The MSc in Information Systems and Business Analysis is not a comfortable degree, and that’s exactly the point. The CESIM simulation, the IS Implementation module, the relentless pushback from faculty who treat you as a professional in training rather than a student to be managed — none of it lets you coast. By the time I was researching ERP systems for a real county council, I wasn’t guessing. I was applying. Aston gave me a framework for thinking, not a template. There’s a difference. And Aston understands it. 5/5. Not because everything was perfect. But because it was worth every version of hard.

There’s been a lot to get involved in and the staff are quite friendly. Sometimes the students can be hostile but that might just be a me thing.

I have joined an MSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence course at Aston University and I am enjoying it so far. The course has been structured efficiently, touching on important topics such as machine learning, data analysis, and artificial intelligence with more emphasis placed on the applicability of concepts learned. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and have created a conducive environment where learners can interact actively by engaging in assignments and projects. It is impressive how well the institution has balanced theoretical and practical knowledge for effective learning. Aston University is situated within the central business district of Birmingham, which is advantageous in terms of mobility and accessibility to various amenities. The school provides up-to-date learning facilities for the learners. For these reasons, I highly recommend Aston University to other learners anyone interested in data science and AI due to its supportive.

Aston University has been a great place to start my academic journey, especially as an international student. The campus is modern, compact, and located right in the heart of Birmingham, which makes everything easily accessible—whether it’s classes, accommodation, or the city centre. The university is particularly strong in employability and career focus. Courses are designed with practical skills in mind, and there’s a clear emphasis on preparing students for the job market. The placement year option is a huge plus, especially for students who want real-world experience before graduating. The teaching quality is generally good, with supportive lecturers who are approachable and willing to help. Facilities like the library and study spaces are well-equipped, although they can get quite busy during peak times. On the social side, there are plenty of societies and events to get involved in, though the campus itself can feel a bit quiet compared to larger universities.
I really appreciate the careers support, they’ve given me support for interviews and even practice interviews for things such as a placement preparations and they actually care, instead of rushing through
Studying at Aston University has been a good experience overall. The campus is nice and everything is close by since it’s in the city centre. Lecturers are helpful and the course is quite practical, which I like. Sometimes admin stuff can be a bit slow, but nothing too bad. You also meet people from all over the world, which is a big plus. Overall, a good university vibe.

I’m currently studying MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Aston University. One thing I like about the course is that it balances theory with practical work. We cover topics like machine learning, data analysis, and statistical methods, and we also get opportunities to apply what we learn using real datasets and programming tools. The lecturers are knowledgeable and supportive, and the course encourages problem solving and independent thinking, which is really important in a field like AI. The campus itself is compact and easy to navigate, and being located in Birmingham city centre means there are lots of opportunities for students, both academically and socially. Overall, it’s been a positive experience so far. I’d recommend Aston to students who are interested in developing skills in AI and data science while studying in a diverse and lively student city.

Aston University is a welcoming and vibrant campus. It has many activities to take part in. The campus is relatively easy to learn to navigate as it is located in one area.

This is my second year here and I will be rebooking for a 3rd. There are many things I love about compass such as the new staff, management, the events have been exceptional since HFS has taken over. It’s been helping the community spirit and it’s something I’ve never seen here before. I use the private facilities often such as the private dining room and the study. I love my studio, maintenance is fast and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting luxury studio at a reasonable price. I go to Aston which is a 10 minute walk so if you want somewhere close, this helps.

As an international student, I’d say studying at Aston gives you a very solid experience: good facilities, modern campus, central city location, and a strong support system. If I were to summarise: you’ll find the tools and environment to succeed but your personal outcome will depend on how much you take advantage of them. If you are motivated to study hard, connect with peers, use the support and engage in campus life, you’ll likely come away with not only a degree but meaningful experiences and good preparation for your career.
I love the clubs especially cheerleading of which I am a part of. Also the career and placement team is also instrumental and I love that we can always go to them to talk and engage them about the right choices to make.
Aston University, especially for my course, Business and Management, is one of the best places in the Midlands to study this subject. This is because of the service available to you, such as Aston Futures and the learning development centre, as well as the teaching experience, as teachers have come from previous experiences related to the module itself

During my time at university, I became the president of the Nepali Society (Nepsoc) with the goal of creating a stronger and more inclusive community for Nepalese students. At first, it was challenging to balance my leadership responsibilities with my law studies, and I often doubted whether I could manage it all. But as I began organising cultural events, supporting new students, and helping those who faced language barriers, I grew more confident in my abilities. By the end of the year, the society had become more active and united than ever, and I had developed leadership and communication skills that deeply shaped my university journey.

The cost of living and tuition fees can be a significant financial burden. Additionally, the bureaucratic processes and administrative inefficiencies can be frustrating at times. Overall, my time at university has been a period of personal and intellectual growth.

The campus and the ambience are beautiful and they have got many study spaces to let us focus on studying. The "silent room" for the students undertaking PG gives a different level of motivation!
So far Campus has had good facilities and lots of space. One issue is the chairs are sometimes not clean and lifts can be too full at times. The Students Union provide a wide range of excellent opportunities and societies to join. Careers Services are easy to contact. The internet is usually good and reliable but WiFi was extremely difficult to connect to initially and can sometimes be unreliable in some lecture theatres. Perhaps a tutorial for how to connect for new students could be useful?
I am an international student at Aston University doing Msc Biotechnology and I have a great experience here,the people,staff and teachers are supportive and nice.
As a current student at Aston University, I’ve really enjoyed the campus experience. Everything is in one place, so it’s easy to get around and meet people. The library is a great study space — open late with different zones for quiet or group work. The labs and facilities are modern, especially the specialist ones like the VR suite and the health clinics, which make studying feel more practical. The sports centre is well-equipped, and the swimming pool is a nice bonus. The campus can feel a bit compact, but being right in the centre of Birmingham makes up for it, with plenty to do just outside.
All round decent. The lectures are good and consistent. Learning is provided really well both in person and at home with plenty of support and communication.
Overall a good university to study at as it has a wide range of courses that’s fit for everyone. It’s close to city centre so it’s quick and easy locate

I have only started last week, but from what I have seen, all of the staff are very welcoming and appear easy to talk to about queries. It makes me feel reassured that my studies here will be in good hands.

Club activities aren't so visible nor SU activities which remains only Aston burry. There's more potential to do. The canteens although outsourced could be cheaper.
