Transom House was not my first choice of accommodation when I came to Bristol but I had such a great time here. The accomodation is so close to the city centre and all the shops, bars and nightlife. The only downside is there is no common room or social space so I had to mark it down. The rooms are huge with plenty of space in the kitchen for mixing with your room mates. I didn't have an en-suite room as there are not may in the building but it really wasn't an issue. I loved my time at Transom and would love too stay on for my 2nd year but I'm not allowed so have to go in to private this year. Oh and Keith is fab. Really happy and always willing to help.
It’s the worst place a student can stay in, the only good thing is the location of the place and the staff is friendly, other than that everything is bad. 1- They will not let you know that there is no elevator in the building until you sign the contract so if you are on the fourth floor good luck 2- If there is something broken you need to ask them a thousand times until they fix it 3- the shared places get cleaned once a month and if you clean it by yourself it would be better. 4- Each flat has 4 rooms sharing one shower room and 2 restrooms so you are going to have one shower for four students just imagine that!! 5- there are two watching machines and two dryers on the building for around 150 students and you will need to pay around 6£ each time to use them 6- Students can’t do anything in their flats after 11 PM or the security is going to come to the flat. 7- and there is only one fridge for 5 people in each flat so each student will have half a row to put the food in 🙂
4th floor is significantly smaller than the lower floors despite paying the same amount. Management is awful. Furniture in your room will likely be broken upon moving in.
AWFUL DO NOT GO HERE. Management are shocking. Oh very priced. Drugs is a real problem. Only positive is you’re in the centre

Only positive aspects are location and room size other than that I suggest YOU DO NOT APPLY! Honestly, management are a disgrace and unhelpful if you have issues with your flatmates or flat in general, security is a joke with many security guards not even doing their job properly and being inappropriate, building NOT secure, flat and room doors dodgy and easily opened by anyones keycard, constantly have unannounced maintenance work and inappropriate maintenance men coming into your flat, building is an eyesore with so much damage to the inside, stains on the carpets, poorly patched up walls and doors from being kicked in etc, old appliances that blow up and catch fire. In general, just a drug den, please do not apply.
Transom House is located a few minutes away from Temple Meads station and the main bus station, allowing for easy access to public transport. The location is the only positive thing I've found with this place. Management changed and as such so did the standards. My roommates break almost every one of the lease terms and face no consequences so I am stuck living in a garbage landfill for a whole year. The management caused me to get locked out of a flat with my uniform in causing me to lose a day of work and then refused to pay the damages. There is consistently unannounced work going on causing power cuts, power surges, noise, etc. The security here have had to be changed almost 3 times now because they keep needing to be fired. One was asleep while tenants were stopping a break in. Basically, Transom House is no longer what it was in previous years. Pick somewhere else and you will be much happier.
Transom House is in a wonderful location, a mere ten minute walk from both shopping centres and the city centre itself. It has many convenient shops located on its street, and is within walking distance to many social activities for drinkers and non-drinkers alike. Due to the student:staff ratio, note that it isn't always the cleanest building - particularly around the back where the bins are. There is also round the clock security (three wonderful fellows that are very helpful) which, depending on your stance and activities, can be a blessing or a curse and should be noted to help make this decision.
The accommodation is very over priced
Smells like lemon bleach. Dark and dingy. Not the most social of places. Homeless men slept in corridors often. Lots of drugs. Great location tho...
Quite expensive but the location makes it worth it, being so close to the city centre was a real plus for me. Room was a decent size but the price I was paying you would expect it to be ensuite.
TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR ROOM BEFORE YOU MOVE IN the place is flimsy so remember to take pictures before you move so they don't try to charge for these damages before you move out. Staff are nice when they are there a lot of the times they are not, you usually have to phone the number downstairs if you want to collect a parcel. Rooms are spacious and is close to Marketgate if you do not want to live there but still want the same social experience also not as detrimental to your mental health marketgate.
Transom is the cheapest accommodation so don't expect the Ritz, but it is close to the centre and the rooms are well sized
P R O S: expensive but really spacious compared to other more expensive halls. 3-bed flat has 2 toilets. convenient location near city centre. st nicholas market, tesco express, uwe city campus (arnolfini, spike island, bower ashton), temple meads station all nearby. lovely receptionist joana. microwave, kettle, toaster, hoover all available. cleaning once a fortnight. C O N S: unite students management was slow with tenancy agreement, lots of issues when applying. limited bike storage (you can lock your bike outside). no lift. no social spaces other than reception and laundry room. washer £3.00, dryer £1.50, you'll have to use them via circuit laundry app which is a NIGHTMARE. could hear if people having flat parties.

Really friendly people both staff and students. Great city centre location, near to the train station. There's no common room which isn't an issue.
