For being one of the cheapest accoms it's really good. I'm booking it again for my second year.
Benedicts gate is a perfect place to live in. Close to city center, NUA and the location is great! Really recommend this place as the staff are also very friendly!
benedict's gate is a good place to live overall, the city centre and university itself only 10 minutes away and easy to get to with just one road to follow, also have plenty of shops near with Tesco and coop down the road. The staff are friendly and security is okay. the building itself is nice, the social spaces are quite small. Rooms are a good size and kitchens are fully equipped. benedict's doesnt really care about visitors you can have them as often as you want. But everywhere has downsides, benedict's houses under 18s so you could be living with 16/17year olds. Maintenance is temperamental in my opinion, showers block easily and occasionally run out of water, sinks also run out of cold water often. You cannot smoke in the courtyard past 11pm so you have to smoke in the car park which can be sketchy with homeless people. all the rooms are the same size but you pay more just to be a higher floor which is a bit of a scam, otherwise its okay and a nice place to live for first year.

It’s very very loud here and the windows are loose so you can hear everyone outside. There’s a very fast turnover of security guards so most of them don’t know what they’re doing. When I moved in parts of my studio didn’t work so i couldn’t cook for 2 weeks. It’s absolutely boiling at all times because there is no air con and you can’t open the windows. Wifi constantly disconnects. If you’re on the bottom floor you can pretty much hear everytime someone flushes. There’s a “cafe” which is 2 vending machines. The study area is attached to the lounge so quiet study is basically not possible, there’s also only 1 lounge so it gets commandeered and not really shared. The rooms are absolutely tiny for the price. Studio kitchens have no storage space and the freezer is big enough for a bag of peas, you have no access to an oven so have to learn to cook with a microwave and hob. The toilets struggle to flush.
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on Benedict's Gate. We’re sorry to hear that you don’t feel your experience at Benedict’s Gate has been as great as we’d have hoped. All of our windows are triple glazed, which means most noise pollution should be eliminated. It sounds like we need to take a look at your window as it should not be loose, we’re happy to do this at any time during office hours, just visit us at Reception or give us a call on 01603 516420. The management team will always be available to help address and resolve any of your concerns. We appreciate your feedback with regards to our security team and we fully agree that the service delivered by the third party Security provider has so far been less than satisfactory. The good news is that we have ended our contract with this provider and we are now proud to announce a new working relationship with a company named Chroda who have assured us that there will be significant improvements to the service going forward. Our two most experienced Security guards along with a new member of the team will now be available out of office hours to help you with anything you need. We regularly receive positive feedback concerning these staff members and are pleased that they are now permanent members of the team. Air conditioning is rarely found within the individual rooms of any rental property in the UK. With its mild climate the UK is a country of radiators, not air conditioning and only around 0.5% of properties here are installed with air conditioning units. Although there is no air conditioning within the apartments your windows should be able to open to let the breeze in, if any are locked please make us aware and we will unlock these for you right away. Additionally, we are more than happy to lend you a fan if necessary. Our Studios feature at least 2 kitchen cupboards and a drawer. The fridge freezer provided within a Studio is a standard size for a purpose built student accommodation and features a freezer compartment of around 11L. We also encourage students to bring their own appliances to make themselves feel more at home, including a mini freezer or air fryer. The microwave provided is a multifunctional combination microwave which serves as an oven as well as a grill. If you need assistance on how to use any item within your Studio or around the building please let us know and we’ll be happy to help. We value all feedback we receive and have recently brought up multiple adjustment/amendment ideas for our social spaces to our Head Office. Benedict's Gate is a great hall to live in! The location is perfect, the social spaces are really good (and big, which is great with distancing!) and the staff are almost all really kind and eager to help with any questions or concerns. I also know they've got lots of plans for when social events are able to take place again. One downside is that the internet plan limits how many devices I can use. My biggest concern is that the security staff here is... really bad. They're hostile, don't speak much English and just don't do their jobs- i've never seen them outside of sat in reception with their feet up on their phones, playing games or watching TV shows while ignoring genuine issues. At night when I've reported loud noises they've taken a long time to go and feebly attempt to stop the disruption that's usually over by the time they get there- and then they come into my flat to tell me they couldn't help!? I appreciate them wanting to tell me but it's 4am! Let me sleep :/

We've got some great social spaces including our large study area, comfy lounge complete with 75" TV and our complimentary pool table at Reception. We have also been running a variety of social events as government guidelines have been eased and we've definitely got more in store for September. We're sorry to hear that you've reached your limit of 5 devices, but you can add more! Our providers 'Ask 4' offer the option of increasing this count at a small cost for the entire academic year. To increase devices simply access your Ask 4 Account and select the plan that suits your needs. We would also like to apologise for the way our security members have acted in the past. We appreciate your feedback and realise that this is unacceptable. We have therefore chosen to hire a whole new team of Security Staff who will be available out of office hours to help you with anything you need. Everything is exactly how it was advertised on the website. Possibly the best location to live in Norwich, nothing is more than a short walk away. Staff are incredibly friendly and I'll definately be staying next year !

Even if there were some hiccups at the beginning of my stay at the accommodation the management managed to sort every issue and still provide a welcoming experience with online events to take part in even with restrictions in place. The location is absolutely amazing with amazing wifi and a lovely looking building.

Really enjoyed my time here, brilliant staff keep the place alive with fun social events and chats. The whole building looks/ feels lovely that you forget you're at the centre of the city. Only a couple minutes to NUA and the main city area. Strongly recommend if you are looking for a fun, relaxing place to stay whilst studying.

We love to host social events and we’re excited to start hosting more of them in person for September. We are still very new and sparkly and we have a cleaner on site every morning to help keep it that way. We are about a 10 minute walk away to NUA or the city centre so if you need to grab a snack, your weekly shop or a cuddly toy you can make a start in under 15 minutes! We do have some great places to relax at Benedict’s Gate. Our lounge area within our Social Space has large comfy seating, a coffee machine, vending machine, TV, PlayStation 4 and record player. We’ve even got a few classic board games too!
