The city is fairly quiet but a great place for students that enjoy the outdoors as the area is surrounded by scenic countryside. The Forest of Bowland is located to the east of Lancaster and is a stunning area for hiking trips. You can also visit the Lake District, only 1 hour away, for weekend trips. If you fancy a trip to the coast, you can explore the English seaside town of Morecambe, just a 30-minute bus journey away. Lancaster is full of beautiful architecture and there are a range of castles, memorials and cathedrals to explore.
