Deakins Place Biography
Deakins Place is brand new, meaning you get to enjoy a range of modern facilities and rooms. This residence is the newest addition to Student Roost's Nottingham Quarter, a purposefully designed student hub. It's only a five-minute walk from the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus, and across the road from the bus station with links across Nottingham.
Residents can keep fit in the on-site gym or catch a movie in the cinema room. There’s always a helpful and friendly face available, with on-site staff around 24/7. There’s a buzzing social calendar for you to join. You’ll also benefit from free Wi-Fi throughout the building and on-site laundry facilities.
Deakins Place offers four different types of en-suite rooms, each fully furnished with a communal kitchen and living space. Alternatively, they also offer two types of studios which boast a private self-contained kitchen, bathroom and living space.

Deakin’s Place is a great property, but unfortunately suffers from having an unjustifiably-high price tag. I paid £194/wk for a 47-week contract, and while my room was modern and had adequate storage (including a good amount of under-bed storage) there is very little difference in the amount of usable space between any of the room tiers. The bathrooms in every room in the building appear to be the same standard unit as well, so aside from the studio flats I struggle to see the merit in booking a silver or gold room. The walls are relatively thick, but a lack of soundproofing on the doors means that you will hear every door in the block slamming shut several times an hour. By far the strongest asset of Deakins Place are the team who run it, who have always been friendly and helpful whenever I have approached them: thanks in particular to Liz and Nathan from the front-of-house team and Pete from the maintenence team, who have always been incredibly efficient and attentive.

Overall, the kitchens and rooms are not worth the money, the common areas are very nice but the price point is just too steep for what it is. The staff are all lovely especially Matt, Jada and Nathan are super helpful and lovely to talk to.

Deakins is in a good location, with good links to uni and also to the town centre. I just feel like we pay too much. I also have friends in a bronze room who have the same room as me, I just don’t understand the difference I pay for having a silver room. The staff are lovely and helpful and maintenance always comes quickly and gets things sorted out.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The difference between Bronze, Silver & Gold room are primarily how big they are, specifically the floor space. Each room has the same furniture, features, and decor, but it will differ in size. As well as size, the rooms are categorised using a combination of reasons such as location and layout. Some rooms look and feel bigger/smaller because of their shape so we’ve taken this into consideration when categorising them. We really appreciate the feedback. Many thanks - Student Roost
Deakins is in a really social area because there’s so many other accolé nearby. Also Lidl, Aldi and jubilee campus are conveniently close. The social spaces are nice and since you have access to Nottingham 2 study spaces that helps. I’ve used the hosting kitchens to have a pancake day which was really fun and helpful since I didn’t have to inconvenience my flatmates. There’s pretty much always someone at reception to get parcels too.

Deakins place is overpriced especially in the flat I have and the frequent amenities breaking. Though the highlight would be the staff especially maintenance and reception like Nathan due to their kindness and helpfulness.

Very clean and tidy place. Receptionist are very helpful though they may not be there 24/7, but they are there most of the day. Good place in terms of location, it is near many food spots and grocery places! Good if your not very familiar with Nottingham.

getting back with friends from a night out and an hour later all having to go outside cause the fire alarm was set off and it wasn’t just a drill so we were all hungover sat together in the car park area out front.

Deakins place can be summed in two words. FUN AND HOME. Starting from the amazing staff that insure that from day one till now it still has that fresh new building whilst also making sure I am happy and comfortable the only complaint I could have would be the wifi sometimes.

some problems with electricity and water leaks that maintenance struggled to deal with. need better facilities to deal with maintenance problems. apart from that a very good place to stay if a bit expensive.

My daughter is still, after 2 weeks, having issues with WiFi and is unable to use it. ASK4 the provider is useless and the staff at Deakins really couldn't be more unhelpful and any less polite, basically it is an outside issue so don't care. As full wifi is included in the cost I am more than tempted to hold back on the full rent until it is sorted. Unfortunately, neither Deakins nor ASK4 will take any responsibility and call in an engineer.
