Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Great student accommodation with an excellent location close to the University of Glasgow.
Very nice team and living environment in this flat! Charlene and Col have been very caring! I sincerely hope that all will remain well with Bridge House as it joins the University of Glasgow in the coming semester!
a lovely room to stay in, and people are so nice here
spoke with Col and he welcomed me to Bridge House. Told me info about BH
Clo is really niceee! It’s really great experience to live here!
people here are very friendly, and the equipment is good 👍🏿.
The staff is exceptionally welcoming, the apartment is very clean inside, and the view is amazing!
Everything is well but the only thing is that my door would get some problem each month and they never actually fully fixed it.
It’s really nice to meet C here
Amazing place to stay! The views outside the huge windows are so stunning and relaxing! It is close to the river, Kelvingrove Park and University and Glasgow which you could all see from the windows. Lots of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. The space for shared kitchen is large enough for six people. Our staff are so nice and so willing to help us :) I am definitely gonna miss my days in Bridge House. Love it!
I spent two years in a row in Bridge House of Glasgow. The time here is amazing! The place is really nice and staffs are extremely helpful and kind. I will miss Bridge House of Glasgow!
Amazing team and great location! Only downside is the Wifi connection which often fails.
The staffs are nice. Location is quite well. While the facilities in public kitchen in the en-suite is not quite enough for six people.
The strength of this place is great location, accessibility to other facilities, and the view.
Really nice place to live in, our receptions are such nice guys,I really like them. We have a gym and study rooms and everything. Our room and kitchen are big enough and this apartment is very close to the Morrisons and Lidl. I really like it, and I'd like to recommend it.
My stay at Bridge House has been an incredible one so far! My room is very spacious and well looked after, the kitchen has lots of storage space and great facilities, and the view from my room is absolutely stunning! The thing I like most about my room, by far, is the huge window that allows me to watch the sun set and rise over Kelvingrove Park and the big tower of the University of Glasgow. However, the biggest reason I have truly enjoyed my stay here at Bridge House, so far, is the welcoming atmosphere created by Col and Charlene - the staff that are always offering a helping hand at reception. They are always in for a chat and are always so willing to guide me through whichever 'problems' I face. It doesn't matter how big or small: they will always provide a creative solution, which really means a lot when you are far away from home. I am so happy I chose to spend my Glasgow adventure here at Bridge House!
The hall is located near by a river, which looks great through the window in the room. And it is quite near from GU(15min walk).a very peaceful place~The social space is satisfying with a gym,a reading room and some open space.
Wi-Fi is very bad, playing games and watching videos are often dropped.
Great location and comfort facility
The reception is very nice and friendly, help me solve many problems!
Bridge House is an amazing place to stay. It is modern clean and nice and quiet. The rooms are great and staff wonderful and friendly. It feels so much like home with a very friendly safe feeling to it. Takes me just 5 mins walk to classes. Shops are really close and convenient too.
really good experience The location is great and staffs are really kind helpful and responsible ! By the way, the heater is not warm enough
Bridge House is a great, modern accommodation that is so close to Glasgow Uni. The rooms and kitchens are a great size. There are loads of shops, bars and restaurants near by with great transport links. I am post grad so enjoy the site because its not party central. I can study in the social spaces and it feels like a home from home. The staff are amazing, so friendly and will do anything for you. I would recommend this site to anyone.
Do not ignore the reviews saying it is around 80% Asian and if you're any other nationality you will be left out!! I ignored as I was assured my flat was 50:50 which was absolutely not the case! No one would talk in the kitchen and if you think you can use the lovely social area, don't be so sure, literally no one ever uses it. If you aren't interested in any social interaction but nice facilities bridge house is for you
Even if they say something else this is a 90% chinese student accomodation, which mean 2 things: Probably you wont make any friends and the kitchen/living room is gonna be a mess always, you cannot even fight because they just dont talk to you and speak in mandarin between each other. On the other hand, location is perfect, the room is always warm in winter and the building is quite new so everything looks nice.
There are some things I absolutely love about living here and a few minor irks, but that's the deal with any living establishment. The absolute positives. The staff are amazing! all of them. The location is absolutely perfect. less than 5 minute walk to Kelvin hall, and maybe 10-15 to library, depending on how fast you walk. Everything is included in a fair and decent price, only negative is there's only 2 washers and dryers ea. and they laundry can at time be a little backed up. (not often though) The 'negatives' Common areas can get really noisy sometimes, and on the lower levels it's really annoying when at 2 am someone is outside drunk yelling & laughing super loud. Social areas are for being social but not everyone in the building wants to party(doesn't happen every weekend, but has happened a few times)but that's mostly 18 yo being 18 yo's. Only downside is no authoritative figures to control when pass an acceptable time However, overall an amazing place to stay! Do recommend
This is the great accommodation I have ever chosen. Great environment, great management. One the perfect thing is that you will feel so warm in your room in the winter even you turn off the heating radiator.
It's a pleasure to live here. I like the quiet.
if you are not a chinese student you will have a harder time to actually be social in this dorm - even though the dorms offer great monthly/weekly socials, few people actually go and since the majority is chinese and they tend to not mingle with non-chinese. which is sad but so far i have not made any friends. cleaning: there is a nice cleaning lady cleaning the common spaces on the ground floor - flawless. but for your shared kitchen and shared hallways you and your flatmates are responsible, which can be a source of conflict if your flatmates don't (like to) clean. otherwise, staff is absolutely great, i will miss them when i move out.
