Applying to Nottingham Trent was one of the best decisions of my life. The vibrant student life on and around campus, the working community within my course (big up architecture) as well as the unparalleled oppurtinites for students seeking success both during and after their studies makes NTU the one for me. Companies often visit our Student Union to host events with chances for networking opportunities - plus freebies! The lecturers here genuinely seem to care about their students. I love it here! There is truly something for everyone in NTU.

They’re always so kind and helpful throughout each day I’ve stayed here. They throw regular game nights and quiz nights and other events where we eat food and drinks and win prizes like black panther tickets and they provided to black adams tickets recently too to whoever wanted to go with. Nice, diverse uni. Attentive staff
I would recommend NTU as a university. Most of my social interaction was done in the city rather on campus.
Studied ABHons and wish I had never gone to this university. Wasted 3 years of my life practically retaking my GCSE's. Much of the information was regurgitated simplistic information that is not worthy of university standards. Friends doing very similar courses at other universities were shocked at how poor the content was. Your entire module grade is based on ONE assessment that covers information from 1 or 2 lectures at best, the rest were garbage time wasting. Many lazy lecturers (not all, a few I will be staying in touch with due to industry connections, but by a few I mean 1). Shocking. If you want an easy degree then yes this is the university for you, but if you actually want to develop and progress in life, go to a different university. The prospectus is all lies. I can name multiple subjects that were promised that never got taught. Lab skills had absolutely nothing to do with any of the assignments, your just going to get experience but then have no way of applying the-skill

Brilliant University for your postgraduate course
I studied Decorative Arts at NTU and my 3 years was a complete s*** show. First year got cut short because of covid so all teaching went online for the second year. Communication and clarity was nonexistent and expectations to produce final pieces when we had no access to workshops was a joke. Come third year, it seemed lecturers had forgotten how to communicate and teach in person. People who ‘specialise’ in a particularly area seemed to be braindead and show no interest whatsoever about students’ work (well, only their favourites). If you have an opinion or speak your mind, express your feelings at a minimum, it’s likely you’ll be reported and subjected to misjudgements and unfairness. Your grades probably won’t reflect the hard work and determination you’ve put in, but I suppose it doesn’t matter for my course; considering it’s now discontinued. Only positive I have is the constant support from the ceramic technicians :)

My first year at NTU has been fab. So many places to explore both in the city and on campus, however I do wish I did more of this, and intend to do in 2nd year. The facilities are incredible for all courses, both online and in person, there's always something or someone that can help support you.

Good uni, especially for law. Staff not always that helpful and you struggle to get an answer from them if you have queries. Saw my personal tutor once and then she didn’t bother in second or third year to contact me. Nice campus and Close to the city
University student union is very limited compared to other universities alike.
NTU is a good uni. Nottingham is a great city for students

If this is a university you want to go to. I urge you to strongly reconsider. I didn’t come to university for the social aspect I came for the course & teaching. I was completely let down. The student support is terrible. Tutors give such a lack of support if you need to turn to someone to help you, you don’t have anyone (as my tutor took a month to reply to my emails on 2 occasions). When submitting your assignments you have to put your name on the document. I know that many other universities don’t do this to stop bias & discrimination. This Univeristy doesn’t have this so whoever is marking your work can actively discriminate against you/ mark you down/ give you ineffective feedback etc. if they don’t like you or if they have prejudices. Course structure is terrible. I’m very confused at how this university had received an award for ‘gold rated teaching’ when many students I have spoken to on my course want to drop out and feel unsupported, unsuccessful and unhappy in their course.

I’ve been here for 2 year and I love how the uni has a lot of students and the societies really encourage you to socialise, if you can’t find a society there is always something happening at the uni which can help you.

Nottingham Trent is great university as you able to have a balance between your studies and clubs, as there is a wide range of societies and clubs for varied ability and commitment levels e.g. Intermural Sports clubs and Beginners Teams so you can suit the societies to your studies

It’s good. Depends on your course
NTU was the perfect choice for me, they gave me the support for me to achieve a first after struggling through A levels and the opportunities so I have been able to leave with many options. The societies are really inclusive and the Wednesday night social is infamous.

Been at NTU for 7 months now and have had the time of my life. The nightlife, combined with the university itself creates an unreal and utterly enjoyable experience. Whenever anyone asks how uni is going I am simply lost for words and just smile and sigh - that alone conveys my answer. If anyone were to ask about uni or which uni they should attend. NTU is my first choice (no bias Ofcourse) despite visiting a decent amount of others; including Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester etc.

Good first year experience. SU supplied plenty of freshers events and activities throughout the year as well
NTU’s business school is really good, as is the Newton Campus as a whole. The facilities are nice and the Student Union bar and club are a point of pride.
The university campus has high quality facilities for the amazing courses that are available. NTU is at the heart of the city centre which means easy access to clubs, pubs and shopping while still being able to access the high quality GOLD standard teaching available.

Being a city centre campus, you don’t always have an enclosed uni experience like you would have at UON but this is better IMO as everything is closer to you, plus the SU being a club is pretty sick

Good uni just most people that attend are unbearable

The university is great, people really helpful, a lot of nice events for improving student life. Really easy to transform it in a home. Teaching is really academic and I recommend it 99%. The only thing that I am disappointed is that my course on Architecture is really challenging with a lot of work to do which on my opinion I am in love with it. But sometimes can be really bad if you are disorganized as I am and could affect your mental health. I got depressed because of the amount of work and I wasn't the only one so we made a complaint letter which hasn't done that much. I told them about my mental health and they provided me with well-being sessions that apparently next free spaces would be in more than a half of month which doesn't help at all.

At the same time, we are very sorry to hear about you being depressed due to the amount of work on the course and that the well-being sessions are not availble for quite some time. We would suggest you to address your concerns to your subject coordinator and let them know about your situation. We are sure that your subject coordinator will do their very best to make sure something is accommodated for you and to provide you all support that you need.
The only thing that isn't great is the gym on the city campus. Classrooms are nice, the professors are great, lots of club and society options and they're super active, lots to do.
It's brilliant to hear that you are enjoying many aspects of your time with us! With over 120 societies to choose from, it is a great way to meet like-minded people. As well as our City Sports Centre, we also have our Lee Westwood Sports Centre based on our Clifton Campus and many other great facilities to choose from, so you should always be able to find something that works for you. We hope you continue to have the best experience with us at NTU!

My experience has been fantastic, I’ve made loads of new friends, my facilities here are superb, I find it really easy to cook in my room. once again Ashley is a massive help with answering any questions I have, for example I lost my room key and it was sorted out by him straight away!

Campus is good but the actual Lecturers don’t really care. Asked my lecturer for some support and he practically said maybe in the future.
