PROS: Facilities such as the vaccum, oven, shower head etc. at Pooley House kept breaking BUT the hall management team was AMAZING. There was a reception team based at France House but you can call them if you ever run into ANY problems in terms of maintenance and they'll repair it either the day of or day after really quickly and they'll even send you email updates regarding your issue and their progress. SUPERB. CONS: Keep in mind that QMUL is a relatively small campus uni! So in terms of location, it's alright since it is still walking distance to everything on campus but in comparison to the other houses, its location is a bit of a nuisance. It is the furthest away as it is at the end of the campus so you'd have to keep that in mind when you're carrying heavy bags of groceries or when you're late for class etc. Lack of social spaces but Pooley House is known for always hosting amazing parties so it was never a problem. Overall, definitely a good place to stay
amazing, great rooms, great price and if any problems they where resolved quickly
Great, But can get loud at times.
Good but no privacy
Ensuite but not a good size. My flat had 10 rooms and some were considerably larger, it was mainly dependent on where it was in the building. The lift was broken way too frequently in my block and that was an issue since there are 7 floors. The cleaners in my flat were extremely bad. Some of my flatmates were very dirty and the cleaners really didn't care to make the situation better. One of them would sing so loudly in the morning she would wake the whole flat up. My complaints were either ignored or once we got a poster saying how we weren't fulfilling our responsibilities so the cleaner didn't have to do her job. To explain better, a knife was left in the sink which smelled of fish after a weekend of not being cleaned and so we could barely go in the kitchen. When I complained they said well she didn't have to do anything today because the knife was there. Pity that some flatmates don't care about the rest and some cleaners aren't willing to work. Overall my experience was meh...
Fire alarm when off more than any other hall, the wifi is terrible, and the communal spaces are tiny when you have 9 in a flat. Also, it is the hall farthest back on the campus.
