Positives: -Location is perfect, close to town/big Tescos/uni. -Rooms are good sizes, have large notice boards, good storage, good furniture and relatively big mirrors. -Room was clean on arrival. -Kitchens have ample space. -Mentors are helpful Negatives: - If its warm outside it will be 100x worse in the flats, hardly any ventilation. Unfortunately this will also occur if there's more than 6 people in the kitchen, so if you have people over for pres etc it will get so hot we legit had to pass round a freeze block during freshers. -Bathrooms get so humid so get mouldy really fast. - Kicthens don't get cleaned but accommodation that's the same/cheaper do, which is fine but also adds to the price being over valued. - Plastic isn't recycled here which is odd. - Have had the reception staff be rude to me when I asked if I could get my post. - Quite noisy at times, especially from floor above
The living condition is alright but some facilities are old and problematic. My toilet licked seriously once and the guys who came in and checked it told me they have no idea where is licking after an hour checking. Also the system of getting deliveries is not efficient. You can only get it when it is 3-8pm and only after you get the message in your mailbox. Stuff here are alright most of the time but once I went for my mail, there s only one guy at the reception I said"can I get my mail sir" and he said "unbelievable". What does that suppose to mean?! and he was being super impatient when he went to get them, let me find my own slot and signed when I cannot find it he treated me as idiot and didn't even check my id. I personally will not live here next year and I think there are better places to stay in Sheffield rather than Allen Court
Rooms are so nice but Allen Court seriously lacks a good social atmosphere! - Flats didn't really mix with other flats - The 'common room' is by reception and never used! - Very close to union and library - Closer to town so shorter walk back from nights out! - Endcliffe (where most students live) is a half hour walk away
It's really good. Situated at an amazing place. Wonder why so many people go for Endcliffe when Allen Court is located in the best lace ever. 15 mins walk to the city centre, 5 mins walk to the library, the Arts Tower and honestly just anywhere most lectures take place. Very very good. Spacious rooms as well!
It is quite a good room, it just wasn't clean when I first got here. However it is very conveniently located for those who are doing engineering courses especially as it is a five minute walk from the main buildings that you will have your lectures in. It is also only about 7 mins away from the IC (main library and computer area) and about 10 mins away from the student union.
I really enjoyed living in halls, I had the best flat and the best floor. Everyone on my floor got along and we all hung out together. living in halls also made my social life at uni be amazing because I was friends with everyone on the floor and in my flat from the first night we all moved in and I'm still really close with all of them.
Management are very bad and unhelpful. My bike was stolen from the main courtyard - the gate to this courtyard was broken meaning anyone could access this courtyard, which is why I believed my bike was stolen. Upon mentioning this, I wasn't taken seriously until threatening official action through the University complaints procedure. 3 days worth of CCTV was kept, which was deemed unsatisfactory by investigating Police officers, however I believe this has now been improved. Management staff can also be very unapproachable and unfriendly. Overall though, the building is maintained well. Rooms contain lots of storage and are well kept. Disappointed that communal areas are not cleaned by the cleaning staff as this was done in Endcliffe Village at the same rent. No TV port in bedrooms, whilst it is advertised as there being one.
