Where is Swansea University Located?

The University is located on the south coast of Wales. The Singleton Park Campus is set within quiet, leafy parkland overlooking the beach, while the Bay Campus is situated directly on the eastern edge of the Swansea Bay shoreline. Both campuses are well-connected by a frequent 24/7 shuttle bus service, making the city centre’s shops, restaurants, and the famous Wind Street nightlife easily accessible. Just a short journey away is the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering world-class beaches like Rhossili Bay and Three Cliffs for hiking and surfing.

Graduate Outcomes

Swansea’s Careers and Employability team are committed to student graduate outcomes, working with student throughout their studies to develop the skills, experience and confidence needed to build a rewarding career. The team work with students to secure internships, placements, volunteering opportunities and graduate jobs, facilitating CV writing and interview practice. The team host a calendar of events each year, including careers fairs, skills-building workshops and key employer networking, building positive graduate outcomes for every student.

Facilities

Swansea has invested significantly in our infrastructure to bring world-class facilities across both campuses, including:

- A global hub for Engineering and Management at our £450m Bay Campus, housing advanced flight simulators, wind tunnels and materials testing labs

- SUSIM – a World-Leading Simulation and Immersive Learning Centre, at both our Singleton campus and St David’s Park, Carmarthen campus, offering a variety of simulation-based tools to learn through real-world scenarios, including patient actors, manikin simulation, virtual reality and an immersive wall simulation

- The Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Research (CSAR), a centre of excellence equipped with modern, fully programmable recirculating aquaculture systems, is one of the most comprehensive university-based aquatic research facilities in Europe

- Our award-winning Law Clinic is housed within a professional, purpose-built space including client interview rooms, student collaboration spaces and staff offices

- £20m Swansea Bay Sports Park with an Olympic-size swimming pool, pitches, a running track, an indoor athletics centre, a gym and racquet courts

- The Great Hall, a £32m cultural arts venue for the University and wider community, with an 800-seat auditorium, state-of-the-art lecture theatres, meeting rooms and a café bar

- Taliesin Arts Centre, a vibrant on-campus hub for cinema, theatre, ‘Taliesin Create’ student space, and the Egypt Centre, home to the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in Wales.

What is Swansea like?

Swansea has so much to offer students, from the boutiques, independent coffee shops and restaurants of the Uplands, to the vibrant cultural scene of the Glyn Vivian Art Gallery, National Waterfront Museum, Grand Theatre and Swansea Arena, and the calendar of annual events hosted in the city including the IronMan 70.3, Swansea Bay Airshow, Swansea Bay 10k and Half Marathon races, as well as a variety of live music and cultural festivals.

For those who love the outdoors, the university’s unique location means you can go from a lecture to a beachfront sunset or a hike in the park in just minutes. And with the Gower Peninsula on our doorstep (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), there are over 20 beaches to choose from, to surf, paddleboard, kayak or simply sit and enjoy. With easy access via local bus routes or the use of our Swansea University Cycles, there are so many local adventures to be had. Or a little further afield are the endless hills, valleys and waterfalls of Bannau Brycheinoig national park. 

Student Life

Swansea offers a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment in which to live and study. Sport plays a central role in university life, with a strong belief in its power to bring people together and create positive change. The university is committed to making sport accessible to everyone, offering opportunities for complete beginners and experienced athletes like to stay active and feel part of a vibrant community.
With more than 50 sports clubs and 120 student societies, alongside over 5,000 active members and year-round events, there is something to suit every interest. First-class facilities include 50-metre and 25-metre indoor swimming pools, a state-of-the-art university gym, modern fitness studios, basketball, squash and tennis courts, and extensive outdoor playing fields. A highlight of the sporting calendar is the annual Varsity competition against Cardiff University, which fosters a strong sense of pride and belonging among the “Green and White” community.

Community spirit is central to life at Swansea, supported by the Swansea University Students’ Union (SUSU). From K-Pop and Surf to Rocketry (SwanSEDS) and Irish Dance, there are opportunities for students to explore a wide range of interests.
