs. And finally a tall wardrobe with a mirror on one of the doors, 2 shelves, a coat rack and 5 smaller shelves for clothes and belongings. Overall I recommend the accommodation as its good value and located very centrally.

I had a lovely time at merchant city house. I have lived in the place for two years and I have never had major issues or issues that were not solved. The super friendly team at the reception always brought some light and positivity in the cloudy Glasgow days. Having a little chat especially with Rae or Lois on my way in or out always brought my mood up, which is a great and important thing especially for students! In general all the staff has always been very helpful and friendly.

It's safe and comfortable with good Wi-Fi, but there are no rooms to socialise in sadly.

The location is definitely one of the best parts about this accommodation, however personally I’d say the staff are the best. They make you feel at home and comfortable, not only this but are very easy to talk to. Kelly and Rae are two of the nicest receptionists anyone can ask for.
