I was really excited to be allocated to sallies, and I have absolutely loved my first semester here. Because of catered meals and events, it is so easy to make friends in the hall! The vast majority of freshers are in shared rooms, and while some double rooms are huge, there are some that are very very cramped, so bear that in mind! The location of sallies is amazing: it’s so close to east sands & all the arts buildings. I adore sallies so much, and everyone I talk to does as well. We’re all so happy here. The common room is gorgeous & the study room is really good too. I love love it so much!

Value for money? No hall, except perhaps self catereds in Gannochy, is well priced. Accommodation is pricy in St Andrews. Sallies has a fab location, 2mins walk to Buchanan lecture theatre for all Arts students, 20mins to science, bit of a drag but still, good location Wardens in halls are a pain, stuck up PHD students who had a serious power complex, main reason I'm moving to private accommodation for 2nd year. Food is fine, social spaces are good, and you make a lot of friends in halls. Sallies committee was fab, lots of nice events, just a shame they didn't plan our end of year ball.
Sallies is fantastic. A classic oxbridge college style environment. 2 min walk from the library, 30 seconds from Younger Hall and The Quad. Dining hall is beautiful. Very social. All the rooms are regularly cleaned, as are the bathrooms. Only disadvantage is that like 99% of first years share rooms. Single rooms are prioritised for returners.
A fairly average halls. Quite outdated, odd smell too. Most students were highly anti-social, luckily I knew people in other halls to mix with. The location was good, not too far from all your amenities.

Amazing hall spirit, numerous exciting social activities, lovely location and amazing views from rooms - both to the sea and the front lawn. Rooms in great condition and very cosy.
Gorgeous hall in the middle of town, close to Buchanan, Swallowgate, Irvine, and many more. Five minutes walk to the library, which is truly ideal in exam/revision period. WiFi connection and heating could be better. Very friendly wardens and staff, and great communal spaces.

A beautiful and loving place to live. Eduroam (the wifi) is terrible, though, but that's a common theme throughout St Andrews. Management and the wardens can also be a little pickey and strange about common spaces and study spaces.

Sallies is definitely the best hall the University has to offer; even though it is old, it has an amazing location and traditions associated within its walls.
