eautiful green campus that feels calm and relaxing. There are good food options on and around campus, and the town has decent nightlife with bars and clubs. It’s not a huge party city, but it has a nice balance of greenery, social life, and places to eat.

The buildings are unique, clean and functional to their purpose. Campus is designed in a interesting way where its more complex to slowly learn your way around. Social aspects are really good, always new opportunities and ways to meet others. Wifi is adequate
Lovely campus, good support systems in place for everything sector of uni life. Great student nightlife and connection opportunities.
Good campus. Some international events are good.
Amazing career advice from Henley Business school. The campus is lovely to walk around and and experience as a student and there are a lot of events held at the Students Union suitable for everyone!
I’ve had a positive experience living in Childs Hall at the University of Reading. One of the biggest advantages is the location it’s very close to lectures and key campus facilities, which makes getting around easy and convenient, especially as a first-year student. The hall has a friendly and social atmosphere, making it easy to meet people and settle in quickly. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed, and the shared spaces were generally well maintained. It’s a lively accommodation, which is great if you enjoy a social environment.
Great uni full of amazing people. I love the opportunities and how local it is to town aswell as Home.
Pretty fantastic all round. Campus is one of, if not the best in the country (got the awards to show it!) and is pleasant to walk around even on days I don’t have classes. The many leisure facilities like cafes are well stocked, maintained and great for hang out or study, especially Mojos in the Student’s Union. All provide student jobs too. The careers service offers several skills awards (RED Awards) completable during your time at the university, as well as a huge variety opportunities required to make up the award. The Reading Internship Scheme is a massive highlight that many students use to get specialised industry experience alongside study that pays and isn’t overwhelming on top of your course. The Union is incredible - the building, facilities, and staff - in the way it works for students and staff on so many levels, I’m very grateful for the support they offer at their Advice Service drop ins and the constant events (especially sober ones!) they have and clubs and societies.

I am in my first year of university, and I can proudly say that this university has offered so much support and activities to help students acclimatise to university life, such as arts and craft events, where I have met new people
The facilities on campus are good - there is an amazing library where you can study, However, the library is often very full and it's practically impossible to find seats most the time. Definitely need to get there super early in order to get a seat. I've not actually joined any societies or clubs, but from friends who have done and from the information I've looked at, there is a good range of clubs. However, I have contacted SU to ask how to revive or create a new society and I have not been answered even though this was a while ago. Again, I'm yet to use the careers service but from what I've heard and seen, this is a great service. The wifi is hit and miss on campus. It is typically okay for studying but it often disconnects or refuses to connect at all, which can make things a little bit difficult when it comes to studying or using resources during lectures.
Overall a good campus uni. The facilities are and the teaching standard is good too. Loads of opportunities for fun whilst at uni and then career focused stuff after. Good that it is a campus slightly away from the town as Reading itself is mediocre and expensive.
Starting university at the University of Reading marked a really important turning point in my life. Before coming here I was struggling a lot with my mental health and I did not expect such a big change but being on campus surrounded by supportive people helped me more than I ever imagined. Living with my flatmates and building close friendships gave me a sense of stability and belonging that I had been missing and joining the Egg Society helped me feel socially confident and connected. The library became a place where I could focus and feel calm especially when studying with friends which made even difficult days feel manageable. The Students Union and campus spaces always feel welcoming and full of life which reminds me that I am part of a wider community. What makes Reading special to me is that it gave me more than an education it gave me friendship support and the space to feel like myself again and because of that I am happier healthier and hopeful about my future.
The teachers are really helpful and friendly. You can reach them easily. That is something that really stood out to me here, as the system is different in my country. The student union is great. I really felt that there was a strong student life here, as they organise so many events for students to have fun and enjoy their years of study. Finally, societies are a great opportunity to take part in activities with people who share the same passions.
Everything is perfect, other than the extortionate prices of the university library coffee. The drink portions are smaller than the regular coffee cups, but the prices are on par with Starbucks. Other than that, the library is perfect.
The campus is absolutely gorgeous. Stunning and you could walk there. Night life could be better. MNE is nice but honestly the best time's you'll have is with friends and luckily there's a spoons somewhere near the main town center. Students Union is also okay, the music at times can be quite awful and it closes rather early. Also getting a drink can take forever at those tiny bars. Overall though, they've done a decent job. I haven't used the Careers Service much but I know many others that have and from what I've heard, it's a supportive environment. The Wifi is great but it can be bad in certain vital locations, such as towards the end of the library at the 4th floor.
Really good experience at the university and have been happy with all the facilities available for my course. The only thing is that the library gets very busy and the wifi connection can be a bit temperamental in there.
Really good support and I think Reading Uni is great!
Studying at the University of Reading has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Returning to education has allowed me to grow academically and personally, engaging with subjects that connect law, business, and society in a meaningful way. The supportive learning environment has encouraged confidence, curiosity, and ambition. This journey is especially powerful because of the path it took to get here. I often think about my younger self, who had the drive but not always the access, and I know she would be proud. Proud that I chose perseverance, believed in my potential, and continued striving for more. Being at Reading represents more than academic study — it symbolises resilience, self-belief, and the fulfilment of long-held aspirations. It is a reminder that it is never too late to invest in yourself and create the future you once imagined.
This university has a beautiful campus. All accommodations are within small walking distances which opens more opportunities for meeting new people. Loads of easily accessible buses and great societies that organise entertaining socials. Really great student union as well.
I’ve just started my 1st year at the university of reading and it has so far lived up to my expectations. I didn’t know what I was expecting and was just hoping it to be satisfactory enough to get me to the end of my degree but it has definitely been more than that. The facilities are of a good quality and there are many places to study at throughout the university though sometimes it can get busy especially when it is the exam season so you have to get in there quickly.
Campus is nice and very green. Study spaces are good but can be limited when the library is busy. Good range of societies and the union does regular events.
Great, green campus with a reputable reputable business school which also has great teaching members. Student Union is great, they do lots of different activities, the most known is Wednesday Union.and is pretty fun. International community with respectful people is also pretty nice especially if you are an International student.
only went once to the student union, fun place but im not built for it
I am proud to be a part of the University.
I have had a wonderful time at the Uni of Reading, even though I was anxious not one person has been unkind or ruined my experience. I am absolutely recommending the Uni of Reading to my friends taking a gap year.
Good all round with lots to do
Great University with an amazing campus and lovely staff members. Living in halls of residence has been an excellent experience as well. Lots of green spaces and lots of events always happening
I am very much enjoying studying at the University of Reading.
Studying at the University of Reading has been a genuinely rewarding experience. The campus is modern, spacious, and very well maintained, with excellent facilities for both studying and relaxing. Whether it’s libraries, study spaces, or social areas, everything feels well thought out and easy to access. One of the strongest aspects of the university is the wide range of clubs and societies available. There is something for everyone, which makes it easy to meet new people, settle in quickly, and maintain a good balance between academic life and hobbies. The Students’ Union is another highlight – it is well organised, welcoming, and consistently runs engaging events that create a strong sense of community. The careers service is extremely supportive and proactive, offering valuable guidance for placements, further study, and graduate employment. The support provided feels personalised and genuinely focused on helping students succeed beyond university. Internet and Wi-Fi connectivity
What I enjoy most about Reading university is the beautiful campus, it’s full of greenery and the lake is especially beautiful at night. It’s also very convenient with many shops and food places on and around campus, making it much easier when in need of buying something rather than having to travel elsewhere. It’s a clean and aesthetically pleasing campus, with some sort of entertainment every night, making a much more enjoyable and engaging experience. The library is super resourceful and SO convenient since it’s open 24/7. I’m very happy with my choice of coming to this university.
Nothing to complain about, nice library and buildings
Honestly , choosing the University of Reading was the best educational decision I made, great university, environment and group of people.
Coming to University has been the single handily best time of my life, I came in with low expectations because I was scared to romanticise university and be disappointed, but my experience has been a dream, everyday I wake up excited for what the day will hold, what I’ll learn in my lesson, seeing my friends in the library, going to student union on a Wednesday and going into bars and clubs on the weekend. Since September everyday feels like freshers week for me I find myself making the best out of my day without trying and reminding myself to try everything at least once. The university of Reading was the perfect choice for me and I will continue to enjoy itz
Amazing with green spaces and hugley environmental awareness and decreasing their carbon footprint every year I can highly recommend, a very nice place to be.
Easy to find and receive help available from student union and careers service. Range of clubs you can join. The campus is clean and safe.
The UoR campus is a very nice campus with good facilities such as shops, library and museums. The students union provides a lot of societies and events. The careers team are very helpful and welcoming
When I joined University Of Reading as a 19-year-old first year biomedical science student from London after my BTECs, I never experienced a place and a city like it. I had a look around the whole university and I saw some lovely people and even those from different cities and countries. I enjoyed the facilities, the buildings, the classrooms, the lecture halls, the labs, the library, the cafes, the bar, the game and sports area, and even the student union. I joined a society myself and had a great time. This is a great university to go to.
The campus and facilities are outstanding and truly state-of-the-art, offering excellent spaces for both studying and relaxing. There are many excellent clubs and societies to join, making it easy to meet new people, find friends, and pursue a wide range of hobbies and interests. The Students’ Union is a real highlight of studying here – it’s well organised, active, supportive, and always full of fun events and opportunities to get involved. The careers service goes above and beyond to support students, whether with further study options, placements, or securing graduate jobs. On top of all that, the internet and Wi-Fi are excellent, providing a reliable and fast connection for both academic work and entertainment throughout my time here.
Overall, I’ve had a positive experience at the University of Reading. The campus and facilities are one of the strongest aspects, everything is well maintained, scenic, and easy to get around, with plenty of good study spaces and green areas. There is a good range of clubs and societies available, catering to different interests, which makes it fairly easy to get involved and meet new people and everyone is really welcoming. The Students’ Union is a very well known spot for Wednesday nights and although it’s not as big it is a really fun space where everyone comes together, societies, first, second, third, fourth years, postgrads etc. It’s definitely one of my favourite things about the SU. Reading is one of those smaller but welcoming, positive and personal universities, and I have really loved my time here.
Campus life at Reading is a vibrant growth within freedom—in a relatively pure environment, experiencing an intensive baptism of knowledge, friendship, and self-awareness, laying the foundation for the future. These simple yet fulfilling days will surely become a landscape I will revisit time and again.
The University of Reading is a place I call home. I have worked at the university and now I am studying at the university. The course is amazing, very well organised and highly academic. The campus is beautiful and I love walking around it everyday to relax.i could not recommend this university enough.
very good, Outstanding and state-of-the-art campus and facilities for study and leisure purposes.
A great campus, lots of sports facilities
Reading famous is a lovely green spaces to visit and to some days studying!
The University of Reading was my insurance choice, so it was not where I expected to end up. When I first arrived, I felt nervous and unsure, but that feeling did not last long. Reading quickly grew on me. The Whiteknights campus made university life feel less overwhelming, and having everything in one place and so much green space really helped, especially during busy weeks. I study Geography and Economics, and the course helped me build confidence over time. The lecturers were approachable and supportive, which made it easier to get involved and trust my own ideas. The careers service was also a real highlight and made thinking about life after university feel much less daunting. The Students’ Union added a strong sense of community through societies and events, which helped me settle in quickly. What started as my insurance choice turned out to be exactly where I needed to be. The University of Reading helped me grow in confidence and independence, i am really glad i came here
University is a modern university with loads of areas of campus to explore. As a Zoology student I have spent a lot of time in the HLS building which has an impressive museum and a chill cafe. The disappointing thing about the new HLS building is that undergrads do not get access to any special areas and the only available study space is the cafe. The University is very clean with impressive facilities. The library is extremely busy and overcrowded during the week. However, in the late evenings or at weekends, it is a relaxing environment to go and study. There are many accessible places to go and study if the library is too busy. In terms of my course, the quality of learning varies greatly from module to module. Some modules are very engaging with great supporting practicals to support the lecture content. On the other hand, some modules felt very outdated and have clearly been recycled over many years.
Good facilities, excellent staff and good support when needed.
The University of Reading felt like home from my very first week. From laughter across Whiteknights Campus to the rare sight of double rainbows after the rain, it’s a place where community is genuinely felt. Academic support is exceptional, with approachable professors and librarians who truly want students to succeed. Beyond lectures, Reading’s wide range of societies—from cultural groups like the Malaysian Society and Abacus Society to cheerleading and sports such as volleyball and netball—helps students pursue their passions while building strong friendships and inter-university connections. The Students’ Union brings campus to life, especially on Wednesdays. Events such as Halloween and the Naughty or Nice Christmas Union helped me settle in quickly as a first-year and created unforgettable memories. Thursday international food stalls, a fresh fruit and vegetable market, varied study spaces, and fast campus-wide Wi-Fi complete an environment where students can thrive academically.
Reading is a lovely campus with great support however the wifi could use abit of work and also the heating
The campus facitlites are very acceessible and mostly aesthetically pleasing which isnt necessary but it is a bonus. The library is my favourite, its decently cenral - a bit far from the science buildings in relation to the rest of campus but the walk is very nice so it doesnt really pose an issue. I like how many available study spaces it provides, and that all of them are a bit different to account for even the smallest of specifc prefrences. I also just really appreciate that they have a book in the film section about gender and sexuality in star trek.
Unreal so far in my PGCE year. I have had brilliant opportunities and great practical and theory lectures. Super Uni and would recommend to anyone looking to study at Reading Uni
I’m very happy with my experience and especially my department and professors
The campus is full of life and there are these two specific birds that always come by together walking around, I believe they’re very famous if you ask a few people. The whole view is gorgeous like the river and the greenery. I’m always getting a workout walking up and down all over university. There’s a lot more catering and hospitality rooms here and not just study rooms. I thought there were a few. However, I wish there were more free kitchens and rooms that allow you to heat up your food because I would have to walk to building to building and I dislike it especially when they are far as I may be eating in a study room but i’d have to walk back and forth just for that.
I joined university this year after my sixth form tutors insisted I wouldn't make it. So far, I've aced my module assessments and am working harder than I ever have despite having a tough situation at home.
Have had a great experience so far lots of support available and good spaces to study and well informed careers advisors.
Such a beautiful campus and a real sense of community throughout the student union activities and all the society’s available!
The union is a great place to work and makes it easy to set up a new society.
As an international student, I’ve had a great experience at the University of Reading. The campus is welcoming, easy to navigate, and full of green spaces that make it feel like a comfortable place to study and relax. The staff—especially the international support team—are approachable and always ready to help, which made settling in much easier. The town itself is friendly and convenient, with good transport links that make exploring the UK simple. Overall, it’s been a supportive and enjoyable place to learn, and I’d gladly recommend it to other international students.
The campus is quite comfortable and the people are friendly
The university of reading has a large campus filled with greenery and a great selection of events to participate in every week. The students union is efficient and manages all events and activities incredibly well as well as the number of societies that you’re able to join.
library is 24h and is pretty good, wifi isnt the best tho. really good cafes and shops - even a gym on campus. good events and societies too with loads of pop up markets
overall a great uni i love it here. the community is lovely, there’s something for everyone. however sometimes the wifi does cause problems.
Very welcoming university and offers range of facilities
The University of Reading offers a diverse range of activities and experiences to cater to all. However, the biggest issue with the campus is the limited selection of study spaces and wifi problems.
Reading university is good, the facilities are okay and do what they are meant to do. It’s hard to find space to sit during the lunch rush though. WiFi connection is a bit iffy in some places but overall pretty good university
The University of Reading offers a vibrant, supportive, and well-rounded student experience. The campus is beautiful and easy to navigate, with modern facilities, great study spaces, and plenty of green areas to relax in. Lecturers are knowledgeable and approachable, creating an engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to succeed. There’s a strong sense of community, with countless societies, events, and opportunities to meet new people and get involved. Support services are reliable and accessible, helping students feel confident and settled. Overall, the University of Reading provides a positive, enriching, and memorable environment for both academic and personal growth.
Uni overall has a nice vibe & environment. I feel safe here & I like the greenery here & I would recommend to people who like wildlife & forests. The lake here is very nice & there’s a lot of walking trails which is a great way to destress.
The amount of resources available for students is amazing and any question, comments, problem is supported and dealt with care. I was impressed with how much they provide for students and staff and even the general public.
I really love Reading university. It’s such a friendly and thriving campus with lots of social and study spaces. I am part of a great society that has helped me meet new people and learn new skills (the media society).
I am studying pharmacy, and this is an excellent university for it, as it has state-of-the-art equipment and staff who are willing to help you succeed. The university, in general, is very clean with lots of space in lecture halls.
very good and staff are frienndly
It‘s nice! The school facilities are super great. I really like it here and I hope to obtain my doctoral degree here as well
Top University and great campus
It’s been great so far! Lots to do and lots to get involved in. A charming campus.
The reception is well-responded
As a student at the University of Reading, I’ve had a really positive experience. The campus is stunning and has such a friendly, welcoming vibe, it’s easy to feel at home here. The lecturers are genuinely supportive and always willing to help, and the classes are engaging and well-organized. There’s also a great balance between academic life and social activities, with loads of clubs, events, and spaces to relax. Overall, it’s a great place to study, meet new people, and grow both academically and personally.
University of Reading has given me a multitude of opportunities to really see my potential career choice. From the Ada Lovelace event at our school, to the careers fair. I have solidified my choice that I would like to strengthen my degree in computer science, and potentially tackle a field in electrical engineering. The best part about this school is that even if I decide to want to move into a career dealing with more abstract topics in computer science, like teaching or tutoring, or even a complete change in my interests, I know Reading will support my decisions. Thanks Reading!
Overall, I’ve had a really positive experience at the university. The teaching is clear, the staff are approachable, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved both academically and socially. There’s always room for improvement, but I feel supported and challenged in the right ways.
The campus is well-maintained, clean, and easy to navigate. There’s a good variety, though more promotion of events would help new students get involved. On campus there is very welcoming and supportive; great atmosphere. Helpful advice and resources, though response times could be a bit quicker. Wifi works most of the time but can be slow or unstable in some areas.
I’ve only spend a few weeks here as a first year but I have to say that I’m truly satisfied with the university in all aspects. Very well organised, inclusive and professional.
I love the reading campus, how many green spaces there are and how they are so involved with sustainability and being a green university! The student union is amazing and inclusive for everyone
Started uni a few weeks ago, and to put it shorty I’m loving it. The campus is gorgeous, with lots of green space. I especially love the library the use of different noise levels on each floor is such a brilliant idea and there’s a variety of study spaces from tables to sofa,s to desks. There is also so many societies to choose from which makes it easy to find a community to belong to and not feel isolated. The societies all offer a range of activities which means there’s variety for everyone. All in all I am so happy I picked reading
Its a very goo experience being in the campus of the university.
I like the university's campus and how it is walkable
Brilliant campus with incredible facilities. The clubs and societies are a little disorganised but there's a huge range of them where anyone can find an interest.
Very supportive and welcoming community it feels like we are all one big family
Enjoying it very much so far and the societies are very fun. It’s easy to get warmed up to and the campus is very pretty
I have been going to university for my postgrad for about 3 weeks now. I have really felt the community within the university which is completely different in my experience as an undergrad (at a different uni) ai think the campus feel of the uni is very strong. There has been hiccups but speaking to my programme leaders i’ve been able to be directed to the right path, which i am very happy with. I feel like I am exploring connections and have been given an appropriate amount of information about different services, The reason i rated career so poorly is just because i don’t need their service yet and have not engaged as it is not the right time. I can’t wait to explore more about this uni and making new connections!
Visited campus and I knew this was somewhere I could see myself living, feeling comfortable and supported. Campus is well signposted, easy to navigate, clean and kept well maintained. Wide variety of places for students to relax, socialise, eat and study
Good university. I would recommend it to others
One of the main features of this university is the green campus - the morning walks are nice, especially if you commute. The staff are always willing to support you and there is a nice community around you.
The university has excellent facilities, i.e., teaching, and a marvelous environment which attracts concentration, both academic, technical, and administrative staff are very friendly in such a way that you are free to talk to them regarding any matters, from academic to social life. Generally am proud to be at Reading University.
The campus is lovely and buildings are all walkable. My favourite are the numerous trees and greenery which are much needed after staring into the void of my laptop screen for HOURS. Quite up to date with the tech as well and IT service here is quite quick. There are so many clubs and societies. You think about it, it's probably made already or in the process. If it's not, then you are given the liberty to make it yourself :> Student Union here is top notch when it comes to support. You have a question, they have an answer. Lots of fun events where you can meet people. And they also organise halal fun for those that aren't into drinking etc. Careers Service here is also great. Lots of vacancies for campus jobs. Campus jobs are my personal favourite as the uni knows that we are students first and foremost and that your schedule is built around your timetable which is epic! Less stress and more time for yourself. Internet is alright. I won't lie as there are so many of us here.
Amazing university that really helps international students away from home
Good university, happy with my place
Great. Execllent social atmosphere
I genuinely love UoR, i recommend it to everyone, i am having the best time here !!! i love the societies
Very nice campus and good sense of community around the campus. Nice to walk around and meet your friends
It is all in all a decent university, however the nightlife is severely lacking.
It was great, really enjoyed my stay in reading
