Overall, my experience at the University of Birmingham has been exceptionally fulfilling. The university stands out for its inclusive culture and cutting-edge infrastructure, particularly the new School of Engineering. My Master’s program is well-structured and academically rigorous, offering a perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. While transitioning into a new field and navigating the British weather presented initial challenges, the unbeatable convenience of the campus—from the on-site train station to my nearby studio—and the support from my tutors made it an ideal choice. It is a place where academic investment truly meets a high quality of student life.

I am a second-year Psychology student at the University of Birmingham and have had a very positive experience overall. The university offers the best of both worlds, combining the safety and community feel of a campus with the opportunities of being based in a vibrant city. The campus is clean, well maintained, and welcoming, with green spaces and historic buildings that make it a pleasant place to study and spend time. Its location is a major advantage, with the city centre just a six-minute train journey away from the university’s own station, making travel easy and affordable. Socially, there is a wide range of options, from diverse nightlife to societies and activities for those who prefer quieter, non-drinking events. Academically, the university provides strong support through excellent facilities such as the Careers Network and Academic Skills Centre. Overall, the University of Birmingham offers a well-rounded experience that supports both academic and personal growth.

I enjoyed my time here at UOB. I highly recommend joining and trying as many societies and sports as possible to get a feel of everything and make the most out of your university life.
I was very satisfied with the academic and welfare support provided by the university. Each student was assigned a personal tutor, which was extremely helpful throughout my studies. I was able to approach lecturers and tutors at any time to ask questions or seek academic guidance, and they were always supportive and approachable. In addition, I successfully received a university scholarship, which made me feel well supported and valued by the institution.
The University of Birmingham offers a well-rounded and high-quality student experience, combining strong academic standards with excellent facilities and a diverse, welcoming community. The teaching is engaging and research-led, with approachable lecturers who encourage discussion and practical application of ideas. The campus is beautiful, well connected, and has a strong sense of community, making it an enjoyable place to study and live. With good career support, a vibrant student life, and its location in a major UK city, the University of Birmingham provides an enriching environment that supports both academic growth and personal development.
Overall, my experience at the University of Birmingham has been excellent. The teaching is high quality and engaging, with supportive but appropriately demanding seminars that really develop your critical thinking. Campus facilities and the library are great, and the Student Union and societies make it easy to feel part of a diverse, welcoming community. The workload can feel quite full-on at times, but the support and overall environment make it very rewarding.
My time here at this university has been nothing short of excellent in my 3 years of studying here. It has a great social atmosphere, amazing diverse student group, and just so much to do! The students union is fab, offering so many events from the first day you become a student. From all the freebies in freshers, they host events all year long ensuring that everyone has a great student social experience. I made so many friends through the societies, some I can even call my best friends now. Besides the social aspect, the academia is excellent, They have some of the best lecturers and professors that are experts in their field so you are literally learning from the best.
I have had such a positive experience at university so far, I truly believe that it has helped me become the best version of me and it is definitely the happiest I have been in a long while.
Very good! Definitely come back again
I can honestly say my time at the University of Birmingham has been fantastic. It balances being a prestigious Russell Group uni with a close-knit community feel. The campus is the highlight. The 'Green Heart' is beautiful, and the mix of historic redbrick and modern buildings is stunning. Having University Station on campus is unbeatable—you can be in the city centre (New Street) in 7 minutes, giving you the best of both worlds: campus safety and big-city nightlife. As an MSc Microbiology student, the facilities are world-class. The Collaborative Teaching Laboratory (CTL) is high-tech and makes lab work a pleasure. The Sport & Fitness Club is also one of the best in the UK, with a 50m pool and huge gym. The Guild of Students is huge and active, making it easy to find friends. Plus, Worklink makes finding flexible part-time jobs on campus simple. A perfect mix of serious academics and fun student life.
The University has been brilliant so far, there is always so much going on in every aspect of live. My course has be detailed and really well delivered. The campus is beautiful and always full of happy smiling faces, with support around every corner with someone available to help if needed. The best experience for me has been joining societies and getting so meet like minded people, allowing us to meet up weekly to see each other. I think Birmingham is a really great place to study, I feel I have not yet maximised it to its full ability utilising everything that is going on: carers support, wellbeing services, academic skills centre. Utilising all of this is the best advice I could give and I will attempt to the same as I move through uni.
I’m still in the process of writing my story, it’s been a pleasant one
Beautiful campus and very fun community with supportive professors.
University of Birmingham is a great place to study due to its beautiful campus, amazing facilities like the library and sports and fitness building, and convenient location, as having its own station means you're only a 7 minute train journey to the city centre. The student union is active, hosting weekly bingo, quiz nights and student nights. There are also many food hubs and cafes on campus meaning you have plenty of options of what to eat if you are hungry after lectures.
I have had an extremely positive experience at the University of Birmingham and would highly recommend it. Coming from London, I was a little nervous about settling into a new city, but the university has been incredibly welcoming from the very start. The campus feels safe, well organised and supportive, which made the transition much easier and helped me feel at home quickly. The facilities are excellent and genuinely enhance student life. The 24/7 library is a huge advantage, especially during busy periods, and there are plenty of study spaces across campus to suit different ways of working. Everything feels well maintained and designed with students in mind. I study Psychology in Education and the teaching has been a real highlight. The lecturers are extremely knowledgeable, passionate about their subject, and very approachable. They are always willing to offer support, whether that is academic guidance or general advice, which creates a positive learning environment
My time at the University of Birmingham has been excellent, and I have thoroughly enjoyed all three years of my degree. In first year, I lived on the Vale, which was a fantastic accommodation and provided a great introduction to university life. In second year, I moved into Selly Oak, where I have continued to live in third year, enjoying the independence and sense of community that comes with it. Each year, I have really appreciated the campus itself, which makes the university feel distinctive and was one of the main factors that initially attracted me to Birmingham. As a History student, I have been consistently challenged throughout my degree, which has been both academically rewarding and intellectually stimulating. Alongside my studies, I have made some great memories through involvement in sports teams, supported by excellent facilities, particularly the gym, which I have really enjoyed using. The university’s location has also greatly enhanced my experience. Being based in a la
It is set in an ideal place, where you are 30 minutes away from the heart of Birmingham, allowing you to explore the natures and the busyness of the city. The university is a great place to study due to the student support groups which enable you to access large communities and find your ideal study buddy, alongside a coherent timetable for you dedicate time towards your studies. It also allows you to explore your identity, with numerous societies, days and huts which are catered towards different groups and cultures. The University is the most targeted university when it comes to employment and the skills that are taught within modules and courses directly make them applicable within the real world, which makes you very malleable when it comes to the real workforce as the university instills core skills and knowledge that is required and this is why the University of Birmingham is ranked 95 in the QS, attracting many international students.
I have loved every minute, from the sport and recreational societies to the support within my course, you feel supported with constant opportunities to develop and prepare for the world of work. Also, the campus is not only lovely, but has some amazing study spaces all around. Within the student union, Joes bar is great, with it being a key spot for me and my friends to hang out, while many of the recreational societies being run out of there such as board games.
The campus and facilities are beautiful. The campus is lovely and green and students will have picnics when the sun is out! Sports facilities were renovated for the common wealth games 2022, and there are over 300 societies to join! I have met so many of my friends through the student union and we always go to events here. All of the student union committee was voted in by students so they really represent the student's beliefs and goals. I found my career placements on my own however there is lots of career support available for applications and interviews. Eduroam wifi could be better.
I really like my university. My course is great, and the societies and clubs are very varied and fun. The night life is also good and I’ve made lots of friends through the great community at the uni.
I have really enjoyed joining a sport at university! Good socials and facilities.
Great! There is a bus stop downstairs where you can take a bus to school. The staff are very dedicated and solve the related problems very quickly. The network is very fast.
Everything feels great, and there are also movie theaters and mahjong! The bus stop is right downstairs, and the supermarket is also very close by
Moving to a new country alone was terrifying. I had endless worries—homesickness, safety, comfort—but the moment I entered True Student Birmingham, all those fears disappeared. This place felt like home from day one. Even when I stayed in my room for days, I never felt lonely. The staff supported me at every step, responded instantly to emails, and fixed issues without delay. When my heater stopped working, the property manager came himself and made sure I was comfortable. That level of care means everything, especially as an international student. Thank you Sid, Mint, Lee, and the night staff for making this place safe, warm, and welcoming. I’ll always be grateful I chose True Student Birmingham.
Beautiful university campus with dedicated buildings to each degree subject and supportive university services and lecturers.
Every staff member here is very conscientious and responsible.
I think the living environment here is great. And the staff are really dedicated. It feels like home. Also, the internet connection is solid. It's definitely the top pick in Birmingham!

My experience at university has been genuinely positive. I feel like I’ve had so many opportunities to grow, explore my interests, and discover more about myself. The environment feels welcoming, supportive, and honestly like a second home. I’m grateful to be here.

I’ve also appreciated the diverse student community and the range of academic and extracurricular opportunities available.
Really well-rounded university from timetabling, support, and the campus itself. Brilliant night life around and always something to do!
It's a really good university with great support.
Best place to study If you're looking for good qs ranking uni
The campus is one of the best in the country, it’s what originally drew me to Birmingham on my open day. Also, in my first few months I’ve felt welcomed at the university by the vast amount of clubs and societies they offer.
Very good and campus is lovely
The school is very beautiful and I like it very much.
Amazing Campus with dedicated lectures

Great student accommodation, newly renovated, very clean, and in a great location. Many activities support student life, and the front desk service is excellent.
There is a free concert at the school every Friday noon,I can enjoy music while taking a rest
I'm very impressed with this dorm room. Firstly, it is surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to move around and store my belongings. The room was immaculate upon arrival, which was very appreciated. Additionally, the atmosphere is consistently peaceful and quiet, making it an ideal environment for both studying and relaxing. It's a wonderful place to call home during the semester.
Wonderful school has a great atmosphere
The school environment is beautiful, the campus is large and the facilities are well-equipped. I love this university.
The environment is very good and clean, the equipment is very new, and the staff's service attitude is also very good.
Living at The Old Fire Station has been one of the best parts of my student journey. From the day I moved in, everyone was so welcoming — it instantly felt like home. The community here is lively, supportive, and full of positive energy. Whether it’s late-night chats in the common room, movie nights, or just helping each other with uni work, there’s always a sense of belonging. The location couldn’t be better — close to everything I need, and the staff are always kind and ready to help. I’ve made so many memories here, and it’s truly been a place where friendships and experiences grow. ❤️
Very cool and everyone is friendly
All the staff are very enthusiastic.
Very good i like studying there
Wi-Fi is slow and unstable. other things are all right.
I’ve really enjoyed studying at this university! The teachers are supportive and knowledgeable, and the classes are both interesting and challenging in a good way. The campus has great facilities, and there’s always someone willing to help when you need it. I’ve met amazing people from all over the world, and the overall atmosphere is really welcoming. It’s been a great experience so far, and I’m proud to be a student here!
I think this is an excellent school. It has well-equipped facilities and very elegant buildings. Additionally, the knowledge taught by the professors is highly professional, and I really like this place.
This is my first month studying at the University of Birmingham, and everything feels new to me. Almost every day, the university and student societies organize various activities, training sessions, and sharing events—some free, some paid. Participating in these events is a great way to relax after studying. Moreover, the campus and its surroundings are quite pleasant, making it ideal for walking around when there are no classes. I think it’s a great option for those who enjoy tranquility (and with convenient transportation facilities available).
The internet is good but sometimes stops working which is difficult when you cannot get service in some study areas. Careers service is good but it is difficult to get in contact with specifics. Clubs are good and campus is pretty
Studying at the University of Birmingham has been a refreshing experience — it’s a place that genuinely encourages you to think independently and find your own path. I especially appreciate how approachable the professors are and how diverse the student community is. Every class pushes me to look at problems from a new angle, and the campus itself has such a calm, inspiring atmosphere. For me, coming here wasn’t just about studying Financial Data Science — it’s about learning how to grow in a completely new environment, to challenge myself, and to find a sense of belonging in the process.
The university website needs to improve.
The wifi signal can be enhanced.
Lovely campus with amazing facilities and greenery, best gym I've ever seen, lots of green spaces and amenities with sumptuous food and outlets at reasonable prices. Staff are courteous, very helpful and understanding of any questions we have.
i’ve really enjoyed my time at UOB so far! the campus is beautiful in all seasons and it’s so close to the city without actually being in the city. most of the lecturers are great and always willing to help or answer questions. there’s lots of study spaces on campus, some silent, some where you can talk/eat which is nice. there are computers and printers around campus and the wifi always works well. they have a free careers network and wellbeing service although i haven’t used either very much so cant really comment on how effective they are.
UOB is the perfect place for student studies, with every amenity students could ask for.
Really good engagement on and off of campus!
Truly great and massive campus and student diversity
I prefer the environmental construction of the school.
Good support from every part. Lots of events for international students. Comprehensive websites and supports for career.
The university campus is huge and so beautiful! There are many great study spots, and there are microwaves in many spaces for you to heat up your food. There are many places to eat as well.
The experience at university was great. I had the chance to make many international friends, and the teachers and staff were amazing. The lecturers really knew what they were doing, and the facilities were modern and well-equipped.

Love it so lovely go UoB my favourite
Amazing Experience Already! Even though I’ve only been at the University of Birmingham for two weeks, I’m genuinely impressed. The campus is modern with excellent facilities and interactive classrooms. The teaching style is engaging, and the staff are very supportive. What I love most is the career support—there are constant workshops, networking events and guidance that make you feel future-ready. Student life is vibrant with lots of activities and societies, and the campus feels safe and welcoming to walk around. Overall, it’s a perfect combination of strong academics, opportunities, and community. I’m really proud to be part of UoB!
no enough experience,I just arrive uk
Choosing this university was a great decision, mainly because of its excellent facilities and teaching staff. Everything is conveniently integrated into one large, beautiful campus area. The library, in particular, is more than adequate and a truly pleasant place to study. I especially appreciate that if I ever get tired of studying in one spot, there are always so many other great places around to work on assignments or just read. The campus is also ideally located, with easy access to shopping centers and student accommodation, which makes daily life incredibly simple and convenient. However, a word of caution for those seeking a specific aesthetic: if you are dreaming of a classic, historic UK university experience—the kind you see in Harry Potter or period films—then this might not be the right fit. The campus leans towards a modern architectural style, and the city center itself feels very different compared to many other traditional UK cities.
The university offers many facilities and services, but there are certain problems like the walking distance to some building from outer roads and due to the amount of floors of some buildings, there are lifts installed however these sometimes don't work. The university is overall good as it has many study spaces and it needs getting used to due to its size.
The University of Birmingham provides excellent career opportunities and have amazing partnerships with external companies, which is important when studying a Master's course
The uni is really good overall and its extremely helpful and calm around here
This campus is very good, I like it
Welcome to true apartment! Okay!
Honestly UOB IS THE BEST! As a Londoner it’s helping me fall in love with Birmingham and all the facilities it has to offer is a bonus in every way!

Nice campus good friendly staff
Such a pretty university with so much to do which you wouldn’t even know about unless you came here, such as the library, the market stalls every month, the food, the masssive library and sm places to chill out.
i’ve had a good experience here so far
Great campus and social experience
Wonderful place ,best professors, diversity of culture and you have many options to learn ,campuses ,social activities ,sports to make you engaged and fruitful.
The University is beautiful - for an urban campus, there is no lack of green space. It mixes a grand landscape with plenty of walkability, open and green spaces and fast movement between lectures. There is never a shortage of study space - I can always find somewhere to study or work. The University of Birmingham, with its own railway station, is perfect for commuters with services back home every 30 minutes. The course I study is amazing, unique and one I didn't think I would be interested in until I started it. Birmingham as a city may have negative connotations, but the University is a shining star and a great example of when a university goes right. The lecturers at UoB are skilled in their fields and know what they are talking about. It is clear they are passionate about their subject. Overall, I have always wanted to go to UoB, and I find my reasons even more viable now that I am here.
Lovely place to stay! The staff are always kind and responsive, the rooms are modern and comfortable, and the location is very convenient for university life.
Excellent academics, diverse programs, and a focus on student success. Where learning is fun, friendships are made, and potential is unleashed. A school that truly prepares students for a bright and successful future.
Studying at the University of Birmingham has been such a great experience! The campus is beautiful, the lecturers are supportive, and there are so many opportunities to grow academically and personally. Truly an amazing place!
