For the cheapest available accommodation in Liverpool I wasn’t expecting much. However I have been proven wrong. The location is perfect , especially for studying at Byrom street. The library is next door literally. It’s only a short 10 minute walk to lime street and to town. The flats are just what you need and are clean it’s up to you to keep it that way. The rooms have everything you need and I really love mine. I love the fact there is always security behind reception to you always feel safe. Everyone at marybone is so lovely and we all have so much fun! I would 1000% come back to marybone again.

Everything you see in this package is a total lie. Being a 1st year student in MB1 I haven’t had any access to the gyms and common rooms, this is apparently because their not actually in the tenancy agreement so they don’t have to be open to residents of MB1. The WiFi barely works and is always cutting out. My room stunk of weed when I first moved in, and we had to ask for bins, microwave, toaster, mop and hoover. Even the lift didn’t work on the first day of moving in. The windows have never been cleaned and the safety bar in our own flat is hanging on by a thread. Reception staff are generally nice but most of the caretakers come across as very passive aggressive. Despite expecting low standards and only having to pay £80 a week I still somehow feel like I’ve had the worse end of the deal.
It is an ongoing joke between students that nothing here works.. i actually get surprised when something does. Staff are unhelpful. The only accommodation in Liverpool that kept students paying full price rent during corona virus. 800 students moved out of Marybone and were charged thousands of pounds. Only care about profits

For what you pay, this is excellent. There are some issues, but none too bad. Because it's so cheap, there will probably be things in the room that break. But in my experience they have been small things, and maintenance is over the next day at latest even when it's not an emergency. Staff are friendly and understanding. From the group chat and stories of previous years from hallmates, things can be loud and there are lots of parties, but for me it has been mostly fine. There are also nice gestures like tea in the reception which are nice to see. My only issues are that there is no way to opt out of certain emails but not others, so you get some unnecessary ones, and the inspection weeks are unreliable at best. Twice so far they have been delayed without prior notice, and once they didn't even come in the delayed time they told us.
At any point during the night, you will hear a rendition of Robbie Williams Angels.
Value for money : Cheap, get what you pay for. Location : Right next to every other hall Cleaning : What cleaning? Maintenance: My shared shower was broken from day one and after multiple attempts at getting it fixed I gave up and it was left broken. In addition to that the front entrance to reception was broken Heating : I hope you like being cold because heaters which turn themselves off when they get too warm are what you are going to have (and remember the temperature of the heater does not mean the room is warm). the heaters are also placed directly below an enormous window which counteracts any warmth they produce. Enjoy freezing your ass off in the winter. Common room / Social spaces : Are you joking? I have at least a thousand spam emails from Marybone, about running club which I can't block without blocking other vital communications from them. Internet is fast but too much down time, also they hijack browser requests redirecting you to their website
Great place to live, however I live in Marybone 3 and I'm a nurse with having to get up for placements early in the morning, people that live in Marybone 2 are up at all hours with loud music and screaming. Also I live above the gym and constantly hearing th treadmill banging is very frustrating especially when it's at 10pm and you have placement at 5am the next day.
For the money I have paid, I would easily live here for second year, but I'd prefer my own bathroom so I think I'll stay in another halls, maybe even Marybone 2
Amazing location but quite expensive
Great value for money and great fun!
I didn't have the bests of times here, and was actually at least a half an hour walk away from the library I was in need of and from lectures. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone doing drama or anything arts based
Expensive for bare basics. Really good location for the city centre (you're in it). Everything breaks a lot. Walls, floors, ceilings are extremely thin. Lifts break a lot. It's a bit depressing.
Cheap and cheeful. Can be really loud. Needs refurbishment but otherwise good.
