St James’ House is located in an idyllic area. Not only is the accommodation within walking distance to St James Park and Leazes Park, but it is also surrounded by every shop, bar, and restaurant that you can think of. Northumbria University, NU Business School, and Newcastle University & INTO Newcastle are all less than a fifteen-minute walk away so you’ll never have to worry about being late for class.
There are a variety of communal spaces for you to enjoy, such as the communal lounge, cinema room, gym, and study room. You can even have your own dinner parties in the hosting kitchen. To make your stay as easy as possible, there is WiFi, bike storage, staff on-site 24/7, and content insurance. St James’ House hosts numerous social events throughout the year, so you can be sure you’ll never be bored.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

It’s my first year in St James House and it has been quite pleasant. Staff here are very friendly and warm-hearted. They are willing to help us with all kinds of problems at any time. Flat service is warm, clean and hygienic. The room is clean and tidy with complete facilities. The flat is conveniently, which located close to supermarkets and shopping malls. The reception staff is also very kind and dedicated. They always deal with our needs at the first time. Lu, in particular, is a friendly and enthusiastic staff member. When we meet problem, she always helps us to resolve it with great detail and patience. By the way, the flat also organises events on festivals to bring us together. What's more, the residents of the flat are also very nice, like a big friendly family.

The accommodation is in great location. Maintenance and repairs can be done fast and in time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you have any problems, they would like to help you. Also the accommodation organized a lot of events including international festivals. I love staying here.

I picked this building to stay in because it’s small and peaceful. The staff are extremely supportive if you experience a problem. I like the fact we celebrate lots of different religions including my own. The building is always clean and everything I need is available here. I really like the reception staffs, they are very helpful and kind. We have Cinema room, air conditioned common room and study room, the environment of public area is excellent. The location of St Jame’s House is near to the city center, so we can go to everywhere easily on foot.

Excellent location, management, room is ideal, good wifi connection , has a washing machine in every studio apartment . Spacious apartments, parcel collection service available . I had a memorable stay.
Great place to live, the smart tv sometimes has a delay in picking up the wifi but other than that it was brilliant. Having the large bookable kitchen was great for holding big dinner parties, with the common room great for studying and drinks etc. Maintenance team were great and very quick to respond.
