I don't get the whole 'unsocial' thing on the previous review? Most of my house hung out in the kitchen, but you can choose to be anti-social in your room if you like. The kitchen it very spacious and everyone gets 2 cupboards and a drawer, so there are no fights. Good dining table for pre-drinks. It is a shame there's no questionnaire for housemates, but out of 11 other people, there's bound to be some good ones. The living room was relatively useless, but I used it once to watch a film with a projector which was good. The shared bathroom was no biggie, shower was hot, pressure is okay. Nice big bedroom too, and you can dim the lights. It's right next to campus which is good. Cleaner's for some reason rarely cleaned the bathrooms, I didn't really understand that. Fastest internet on campus by the way. I'd stay there again.
Covid-19: Luckily they gave the option to cancel your contract, however, if like me you were unable to leave and then unable to pay (due to you and your family having no jobs) then they were abysmal, and didn't seem to understand that it wasn't my choice to be there, and that I was no longer (legally) allowed to leave and they were not allowed to evict me if I couldn't pay. Also, the staff didn't seem to understand when I had a sign outside my house door saying (household members only, I can clean the house myself). The cleaners being essential? Hell no.

Department of George Elliot halls didn't help at any cost due to which we had to face so many problems.

The introverts dream - if you're the kind of person that will likely stay in their room a lot and keep to themselves, you will love these halls. However, if you plan on being social you'll probably not enjoy these halls. Since everyone is split up into 4s and sectioned on each floor, it's very isolating. I was worst off as out of the 12 people in the flat, the two missing people - one girl who dropped out and a second international who barely interacted with us and was never there in general - were on my floor, meaning my floor was a ghost town by the end of the year as it was just me and my mate. The uni experience of knocking on someones door to hang out or running into people and just hanging out as a flat is just not here - i've noticed a lot of people complain about how their flat wasn't really a close unit. A huge issue I have is with the cleanliness of the kitchen. One bin between 12 people isnt enough!

Allocation to halls is random. They will not put students in quiets halls. Hall Life is not very helpful at sorting out disputes. Bullying is rife. Cleaning is not thorough. Very expensive but best on campus.

I love George Eliot, I'm going to miss it next year. The kitchen is modern and the bedroom are double with lots of storage. The bathroom is shared with one other person and is cleaned weekly. The staff at the hall reception are also very friendly.
