A very disappointing place to spend thousands of pounds on. Throughout my time staying there, there were continous problems with hot water and Radiators as they just did not warm up. There was only one of the two lifts working at any time and this was an issue for me as I was staying on the top floor. The kitchen is not designed to be a sociable place as there were no sofas and just 1 wooden table with 8 hard plastic chairs. There is only one electric oven between 8. There was an infestation of silverfish throughout the flat. The kitchen fluorescent light fittings are full of dead flies and wasps. The shower in the bathroom often flooded. The gaps between the door frame and my bedroom door let too much light pollution in from the kitchen and corridor lights. All beds in penmaen are single only no doubles or 3/4. I was lucky to have a good view from my bedroom window of Swansea and Mumbles, but that was the only positive of this room and staying in penmaen for me. Avoid this place!
Lifts regularly break and are left broken for a long time there’s no social spaces within the accommodation to meet those not in your flat however is situated very near the student bar
Standard accommodation overall, the beds are comfy and the rooms are a decent size but we have had several problems with the heating and hot water. They seem to take a few days to resolve them. There are 2 lifts and there is always 1 lift out of service which is a pain as I live on floor 8. There has also been a few times when both lifts are out of order. Maintenance problems are resolved slowly which I think is poor as we pay over £6000 for the year.
For such a basic and small accommodation, Penmaen is quite expensive. The facilities are all very basic or slightly faulty. The bedrooms are small with not enough storage, neither do the kitchens have enough storage for 8 people. The wifi cuts out a lot but when it works then it is good. I have had multiple periods without hot water for days, sometimes without heating so they need to upgrade that system. There are no proper social spaces (like other unis have sofas) either. However, there is weekly cleaning and weekly bin changes which takes the pressure off and ensures a nice living space.

No spaces to socialise with the flat but the location is ideal for anyone studying on singleton campus
The building is in a fantastic location but needs improvement there is no social spaces in the flats or the building as a whole which makes it harder to run events and also means you can only socialise at the kitchen table
Hot water very temperamental. Radiators broken a couple times. Lifts break very often
Good for uni accommodations but definitely some improvement needed
Convenient, definitely the best on campus (with Horton next door), but you pay a lot for that privilege. Most maintenance issues solved within a week or so, but some took longer.
Excellent proximity to the university and other amenities, more social areas in the kitchen would be ideal
At little but outdated and expensive for what pay for
