Alwyn Court is located near Cardiff University, with the Student Union and humanities campus being less than a five-minute walk away. Being located in a popular student end of the city means you have the city centre and St David’s shopping centre right on your doorstep.
To keep you and your belongings safe and secure, there is CCTV, contents insurance and secure key entry. You can have peace of mind knowing that all bills and WiFi are included in the rental price. There is a management team ready to assist you during your stay and for your convenience, there is a kitchen and laundry facilities.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Generally a good experience here, however probably wouldn’t come back to stay another year. Communication between staff is difficult, and promises were made (eg having a weekly cleaner) but haven’t been fulfilled. Quite pricey for the overall quality and experience!

Studio is spacious, well insulated, comfortable. I have had no maintenance issues. On the 2nd floor, despite a window on the main street, I have had little issue with noise. Location is excellent. You are right by the uni, station, city centre, supermarkets, various nice shops and restaurants, and a solid laundrette. Internet is very fast and overwhelmingly reliable, with the occasional blip never having lasted longer than a minute or so. Corridors are often dirty and the social spaces are functionally non-existent in this building: a few benches next to overflowing container bins. You do, however, have access to other, nicer Hello Student buildings. Very few (and sometimes a total lack of) containers for mixed recycling waste and no bins for organic waste results in everything being piled up in the general waste containers, resulting in overflow, spillage, and the attraction of vermin. This is very gross and unpleasant. They need to add more recycling and organic containers.

We don’t have recycling bins in Alwyn court. And the toilet sometimes smells bad. But overall the package and the experience living in Alwyn court is good

I wouldn’t say this is the best accommodation option. One major inconvenience is that the reception isn’t in the same building, so I have to go to a different building for assistance. Even parcels don’t get delivered directly to this location, which makes it a hassle to pick them up. The biggest issue I’m facing is with my room lock, which malfunctions and keeps locking automatically on its own. Despite raising this with the staff, maintenance is slow and not very thorough; my bathroom issue, for example, still hasn’t been resolved. For the rent I’m paying, I’d expect a more reliable level of service and better upkeep, especially since it’s just for a single room. Overall, the high cost doesn’t really match the quality of experience here.

Great near to city centre and good area

Good position, I can go to school in only 3 minutes. The room is pretty big, and a television is provided, which can be used as computer monitor, really helpful for my study (and saves my money to buy a monitor). Moreover, there is a little park outside my window, which is a good view.

Could have included laundry and better amenities

Arrived at the accomodation just to get greeted by an awful,dirty room that wasn't even cleaned after the previous tenant left.

Staff are great. The location has access to great amenities, and social establishments litter the surrounding area. The only downside is the audible railway just outside the window.

Had a lot of problems when I moved in, I think the staff did their best to deal with these but they could have been more helpful in the beginning. After making serious complaints, the staff started to take me seriously and it worked out in the end with my room being upgraded free of excess charge.
