hi my name is nav and i lived here in 2016 for six months great location near to town centre , supermarkets, library and even near to GP surgery. the only few thing i didn't like such as hygiene standards were not as such high especially in term of sharing bathrooms . another thing i didn't like was that you can hear anything happening either outside of the hostel or in side of the hostel it was very hard to sleep especially first few weeks. The last thing i want to mention was inspections. they ( administration ) have copy keys of our rooms and they inspect our rooms in the absence of us. otherwise reasonable price and location make this accommodation attractive for students.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Covid-19: i don't now how it make or helped in term of covid 19
If you want to get any rest ever again don't accept to live here. The soundproofing of these halls is really bad, I have lived in chepear flats in my life that were better built than this. The walls are paper thin, so you hear your roomates conversations, you'll hear everything going on in the whole building, from the parties, to the person sneezing in the floor below. If you are sensisitive to noise like me, please don't accept the offer. You can easily find in Glasgow an actual flat for the same price, close to the university and you'll be able to rest! The postive thing is that my roomates are nice and we have kept the flat clean at all times. The mattresses we were given were not new, they even had blood stains, and the bedframe was tapped. Although the people who manage the halls are friendly and helpful, these halls are not worth the money at all.
The cheapest halls, you get what you pay for. Sharing a bathroom is fine, and I appreciate that they actually have a small questionnaire so you're paired with people you're a bit similar to (I got put with 2 other vegans which was great). Not really attractive, but again, it is the cheapest. Great location, close to everything; only thing I hated it how s*** the windows are at keeping out noise; it may as well have been open! Absolutely love all my flatmates though. Kitchen is small but again, what you pay for. Everything always worked fine.
There are constantly problems such as the wifi not always working or the toilet seat breaking. Also, there are parties often so even if you choose a quite flat to stay in, you'll still hear the neighbors partying. The cleaning is pretty good. Something else that I was concerned about was the fact that there is not always hot water at night so it's not going to be easy for athletes as training times can be at night as well. The same goes for heating. One of the benefits is that there is space to lock your bike nearby. Security is also very helpful but only if you ask them to do something. For example, when you have an issue with music at 3 o'clock at night. Only then will they act. Birkbeck Court is in a great location. It's just 1 min away from the new sports centre and the library. Buildings like the business school, pharmacy and biomedical sciences, john anderson are 30 seconds away. All the strathclyde buildings are a maximum of 3 mins away.
Good socially for meeting people and partying, but otherwise it really is a dump. Crap value for money and far too small for 6 people to live in.
By far the smallest of the Strathclyde halls, but also the cheapest. It's ideally located, and is regarded as the 'party halls' of the Uni. If you like throwing flat parties and staying up late at night, this is the place for you. If you want a clean flat, your own space, and a quiet night's sleep, you might want to stump up some more cash for one of the nicer accommodations.
Great to make friends and right next to lecture theaters but poorly managed and no space, not worth the money
Halls are a great way to make new freinds and the layout of birkbeck made it so much easier. It had all the basic things you need for a flat, nothing glamouros but you weren't over charged for it and that's exactly what I was looking for as a student with limited money. The only thing I feel like would have made my experience better was if the comunal area was more home like. In my opinion it was very bland and felt like you couldn't really relax as much compared to in your own room. Other than that for a first flat I couldn't have asked for a better experience for the money I paid!
Birkbeck court was awful, dirty and smelly. The hot water constantly broke even though every other hall still had hot water, many blocks had to be fumigated due to a bed bug infestation (I thought bed bugs were a myth) and rent-o-kill were there every week trying to keep the rats and mice away. It cost a lot of money to stay in an absolute dump and before the cleaners came you had to clean or they would not do their job. The shower curtain was mouldy and the sofa was about 30 years old and had some unsightly stains. The rooms were so small you could barely walk around and had not even been cleaned from the person who had been in the year before. The whole halls either stunk of sick or weed and were not cleaned properly. The uni do not let you choose who you would like to share with and say that they match you with people who are similar to you and you would get along with; this is a lie. I had nothing in common with any of them. Overall, Birkbeck ruined my first year.
Cheapest halls at strathclyde but from personal experience they were the best halls socially
Birkbeck Court is the biggest halls of residence at Strathclyde. Very good value for money I felt. Only one shower between 6 but its very manageable as most people have hardly any classes in 1st year anyway. Rooms are small but plenty of shelving.wardrobe for storage space. Desk is a good size. Also room under bed for storage. The kitchen is very small but there are still 2 fridge freezers and a lot of cupboard space. Just not a lot of preparation area. Living room is comfortable with a comfy sofa and comfy armchair. Also numerous stools for other people to sit on. Living room comes with a tv (and tv license) included in the price. Birkbeck gets a bad rep but its comfortable, can be kept clean easily and you'll make great friends and meet loads of new people.
