Queen Mary University of London (QMUL)

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Big and comfortable with a gym
I enjoyed how safe the accommodation was as it was located inside the university making it very easy.
NSP system is bull**** but staff is friendly and overall quite convenient location
Racist Staff, mentally tortures students over basic necessities. One of my flatmate got a scratch on the stove so they turned off both our stove for 2 months and demanded every flatmate to pay 350£ in total to fix the stove. Did not fix it even after we paid the money, until we threatened them to take legal action Rudest manager I have ever seen in any accommodation. Will never recommend scape to anyone.
Scape is excessively expensive. It has very poor security- several armed gang members have gotten into scape and threatened students. It is not very clean, the cleaning staff which per our contract is meant to clean the kitchens once a week often skips several weeks. Awful plumbing and infrastructure in general. There have been instances where the first floors were flooded and people’s items were ruined. The staff treats the residents like we are school children- as opposed to 18+ students. The staff is incredibly invasive. Usually maintenance/ cleaning people in students flats just loitering. I usually had someone in my flat 4 times a day and 3 times a night. Just doing random checks and checking up on us. They will often just come into your room even after you specified you don’t want them to come in. Do not recommend.
poor services, only 1 lift for a 9 floor bldg which never works, staff isn't on the ball/ proactive. overall not a good experience and not worth the money.
Pretty terrible, staff make fun of the students here which makes it a difficult place to live.
Pretty rude staff that make fun of the students who live here, makes me hate having to leave the building because I know I have to walk past them.
They haven’t terminated our contract. Expecting us to pay full amount when other private accoms have terminated their contract. No one is living in scape yet they are charging FULL
They are predatory and callous. They are trying to enforce third term rents for students despite the fact we've been advised to return home by the government and our universities are closed during the covid19 pandemic. Liberty and Unite among others have already cancelled third term rent payments in light of the extraordinary and unforeseen circumstances but Scape is continuing to extort us.
Selfish people who take us hostages and not give us our money back or at least a discount considering that the rooms are empty. Furthermore, we had a smart tv which never worked properly (check my google review on this place for coherence)
They’re holding student financially hostage by making us pay for rent during this pandemic when some international students HAD to go back home. Universities and even the government urged internationals to return home before the closure of boarders so we left with no choice. Scape still wants us to pay while other private halls are waiving the third instalment. Don’t recommend at all! And maintenance is awful, so slow and doesn’t do a good job at all.
They are insisting on collecting payment for rent during the coronavirus crisis even though we are no longer living there.
The worst student accommodation I have lived in. There is no frequent cleaning of the shared kitchen, some staff can be quite rude and worst of all during the covid19 crisis they refuse to let residents cancel contracts regardless of their financial state and that people have left to go home under government guidance
Refusing to terminate contracts despite the current covid-19 situation. Irresponsible and unfair for students.
Terrible value for money. SCAPE are trying to profit off students by not allowing contract cancellation during Covid-19 pandemic. Other accommodation have had compassion to cancel contracts.
Terrible value for money. SCAPE are trying to profit off students by not allowing contract cancellation during Covid-19 pandemic. Other accommodation like Unite Rahere Court have had compassion to cancel contracts. Not to mention, they do NOT clean communal shared kitchens.
The management is very poor . They haven’t fixed my bathroom door since the first day despite multiple complaints . They are holding us liable for the 3rd instalment even though we had to head back as advised by the university due to closures because of the Covid pandemic. Extremely poor
Luxury student living..... good views and affordable prices
There have been a lot of issues here, but I appreciate the staff trying to help where they could. Things break down a lot, there’s only 5 washing machines and 5 dryers for hundreds of people... not really worth the money overall unless you’re very rich and don’t care about money.
the price is reasonable and location is good.
Great place to live. Super clean, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They are also very accommodating.
