Straits Meadow Biography
Located in Edinburgh, Straits Meadow offers students the perfect home away from home. You have easy access to numerous universities such as the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh College of Art and Queen Margaret University. If you are looking to get out and about you can take a five-minute walk to Holyrood Park and a ten-minute walk to central Edinburgh.
You have all the amenities you need to make your student life as comfortable as possible. There is a common room with a communal TV, a pool table and table football in the games room for you and your friends to enjoy or you can bask in the sun in the outdoor area. When needing to concentrate on your studies you can make use of the WiFi. For added convenience, there are also handy laundry facilities, bike storage, a vending machine, on-site maintenance, CCTV and a fob entry system.
At Straits Meadow, you have a range of modernly designed ensuite rooms and studios to choose from. Each room has its own private bathroom, study area, comfortable bed, wardrobe and storage space. If you choose to stay in an ensuite room you will have access to a large communal kitchen, alternatively, if you prefer to have some more privacy you can opt to stay in a studio, where you will have your very own kitchen.

My stay at Straits Meadow has been remarkable so far. Despite its location being a bit farther away from the main city center of Edinburgh, there is everything you need nearby and many bus links to different parts of the city. I also enjoy how close Arthur’s seat is from the accommodation as it makes for nice walks (you can even get a nice view of it if you are located on the upper floors). The social spaces are always clean and comfortable, with regular and fun events held throughout the semesters. The property team is always there to listen, help and overall very supportive through any issue encountered. I would only have nice things to say about Rhys and Rachel. Finally, Meadowbank stadium being located on the other side of the road is also a big plus for anyone looking to get easy access to sport / gym facilities. I would recommend anyone to stay there for their studies at Edinburgh. — Léa

Straits Meadow is a great place to stay as a student. The rooms are very pretty and the staff here are very kind and helpful individuals. They will always take your concerns seriously and provide helpful solutions to the problem. The distance between Straits Meadow and the University of Edinburgh’s Main Campus takes around 20-25 mins on the bus. It is also within walking distance as well and will take roughly the same amount of time as the bus. Some people may find it a little far away, but I personally think having a little distance between the accommodation and campus makes your student life more enjoyable and can help to separate your private life and your academic life. There are a reasonable amount of bus links nearby to go anywhere in Edinburgh as well so I am rarely worried about travelling here. In the year I have stayed here, I have made many friends and fantastic memories. I definitely do not regret staying here!

The facilities of the studio are very complete and the heating is very warm. I am very satisfied with this. There is a bus stop at the door, making traveling very convenient.

I had a great experience staying at Straits Meadow. It's just 15 mins away from the city center with very good connectivity. The location of the accomodation is pretty amazing. It is very close to Portobello Beach and Arthur's Seat and also has McDonald's right next to it which is open 24/7. The property staff is very friendly and helpful who oragnise a lot of events for us to socialise (my favourite being the painting sessions). Would definitely recommend you to book your stay here.

Extremely rewarding year spent at Straits Meadow. Great location for students as it is far from the hustle bustle and noise of the city center, it helps you to focus on self studying. Great links to bus stops (walking distance) to reach the Uni. (Although can be a bit far from the King's Campus) 10-15 minutes bus ride to Portobello beach, which allowed us to have random bonfire nights. Also, walking distance to Arthur's seat, great area to jog/cycle around. Situated right next to McDonald's, very convenient to fulfill late night (or literally anytime) hunger cravings. Very friendly staff at the property, helps with any issue. Study space and common room are very comfortable. They also organize various events, grab and go breakfast, mental health days where you can draw and paint on the canvas provided. I've found an amazing bunch of friends too! It is a relatively new property, built a couple of years ago, so no maintenance issues as such. Totally recommend to future students!!

I really had a good time living in Straits Meadow. Although it a little far from Campus GS, it near the bus stop. The price also offset its distance defect. The staffs are all friendly.

The building is impeccably maintained, with clean common areas, hallways, and other shared spaces. The kitchen is shared with only four other flatmates, which contrasts most university accommodations where 7-9 people typically share a kitchen. Throughout the year, numerous events take place, including a visit from Santa Claus during Christmas, Easter Egg activities, Ramadan celebrations, and various giveaways like books. Additionally, monthly free breakfasts and complimentary fruits are provided for the residents. Overall, the living experience here is both comfortable and engaging.

Straits Meadow is a great place to stay! My studio is quite roomy. It’s also very pleasant and convenient to live here because there are a large shopping center ( Sainsbury’s, M&S outlet etc.) and several bus stops nearby.

So, I started my stay in september 2021, i booked the classic ensuite, and honeatly speaking, i was quite worried at first, since i arrived, i received so much support from the Team itself and specially talking about Rhys and Rebecca, rhet are the best. For Accommodation Feedback: The rooms are really good, well-built, great space even for the class ensuite. The washrooms are the best. Kitchens are amazing, so big with a lot of space for storage. The best thing is that, its quite near to Meadowbank Market where Kfc, Mcdoalds, Sainsbury, Poundland , MnS and Tk Max are just 5 mins walk. While it's a little farther from the university buildings and other amenities, the place has an amazing accommodation team who are friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately there's been constant construction going on on the building so it can get really noisy but hopefully that'll go away when construction is over.
