All the teachers are very passive aggressive to me. Everytime I contacted them I got no response back. There is little support for people with mental health conditions. This has been a horrible year for me!!
No books in library. Disorganised. Tutors wanedt different standards for tthe same asessment. Not disability or special needs friendly. Conflicting advice. Out of date material.. Lectures sound like from the 70s, not changed in yeaars.
My review concerns the School of Environment and Technology, and not the university. I think that this is fair. So, i was studying Civil Engineering and the selection of this School was the worst mistake in my life. Quality Teaching? This is a joke. Lectures was just an obligation for most Lecturers, just to earn some money. They dont care if you learn or not? Support? Another joke. No one cares if you face problems, if you die or you live. Career Services? Even in the School they dont value the degrees that they give, how do you expect that employers will? Also, no support in your career. THEY DONT CARE. It is that simple. Students, do the best for yourselves and select another University. Parents dont trust the future of your children, their welfare to these people.
The problem here is not the facilities but the people. Of course, career services are not good.
I have been student in the School of Environment and Technology . It was really a traumatic experience. I do not recommend to anyone this place. It is not well organized, the staff and the Lecturers are not interested about you and your progress, If you face a problem no one will support you, you dont know who to approach and of course if you decide to speak to the Head of school about your problems she will not accept you. Guys dont waste your money at this place, dont waste your time and dont waste your future. If you have an opportunity select another University. I have graduated from this University and it is like i give bad review to myself, but i think that i had to give my sincere review and the same advice that i would give to my best friend, to my brother etc. So if you can avoid this place.
Had looked forward to Uni life, living with the coast so near, a big bonus and a job in my ideal career beckoned. However, after 3years of a negative experience and all that money spent AND not graduating...i was surprised how openly racist or sexist a my lecturers were. Uni should be a positive experience, but the racism i suffered, left me with an awful experience. Sooo glad i quit....and never looked back. Wish i'd skipped uni and worked instead or travelled...
Brighton is sick, UBRFC is sicker.
My time at this university was short (only a year) but, during the PGCE, staff were consistently passive-aggressive and unhelpful. They would read off powerpoints and give inconsistent subject delivery. For example, we were given a lecture on behaviour management in schools TWO MONTHS after we started our classroom placements! Alumni support is even worse. Staff are rude and seem patently committed to giving one word answers and refusing to give you the information you need.
I was extremely excited to be part of Brigthon university, everything was going well through the application proccess. They were very organised and kept me informed for everything except for the most important thing. They did have no enough people to run my Master and just let me know two weeks before starting the course. By that time I had already enrolled online, had my loan accepted, my place confirmed for the international week plus I had already quit my job (a job I liked) . As a mature student it was big effort to prepare myself financially and professionally to be able to study full time. They have no idea how this late notice have affected myself in many different ways, specially emotionally. I have to say that the head of the school of arts apologised for this in many ocasions and spent a considerable time with me trying to find a solution. Unfortunately is too late so I have to wait a year and find a new job. I think they should look at this for the future.
I love Brighton Uni. being an international student, I imagined it being tough but my lecturers and supervisors made it very easy for me. Looking forward to coming back for my PHD.
It's a really awful university. There are spelling mistakes in almost all presentations, frequently no mark schemes, inconsistent marking, very little feedback, boring lectures and sometimes tutors don't even turn up to tutorials. The facilities are very poor, there aren't enough computers for everyone and even when you do get one they're grubby and don't seem like they're ever cleaned. There aren't a great deal of societies here and the social isn't that great because 50% of people have to go into private letting rather than dorms (they have a shortage apparently). I'm doing a computer science degree and overall its just a total mess. I hear it's good for art but if you're doing anything technical definitely do not come here - it's 89/100 on this website for a good reason.
I'm a student in the school of Phamaceutical and Biomolecualr Sciences student studying at Moulsecoomb campus. I don't really get on with a lot of the people here as I'm very nerdy - there is more of a party vibe, however I have met some wonderful people on other courses. My lecturers are AMAZING and having such a small cohort means loads of contact time and I am able to make any changes I want to see in the course, which has given me a much more fulfilling experience (in addition to giving me lots to write on my CV). Facilities are great and we get a lot of lab time, so have excellent employment prospects.
I love it here everyone's so friendly and welcoming
New student, but everything is amazing so far!
My experience at Brighton has been fantastic, supportive staff and atmosphere, facilities for everything I could possibly need on my course.
It is a perfect place to study modern campus
I absoultely love attending university in Brighton. The uni has amazing facilities and the staff are extremely knowledgeable in thier subject fields. The uni has many amazing societies from Football, Rugby, Trampolining, Archery and even a beard society! All are active and I have met some of my best friends in these societies. Brighton as a city is stunning. It is very student orientated and the beach/lanes are amazing to keep you busy on the weekends! I would recomend this uni to anyone. I wish i could start all over again.
Friendly, clean place to be. Good facilities with plenty of campuses. Offers a lot of extra-curricular activities.
Amazing, they are so welcoming and made moving to uni easier.
I really enjoy going to university here, the facilities are really good and I'm enjoying the content. The only negative side to being at this university is that everything is on a hill!
Real well organized university, lots of events host by student union, tutors are super friendly
Great place to study easy to get around
New to the area but everyone is so friendly and willing to show you around!
Place would be perfect if it offered uncatered halls and had an athletics track
Brighton is hilariously (or not!) spending money on the wrong sectors. The libraries only have 2 staff members, and 50 (if that) computers. Books are hard to come by as most only have 2 copies so you might as well try the public library. unlike other uni's lecturers will charge you for in class handouts and will ignore you out of hours. They are also given up to 4 working weeks to reply to emails! (Which is the only way to book appointments!!!) my suggestion is to stay away as the only good things are the societies on offer which all other unis have too.
I have had the best first year at Brighton Uni. It's a shame I couldn't rate the teachers as it would have definitely been a 5!
great uni has everything you need and everyone is so alright to talk to
Great place to learn with lovely people
Not getting into halls and living in a house with 6 girls has made socialising an absolute minimum whilst at uni.
Outside of the social aspect (Which can be done independent of the uni completely). This University is terrible, the pass rate is abysmal. Staff are un-careing and useless. Many will just read off of the lecture slides and give you no extra information, reducing lectures useless as they are provided online. Other lecturers are clearly at the university soley for the research positions. Being a lecturer seems to be an incovenience for multiple staff members and many will NOT even see you DURING their office hours.Staff are given FOUR weeks to reply to email queries as standard by he uni admins so if you have any queries about any work, you will be screwed. There are also load of additional charges. You dont get any credit for printing when you start. The Library is also very under financed and there are not enough computers and many books will need to be ordered online as they are not avalible in the Library Recomendation: Avoid this place! I transfered out and havent looked back.
music
Good lectures with great access to studios
Cons?
Needs more funding from the college!!
