I've stayed in Ben Russell for 2 years now going into my 3rd but bare in mind that I can only speak to the Gold tier rooms as that's what I've used. To begin, it's in a prime location on campus (I could practically fall out of my door and land in my classroom) and its got a good value for money for people that can't afford some of the newer/fancier buildings around here. Yes, there are some faults: the flats/fixtures are a tad aged and could do with some sprucing up and there have been some plumbing issues in our current flat. However, good progress is being made inside the building. Recently they've taken to refitting the hallways with new carpets and giving it a fresh lick of paint which certainly helped to brighten up the place. Also, the staff have always been prompt and a pleasure to deal with; whether they're coming to fix something, around cleaning the halls or helping students at the front desk/via email. They're a lovely bunch and they do good work!

Quite an outstanding experience one can have as a student for an acceptable prices as well.
Absolutely lovely staff and great location
It's been a month since I arrived here in Leicester and checked in into the Ben Russell Court. I recommend this property highly for all. It's situated on a prime location, it's nearer to the city centre and other attractions. The staff here are very helpful, they helped me a lot. They arrange events and competitions which are worth participating. I have no complaints. Keep up the good work!
Awesome accommodation with easy access to school facilities and local shops for your daily everyday needs. Very responsive to faults in the accommodation and very reliable. You get great value for money spent
The staff here are lovely, when we had to isolate they brought all of our parcels up and took our bins for us. They're always doing quizzes and fun activities to take away from the stress of uni and give us a chance to have some fun! The only issue is the WiFi can be abit iffy but I think that's just any accommodation anyways.
Ben Russell is a great student accommodation to stay in and it's very affordable. It's very well maintained and there is a lot of breathing space. It's also located less than two minutes away from DMU campus. The staff team at Ben Russell is also always kind and welcoming and they have been so very supportive throughout the Quarantine Period. On the other hand, they often host activities to keep us engaged and leave treats for everybody to help themselves at reception. Delivered orders are also stored carefully and the halls are kept warm during winters. ✨
It is the second year I am living in Zip building, and they are lovely. They have been taking care of me very well during my self-isolation. Sue and the team are amazing and really helpful they will do their best to sort out any problem.
This accommodation is by far the best for value in money. It was the most affordable I could find and is located right on campus, taking me two minutes to get to my lectures. Not only that, it means living right next to the city centre and not having to travel for ages. The internet is good, better than my wifi back at home. There's a lot included for the price, which is why I've stayed there for two years. The staff are lovely and are always willing to help.
BAD management. NO safety during cover-19 with flat entered with no writing or even knocking, just shoot me get it over with ? ROBBERS. Stingy. UNCLEAN flats expect a lot of cleaning. Empty promises.Expect the guarantor called for 40PENCE in the first term as they CARE about students and just want to make you lose yourself and fail uni and book again:) One phone conversation won't work expect many more. only want the money and do not care bout anything else. Bad work n service done throughout the year, Poor communication from staff members is their norm. Items of inventory is just a joke and will not be provided correctly. Have them on speed dial or make trips to office 24/7. WANT their money tho, Students matter to them they claim? STUDENTS FUND their millions collected. DO NOT book. Expect dangerous times in the Flat with bad work done, bad communication. false promises.
The place smells. The accommodation is very dirty. The Management staff are rude. They walk into the apartments without being invited. Please stay away form the terrible place.
I usually don't leave review on people business or badmouth other People stuff because one day I know I will own my own business hopefully and a 1 star review won't help the survival cause. But recently you guys are doing a madness. You expect me to pay over £1000 for something I won't be making use of like where is your humanity and you started quoting from a contract like my life and health which includes the health of people around me is important than just a piece of writing like no one asked for Coronavirus but we all have to adapt. Nevertheless, other accommodations are already making decisions over this and it is not that we are asking you to be touch bearer and lead the move, we are just asking you to follow what other student accommodations are doing and be considerate and have a little bit of sympathy. Also, I rebooked my room and I have done all my necessary stuff. I rebooked because I know I won't have to move my stuff out but now I have to pay.
Don’t move in, the most disgusting accommodation in Leicester. It’s dirty!! Whole place smells 24/7
I can confidently say this would be the most horrible experience you can get as a student. Old, dirty, smelly, bad management, very unsocial mates, and people smoking weed and pot everywhere. I spent one education year in this place, and I can say by far, it was my worst year ever. Stay away, and rent a shared house.
Photos are MISLEADING. A lot of NOISE and LIGHT in the room. (sleep and reading issues) OLD and DIRTY building. According to these also is EXPENSIVE, maximum 20 pounds per week. (Easily can be a motel) !!!REALLY BAD CHOISE!!!
I can't recommend this place to anyone. I was doing a semester abroad in Leicester and found this place through the internet. Just to sum up a few things: 1. From the beginning they promised me I would be put in a flat with medical students. I ended up with only nurses, which is not the same. 2. My room was not clean when I arrived. 3. It's a very noisy place, but that is what you can expect from a student accomodation so wasn't too big of an issue for me. 4. It is so expensive for what you get. The apartments are quite small and I shared it with 4 other people. For the same price, I've got a whole studio for myself back home. 5. In the end, they substracted extra costs for the internet from my deposit, which is absolutely not how a deposit should be used. When I complained about this and showed them that my contract said it should have been handled beforehand, they just ignored me.
Myself and my flat mates have hard quite a lot of trouble with this accommodation. They haven't been the most considerate of managements. We're student nurses and as we asked to move flats due to noisy neighbours at night it took a lot of arguing for them to solve the problem. The actual accommodation is decent, if you don't have any problems you'll be fine.
Rent prices are constantly changing, some flats are not clean on arrival and smell, shop deliveries are a major inconvenience to nurses sleeping after a night shift.
