We'll definitely pass on your positive comments to the sit team! Thank you for taking time to leave a review; much appreciated.
good location and lots to do near it
Thank you for your review! We are so pleased you liked the location as Gill Street is located in close proximity to the University and the city centre.
got placed here because i suffer with anxiety and all it did was made my anxiety worse. don’t expect a decent night sleep here, especially on a ground floor flat (people banging on your bedroom window and pissing outside). we also had dodgy electricity in the kitchen for a good while (when we moved in to after christmas) and no one could be bothered to actually fix it. unprofessional staff/cleaners and no support available. they’ll also rob your deposit when the damage was already there when you moved in!
Flats are very nice inside, but very pricey. Noise is bad especially late at night (even after 4 AM) or at 9 AM when sometimes the lawnmower and leaf blower make an appearance.
This halls and Byron were by far the best halls
The accommodation is amazing, everyone I’ve met and know wishes they stayed here, the facilities are great. I always feel safe and enjoy myself.
I would have preferred less people to a flat
This was my first year accommodation, I loved it.
Perfect location and lovely modern accommodation
Amazing. Has no faults whatsoever. I love GSS! Perfection
[All the one star rated things were only because I couldn’t give 0 stars!]. Worst place to be in, haven’t gotten a full night’s sleep since I’ve been here. Hall management is an absolute joke, they don’t take you seriously and only start to when problems get bigger and higher authority get involved. The rooms are definitely overpriced and aren’t worth it at all, connection is poor. Only decent thing is location. Avoid at all costs mate!
The rooms are a nice size, despite it being one of the most expensive ones at NTU it does have a really good kitchen and an incredible loaction.
Gill Street south is in the perfect location as its on city campus. It is quick and easy to access all your lectures/seminars etc. Tesco express is a couple mins away and it takes 10 mins to get into town centre. The bedroom is a standard size with great storage space. The wardrobe is bigger than expected which is a bonus. The beds aren't comfy whatsoever, I'd highly recommend getting a mattress topper. I love living here compared to other accommodations however the accommodation is massively overpriced, it isn't worth the £150 per week. I live in a flat of 11 we get, 3 sinks, 3 ovens/hobs and 3 fridge freezers. The receptionists are lovely to an extent but when it comes to reporting maintenance issues they take their time in getting them sorted. We moved in to quite a few problems which took forever to get fixed.
Gill street south is a great accommodation, the location is very handy as it's central to all the lectures halls. The en-suite bedrooms are really handy as you have your own space and can wash freely whenever you want. The size of the bedroom is standard, the storage space is really good. The wardrobe is bigger than expected which is a bonus. The bed isn't comfy at all, I'd defiantly recommend getting a mattress topper. However for what you pay I don't feel its value for money as everything is very basic. It isn't worth the £150 per week. I live in a flat of 11 and when we moved in we already had loads of problems which hadn't been fixed from when the previous tenants moved out. We had an oven which didn't work and it took three attempts of reporting it for it finally to get fixed, after over a month of waiting. The receptionist are helpful to an extent but when it comes to reporting maintenance issues it takes time for them to actually come and sort out the problem.
This accommodation is amazing for the location, you can make it to lectures in literally 5 mins. There is a small Tesco a 5/10 min walk, 10 mins to town, and next to uni. For value for money, it is a ridiculously expensive accommodation, and despite it being a really halls, its not worth the £150 a week. The other halls however aren't as nice, so it really depends how much you value halls. Rooms are a good size, large desk space, single bed (which is horrendously uncomfy - I got a foam mattress topper from Amazon for £40, so worth it), ensuite wetroom, sink, shower and toilet. Loads of storage, wardrobe with 2 shelves. I live in a flat of 11 so our kitchen is huge, each got 2 cupboards, a shelf in the fridge and a drawer in the freezer. Ive been to other flats that have smaller kitchens however. Cleaning service is okay. Had lots of problems with maintenance, takes ages for things to get fixed, ovens, hobs, taps etc. Social experience can't be faulted. Overall, nice halls but v pricey.
Enjoyed my time staying at Gill Street South, I'm staying in the M block which has direct access onto Hampden Street, very convenient! What attracted me to the accommodation was the room itself on the open day, very modern room with plenty of storage although it can look small its very spacious. Love having an ensuite, wouldn't want to share with no one! Kitchen is cleaned every week which is great only downside would be that there's no tv/ satellite availability so you can't watch tv other than that I'd say Gill Street South is as good if not better than Byron, they're very similar in terms of rooms. Will miss this accom
Go to Byron if you like going out cause of Saturday SU and it's cheaper ) and you get free entry and queue jump in the block directly above SU (B I think?) and Byron have lifts and we don't. (The lifts bit is key cause walking upstairs is effort) but would totally recommend GSS
Expensive for what you get but it's still worth it to be in such a nice place so close to the uni, could do with a lift
Expensive for what you got Didn't mix flats well - could've made sure a good mix of boys and girls Common room would've been good to meet other people easily from other flats Management ok, but had to go to other halls to speak to anyone-no reception at the halls Great location Rooms nice and ensuite good Nice kitchens
These halls are very modern with great size kitchens and nice/well equipped rooms! The kitchen (which is the social space) is cleaned every week to a very high standard. Maintenance are efficient to deal with any issues with appliances etc when they break down and management are also effective and efficient when dealing with queries. These halls are situated right on campus, close not only to the university buildings but also the shops (both supermarkets and clothing etc), bars, restaurants and clubs - they're right within the city centre of Nottingham. The rooms are all ensuite and are a good size - they have a large desk to do work, plenty of storage space and are very modern. The main downside to this accommodation is you cannot receive a tv signal as there are no satellite dishes on the building and so you cannot watch live tv. There is no tv in the kitchen either, which at times would be a nice feature when flatmates are away etc. apart from this, it is very good!
