Great! Enjoying the university so far, I have struggled but the University has helped me realise my diagnosis.
The campus is nice and pretty easy to get too and although because of COVID we haven’t had the full experience of on campus lessons, I’ve had a good experience when being there. We’ve not been told much about society’s and clubs due to Covid and things not being able to happen, and I’ve never had much experience with the students union
Good uni so far, very pleased.
This is a great uni and I highly recommend
Love the university it has a very strong community feel
Do not apply to this University. It has very low standards. The staff are racists, sexists and lack ethics.
I cannot praise this university enough. I love this place to absolute pieces and cannot wait to be back in second year. The library is huge and has plenty of rooms to book for group work, it also has Schloar's Rest which you can see just above the entrance to where Santander is located. The Student shop is incredible- I swear I got a hot chocolate and muffin from there every day. All the staff are lovely and friendly. The campus in general is amazing.
Very good University, I study social science and this department is very well organised and the teaching staff are excellent
The university has a beautiful campus with lots of great buildings, it is a nice small univeristy which is great for people who don't like lots if busy places. There are plenty of places to eat and drink but as expected of a campus the prices could be lower. The students union is a great way to get involved with things such as clubs and societies and has everything you could need to get you started.
I absolutely love the university, I have had no problems after the second year and I believe this university could easily rise the rankings with a very strong set of teaching staff and high quality facilities
Covid-19:
The campus has a range of food courts and something for everyone it can be busy but I guess that is to be expected. There is a club from everyone so if your first year I would deffo recommend signing up to one. It’s a great way to get to know people
okay uni, the shop is heavily over priced
Good university. Was my first choice and lived up to what I expected.
Pretty bog standard university, offer all you need and the library is huge, in the centre of the university and mainly populated with students. The wellbeing service could be improved with a lack of support for those with servere anxiety as you HAVE to go directly to them in the middle of the foyer to sign up, I personally found it not supportive enough.
The UNI is good, Storthes hall should not be the recommended accommodation tho.
Incompetent lecturers. Students don't get good results here
Low standards of Tutors and Lecturers.
Very low standards and very bad Professors and Lecturers. There is a lot of bullying at this university. Find another university.
The worst University. How can this even be rated as a University? No ethics, bullying, sexist, very low level of teaching, the Professors just bully, the Tutors don't know their subject, the administration is lying. Don't go here, choose another university.
Not the best University to be honest, strange mix of old and new facilities, situated in the centre of Huddersfield which is a pain for parking and poor transport links to and from the campus. Huddersfield is a dump and there is barely anything for young people to do here! I’ve been studying Air Transport and Logistics Management for 3 years and it has been the most unorganised course I have ever been on! It leaves you thinking what your £27000+ has actually been spent on... The careers service and placement services are completely useless, you are basically left to your own devices. Student Union seems out of touch with most students. Would not recommend!
Uni is good accommodation is w***
Overall it's a good university with a great SU who listen to the students.
The only downside is that the wifi is ocassionally not working for everyone and that the careers people do not take account the artistic jobs but focus on the general field
When I ended my BA in Communication Design I followed the suggestion of some mentors who explained to me how it is important to speak an international language today. I felt complete with my Bacher of Art, but I saw this opportunity to study abroad, that helped me in a massive way for every aspect of my life, personal and professional. After two years in Huddersfield, I can say that it is a great place to study and to have a balanced life. The University has got impressive buildings, personnel is engaging and prepared to teach your chosen subjects. I had the opportunity to learn new disciplines. I really believe that this is a valuable experience for everyone.
excellent except small and not much green
Great university should recommend better accomodation though
Worst experience with education in my life. No one cares about learning. Multiple lecturers barely speak English. Department heads are just a bunch of yes men. Independent learning is used as a copout and you basically have to teach yourself the units. Part time students are treated like second class citizens. Part time courses are split into multiple days so good luck finding a job that lets you prioritise university. My advice, study anywhere else.
Overall very lively, but wouldn't chill around the University once my lessons are done for the day.
My first year at this uni has been great couldn’t fault it
Great great great great great hreat great hreat
Brilliant university, with tutors pretty good except for those who come as a guest for maybe a module. And it also helps that I like Huddersfield as a town and place to just go and chill, much better than Manchester.
The student union could do with been improved more space to hang out in the actual SU etc
hands down the beat university i looked at when choosing
Huddersfield is the intellectual graveyard of the UK. Brexiteers everywhere
A great university to go to and learn at. The social events from the societies and the union are great.
Worst uni going, tutors couldn’t care less. Micky mouse degrees are all they do there. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else unless you want to be in crippling debt for the next 30 years
The university itself has brilliant facilities, the library has various floors with many computers and laptops to use, they have private study rooms which book up incredibly fast, so many that’s something to think about in the future. The SU has so many different food stations and the SU Shop, the food stations could be open for longer if possible as they only seem to be open for breakfast and lunch, and when you’re in the library all day working on an essay it’s handy just to nip out to the food stations and grab some food then go back to work, instead of settling for a sandwich from the shop or having to go into Huddersfield town for your evening meal. I never joined any clubs or societies, but I did use the onsite gym- they had some amazing classes available and the gym was fully equipped with all the standard machines and equipment you’d expect and membership was incredibly affordable. The uni also has a careers fund to help you fund your next steps into working life.
I’ve just completed a BAhons in Drama at the “UoH” and it’s safe to say it has been the best experience of my life. The facilities are brilliant, the Drama building has 3 studios, 2 rehearsal room and much more I can’t fit into this review. All of which students can book to use pretty much every day of the week outside of classes. In terms of performance techniques there is so much on offer at UoH, there is something for everyone from acting, to magic, to physical theatre and then some! The tutors at UoH are fantastic, nothing is too much, they give constant feedback via brightspace and in person during classes. They set up essay skills drop in sessions. They help you to better your skills at every turn in your degree. The one thing I would change about Drama, is having a proper lecture theatre, taking lectures in the studios on the audience seating made taking note difficult as there were no tables, lap rests were available but not exactly the best alternative.
Had a fantastic time at UoH, a great course with lovely people
University of Huddersfield has a lot to offer to it's students, SU has a large contribution and their advice centre is very helpful being full with very nice people who encourage you and help you find the best solution. The wellbeing centre is always a good solution if you are struggling.
Staff seemed overwhelmed by the high number of students. The university isn't equipped for large numbers
Great campus and facilities and it keeps growing every year. Haven't tried the careers service yet but it seems to be good, wi fi is good and the offer of societies is great too. However, teaching could be improved.
Just happy to take your money. Not concerned with the quality of teaching or its place in today's world of work.
I've had a fantastic experience here! great people, great staff, loads of help where its needed. Only let down is it's accessibility for disabled students isn't quite up to scratch.
Amazing facilities. Good teaching. Great vibe. Huddersfield is a student town and Hudds Uni is considered as one of the best universities in Yorkshire. It's a fairly big university and each year, they build a new modern building with great facilities. I am a final year next year and so far, it's been great.
awful supply of teaching, we had one teacher throughout all three years of the course
Absolutely incredible university, puts students and their needs first.
pretty good all around, plus there is continuous development to the campus
Loved my time at the university. Their BSc psychology degree is amazing and the staff are so brilliant and supportive. Can’t wait to come back in September for the MSc
Love being a student at Huddersfield. Loaaaads of societies, sports and events. Wish the student union was a bit bigger BUT we are a smaller Uni.
The teacher is nice and inspring.
Excellent experience supper friendly and helpful environment. Kinda like a family
Really enjoyed the first year.
I'm in the contemporary art course and it's so far been a bag of b****. No support. Tutors treat you like nothing unless your a feminist. If you can go somewhere else.
This uni has amazing services for wellbeing, mental health, academic skills and provides help for people with disabilities - including a religion centre where people of all sorts of different religions can pray. I felt at home when I started at this university and it just wasn’t like the others I’d visited. Everything is so well-run and put together. The only criticism I have is faults with my course but that doesn’t reflect on the whole uni. The uni as a whole is amazing .
Really good uni good atmosphere good social scene and really good teaching staff especially on applied science degrees such as Biochemistry.
Brilliant place to look for further education, everyone are friendly and helpful your not on your own with your education, lecturers and tutors are always welcoming
I found the university was more dedicated to marketing to prospective students rather than the quality of teaching and support itself. Money is thrown on how it appears to international students to entice them; however, does not deliver once students are signed up
I did a literature and creative writing degree and it was the best choice in the best place.
Gantastic uni. Great vibes. The drama dept is great because its unique
Overall experience has feels like high school, the only reason I got through my course was my determination and my friends studying with me.
The university caters for every need, it has amazing facilities for all courses with many different social aspects to gain great experiences out of.
I suffer from mental health issues and dyslexia, the only way I can describe their reaction to this is phenomenal. I did not immediately tell the university of my difficulties, but as soon as I did, they were behind me 100% and made sure I had everything I needed to ensure I was okay.
Love the place, Huddersfield’s a mad place. Some weird s*** goes on here.
Good lecturers good facilities, terrible student union
Very good uni, loved my time here. Some things could be improved.
Peaceful place to study, great campus. A lot of international events. Great teaching stuff.
Campus is all in one place right by the centre of town, library has lots of computers and table space, the student union has a range of food facilities and tables, always a busy atmosphere
Absolutely loved first year! Wasn’t good with meeting new people or socialising with people I didn’t know before uni and that made me stay at the sixth form attached to my high school. Coming to hudd (even though I live in Dewsbury) has changed my life so much. Met the most amazing people and had so much fun at uni x
Honestly an amazing and life changing experience, amazing student life too
all round perfect university. Tutors are very supportive and help you strive for the best. Facilities are amazing, very clean campus and easy to get around.
Huddersfield has made me feel SO at home and every member of staff is just so lovely!! 100% recommend
The best experience of my life! It’s been a year since I graduated and I’d do anything to go back!
Great uni, had a great 3 years here. Very modern and up to date technology and facilities. Wonderful helpful staff also! Very easy to navigate
Great uni very modern and wonderful teaching staff and very helpful
Amazing teaching university and huge library facilities. Great restaurants and social places if a student prefers town life rather than big city lifem there is the option of both since it is a huge town.
Huddersfield university is a fantastic university that really requires you to make the most of it, it offers chances to reach the highs you expect from an academic establishment.
Transferred to Huddersfield, best decision of my life, the tutors were impeccable! Free Masters and PHD if you get a 1st... so why not...
Loved the past three years at this university. The library is perfect to get university work done ans where I spent most of my time. Never tried the clubs and societies but plenty of choices and careers have been helpful in telling me how to plan my next moves
I love my university and enjoy every aspect of it
Excellent experience, extremely great staff who will go above and beyond to help you in all matters of uni life
Whilst on campus I always feel 100% comfortable. Student union is always creating events and providing the students with fun activities and what they need, especially in exam time. I wouldn’t want to be at any other university!
This is the worst university with very low research quality, only thing that helps them rank up is to keep building new n new buildings
industry standard facilities for my course, teaching is of acceptable quality however a couple of my lecturers seem to be a little unsure about some concepts in any greater detail that they're expected to teach. Generally a great university experience though and good course quality overall.
A welcoming and friendly university. The SU somewhat lacks organisation though.
It’s a good uni in general, nice location and good classes. (Chemistry)
I'm a software engineering student and I love it. All of the lectures are well experienced and easy to work with. Campus offers everything I need to learn the tricks of the trade. Night life could be better but it's enough for the 1 night out per month kind of person. Haven't had any problems with my internet connection so far. I'm starting my last year here and I can say I love the overall experience that this in provides.
Decent University, small city / town
Absolutely amazing place I’ve loved studying there
Equipment and teaching for computing practices are obsolete compared to other universities.
Fantastic facilities amd teaching staff, however a sub standard Students Union run for the self interests of its left wing officers
Vibey, small though, very woke! Sometimes lit.
Great, modern facility is and campus. Staff are great and helpful. Love my course
The campus itself and equipment, I can’t complain about. I like the practice rooms, although they weren’t exactly soundproof. The societies I joined were one of the best things about uni.
The campus itself and equipment are great. However, my three years at university were disappointing and I feel like I’ve wasted my time there. In my first year, within the first few lessons with my piano teacher, she told me maybe I should do something that isn’t music. I wanted to learn how to be a songwriter but I didn’t learn that. I wanted to learn more about the tech side of music but was told not to bother, if I just want to write lyrics. Then when it came to doing my EP for my Individual Project, I was so far behind and my teacher(s) called me mediocre on two separate occasions. I travel for about 2 hours to get to uni and I never felt like it was worth it. None of the lessons were of any use to me. This experience has put me in therapy and in debt. I have a lot to say, not enough room. Angry and disappointed in uni. I wasn’t even awarded the right award/degree.
The university has a very friendly and welcoming environment with amazing staff member. The international societies along with events hosted by the students union majorly helps in overcoming homesickness and making new friends.
No lecture theatres for business school, student union unwelcoming societies are literally bare minimum and facilities are awful considering no lecture theatres for business school
Its a good Univeristy, needs a higher ranking. Enjoying my time from the last year and plan to study for next 4-5 years in the same uni. All thanks to the environment provided by Uni.
Great university and facilities! Great student union and societies! Loved my time there! (WiFi needs to improve as on occasion it went down when assignments were due and sometimes couldn't connect on my phone.)
Such a great university. All the buildings have everything you could need so you never have to walk far for a snack, drink, toilet. The staff are all incredibly sweet and dedicated to what they teach. I’ve never know people to be so kind and helpful and to selflessly offer up their free time to ensure their students progress! There’s also a variety of clubs and societies to join which makes making friends with other people on different courses a lot easier. Such a great university, no complaints!
