I’m really enjoying Uni life on campus, everyone is friendly and helpful and I enjoy the course. There is a gym on campus and it’s amazing. I’ve joined a society and they have events on too which I’ll be attending in the future. So far so good.

Should be ranked higher honestly. I love the staff here, they're so nice. Things have been very difficult with Covid-19 but my course leader and academic advisors have been really supportive and caring. The campus is also really nice, it's open but feels really close and homely. Love the societies here. I've been a member of the Korean society for both of my years here and in first year when clubs were open the events were so fun. Everybody got involved, even people from the public were welcome, and the atmosphere was insane. Such a great time, although I don't know much about any other society here at this University. Preston is a bit hit or miss but in general it pretty much has everything you could want. I love the diversity here!
So far I enjoy the school. I just started during the pandemic so I haven't seen the full potential of what the school can offer but I'm sure I'll be happy with it
Good facilities , nice lecturers and good studios for my art
i go to preston college under derby university and the teaching and facilities are amazing !!
Love the uni I am in college campus which is why I have accommodation in Preston instead of derby
Do not choose nursing if you cannot drive! As an epileptic, I am not allowed to drive. When I spoke to the university, they said that this would be fine and that they would pick placements that are accessible to me. Great! Well, turns out they don't give two stuffed muffins if you can't drive, they'll stick you anywhere and then berate you for telling them it isn't doable. They accused me of being rigid and said that I should have thought about this before I started placement! All in all, the lecturers are unequipped to deal with students who ask questions that are anything above basic. My tutor was apathetic and couldn't even pretend to care or help. The PEF (or at least mine) was the opposite of helpful, often condescending. I don't hate the course, I'm just thoroughly disappointed with this disgrace of a university. Don't ever choose a university out of convenience, there is a reason it is so low in the league tables.
So far so good considering we're still in a pandemic
I am only a first year but its pretty good
This is my fourth yeah and I love this uni! Would definitely recommend to a friend
Complete lack of support with poor online alternatives
I sat a postgraduate course with the UCLan Law School and found that the staff were supportive in both the taught and research aspects of the programme. The Lancashire Law School and the Lancashire Business School are definitely stand out features of the University, something which should be praised far more than they are.
Cant think of a good time I had here. Problem after problem nobody understood or helped. My blackboard was down for 7 months. I couldn't get any of my assignments or upload any of my work. The teachers ignored my emails time after time because they thought I didn't want to learn when in actual fact they didn't want to help. They even managed to not send me any emails or letters regarding my graduation and apparently asking 2 months before was too late!
I love it here best uni every never want to leave everyone so nice and encouraging
Uclan as a whole is not a bad university, i
Im currently coming to the end of my MSc Forensic Psychology degree at this university. I came from Edge Hill university doing my BSc Honours there, and I graduated with a high 2.1. I was full of confidence, however since I have been at this university I feel all my confidence has disappeared. I have had persistently low grades (which I take full responsibility for) however I feel there is a significant lack of support. I felt every time I asked a question about something, I was turned away and not given any real answers, therefore I felt unable to really improve my grades, and often I walked away never really knowing the answers or understanding where I went so wrong.
I'm an older student studying largely as a distance learner for an MSc in Financial Investigation. I left school at 17 so this is my one and only experience of University. First off, the course itself is great, very focused on producing people who are competent and employable. Lecturers are capable, experienced and knowledgeable. My key lecturers have all been friendly and helpful to me personally. In terms of the environment, Preston is a bomb site at the moment as there is a lot of work going on around the uni, but the campus itself is modern and seems to be well equipped and I love the library and computer facilities. Main issue for me was getting to grips with the distance learning systems - ask for help early on because it's not very intuitive.
Nice buildings and fantastic library resources and facilities:) Life in UCLan will definitely be one of my most unforgettable memories.
Great university with helpful and caring staff
Lovely, welcoming and inclusive.
What a fantastic Uni. Best decision I've ever made.
Uclan is a decent university with a good atmosphere for the most part. However if you are looking to study Korean here, I would look into Sheffield or SOAS as the people on this course are always toxic, with bullying being a massive problem
It's a decent university, with some unique courses and big investments however I wish they offered more support to us at these times.
The university has really qualified lecturers who try and help students whenever they can.$
An amazing place to study, full of student friendly services and dedicated staff
Beautiful campus, green and relatively calm streets in the morning so your walk to uni has less noises and more birds chirping
nice infrastructure, new technology and building
Had a good experience attending this university. Net lots of great people and there's always a lot going on around campus.
Great University, lots of career opportunities. Constantly expanding. Careers service was exceptional. Thoroughly enjoyed the students union.
There is a lack of community and social spaces as well as a lack of outside green spaces. I often struggle to get WiFi on campus as it disconnects and the signal is poor.
The university is amazing it provides a unique learning experience tailored to each students needs.
UCLAN is a great uni. The staff are really supportive and I am learning so much on my musical theatre course
Uclan is an an amazing university. They cater to all of students needs, providing a really informative and useful learning experience.
brilliant uni with amazing staff and facilities
UCLAN is a good university that has helped me on my course and meet other people on similar courses.
Love my course, advisors and tutors are always trying their best to help out
Amazing staff in most, if not all areas. Amazing support team via wellbeing. Amazing facilities such as computing/networking rooms
I really struggled at this university and felt better support could have been given, there was a lack of communication. I studied mental health nursing I had an unhappy second year in nursing, however my fellow students loved it and now are graduates. The facilities etc are great
After already attending a previous university that I didn't like, I was very worried about going back into education as I thought that every other University would be the same. I was wrong. UCLan is an absolutely awesome university, in my opinion. I'm currently enrolled on the BSc Neuroscience course and I have absolutely no complaints. The course is so engaging with great structure; the work load is given at our advantage to prepare us for the next year and/or the future; and the staff members are truly awesome. The best thing about this university has to be the staff members. I love every single one of my lectures as they all have the same caring, kind, and compassionate mindset. I've never once felt nervous or too scared to ask questions or about any problems I fave because I know that they're there to help me and guide me to do the best that I can. I can't speak for others who attend this university and study different courses but I honestly have no complaints
Recently done a BSc in nursing mental health. Minimal if not any support offered by tutors at the Preston campus. Not assigned placements till last minute, then no support by the university when on placement. Received responses to emails when they felt like responding and when they do finally respond the question you have asked is not directly answered. We were given assignments to complete whilst on placement (37.5hrs). The assignments are not always anonymous so if your a person who raises issues during the course expect a low grade. Would not recommend this course at this university to anyone. Student nurses have left due to lack of support and bad attitudes of certain tutors not because they have found the course hard.
It is a very good university. I would suggest it as the teaching quality is high! However, Preston is a small town with limited career prospects. This is the only reason that the last year I was transferred from Uclan to MMU.
Dont Join to this university it's a FAKE. They focused on getting international student and make money. They are not supporting students in any circumstances
I am shocked with lecturers who bully international students. Lecturers are full of prejudice, level of education is very low. They constantly confusing students, first time I saw this kind of attitude comparing to other Universities abroad
I've had the worst three years of my entire life here. This is the worst uni I have ever been to (I've been to a few). Regularly lecturers don't turn up to lectures or meetings. Time table changes last minute (including taking away our 6 weeks summer holiday), no one replies to emails. My dissertation, I got told to do a certain topic by staff then 6 days before the deadline they said i could no longer do the topic then all the staff on the module went on annual leave for a week until the deadline had passed. No support, no one emails back, they just make life difficult.
Uclan is a really good university, everyone at the university is caring and understanding, no matter if it's your lecturers or your peers. When your at uclan you also feel like you as the student are put first as all lecturers and staff try to do what's best for you.
Cheap city for people worried about money and very forgiving with grades
Good uni, great staff love my lectures and lab. Tutors help me with issues whenever I come across them.
This university is especially good for subjects relating to criminology or forensics.
the campus is ok but societies are poorly managed with such little range. teaching is good though. feels more like a really big school rather than a university.
it's an okay uni n the staff on my course are great, i just wish the landlords of the student housing were better at their jobs. they suck.
the university was good and quite big. and a beautiful environment.
A great university lots of facilities well equipped with everything I need and a lot of access to things included like Mac computers built in with photoshop and illustrator in the Buildings and the library , also free access to the gym which is great and has all the equipment I need , very happy here
I was an exchange student for one semester. Great library, good people, really good student network, always ready to help you, many societies. You can really get involved if you want. Lots of events (with free food, yummy). Loved the experience.
Very welcoming atmosphere, good location
The internet was good but just sometimes were not. Besides, it was all good in UCLan
The university is great, I feel like a home as everybody is so friendly especially the students and staff. It does not feel like am at university.
Great place to study. Very student focused. Very close to town, everyone is more than willing to help
There's a lot of people that can help you with most of the things you'd need and the facilities are great as well.
Well laid out, nothing too far from each other and close to the centre of Preston. Good student bar, cafe and communal atrium. Good internet access and extensive library. Free gym access. Good well being team
The campus is easy to get around, the clubs and societies are cheap and fun to join. The Student Union building has a nice shop which is relatively cheap, also with a bar that does fun stuff on certain nights (Tuesday Karaoke is a favourite of mine). Didn't look into the Careers service but I heard good things. Internet/Wi-fi is fine, but depending we did have it go out a few times because of road works close by or something.
Every staff I've met is friendly and kind.
Other than halls the university campus its self is well invested with more on the way, awesome facilities and teaching staff who are more than happy to help a relatively diverse group of clubs a very decent careers service in career edge and the wifi is top notch around campus
UCLan is such a good university as everyone is so helpful you never feel alone
Really good place to study I love it here
I've not taken part in the careers services or societies so can't really comment on them but the students Union hosts lots of fun interesting events and serve vegan food (though it often sells out). The internet generally works pretty well sometimes a bit slow but I'll take it over no WiFi. The buildings are all generally pretty well looked after and there are a lot of new/modern looking buildings but some of the older buildings have small lifts that are a bit of a tight squeeze for wheelchair users. Definitely recommend the gym as it's free for students and has a cardio room that's good for working out in if you're self conscious.
Great WiFi, and a nice convenient university.
I loved doing my computing bachelors degree here. I disagree with some of the reviews on here, the lecturers on the computing degree I did mainly had or were working towards PhD. Tge quality if teaching in my school is very good. The 4 week challenge in the first year is a brilliant starter. I have studied a masters here and I would highly recommend it.
I am very disappointed and think it's strange that students who came for me for advice on the BSc Hons in Health and social care at Burnley in 2017 achieved higher grades than me. The teachers didn't have any time for some students in my opinion they persistently failed me because they didn't like me. I'm now unemployed and doubt I will never work again.
If you hold unpopular/politically incorrect views, this Uni is not for you I just had a friend kicked out of this academia because had a opinion... That halal slaughter was barbaric Instead of challenging his opinion like how any Uni should do so students can learn to debate views they disagree with, they kicked him out, saying that they had "serious concerns about his ability to engage with his course and his cohort in a way that avoids perceptions of harassment by others" If you value free speech, this Uni is best avoided
No support from tutors on the BSc Hons in Health and Social Care. Shocked that they were so harsh at marking.
I recently studied the BSc Hons in Health and Social Care at Burnley and in my opinion the support was terrible, teachers gave me extremely low marks for good work, emails were ignored and it resulted in me being unable to find a job and not having a grade high enough for entry on to a Masters degree.
I undertook my degree in English Literature and the tutor Dr Richard Walker was hardly ever there. It is absolutely disgusting the amount of money I now owe to SLC when my teacher was always off sick; often only learning this after trudging across campus to find a pathetic note on a door. Now, ten years later, I am hugely indebted and without employment. I wonder if it has anything to do with such disgraceful treatment at the hands of my university.
The uni has 2 different free WiFi’s, so when one drops out (which they do) you can switch to the other and not waste your data. There are plenty of shops and places to buy lunch, however they can be expensive for what you end up getting. The library is brilliant, with bookable group study rooms so you can discuss the course content with friends. All the study rooms have whiteboards, computers and screens but you have to buy your own pen. Don’t buy it from the library, the price is ridiculous for a single whiteboard pen. The student union is good, it has a cafe and several shops, and also an amazon locker.
Fairly good uni, SU isnt the best ive seen but its decent enough, loads of societies not sure what most of them even do as i never hear anything but maybe thats my fault. Library is great especially as its open 24 hours
I hated it, lecturers were a waste of time
Absolute nightmare. Poorly trained staff (bachelor students) why would you have a university with students teaching students. I asked for time with my tutors and all they could spare with 5 minutes on a Friday. Ridiculous, I quit sooner than a year.
Started at UCLan in september 2017 and realised it wasn't for me and that I'd rather drop out early and take a gap year and work my ass off. Then found out I have to pay 2,500 gbp to UCLan (out of the 9,000 for an entire year) for the 2 weeks I went there..? Turns out this is hidden in the t&c's and I even looked around and no other uni does this?! So basically if you go to UCLan and want to drop out do it in the first week lol - which is before you can see if you like the course. A complete scam.
I have zero complaints about my course or the university, i just want to warn people that IQ leaves me wondering if there were better choices with better beds.
biggest mistake of my life studying at that place!
The election system and the employed staff members at the students union are an absolute disgrace and they should all be struck off if the union is going to rebuild its relationship with the students. Careers service and wifi are thoroughly good.
Love UCLan, free gym for students, plenty of things to do in the union. Good nightlife. Library is giant
Roeburn is the safest of all halls and stu and Steve the security guys are just the best
Enjoying my course and the experience so far! Such a good uni
Great uni, great experience so far
Internet goes down at least once a week when everyone needs to do work
Really great computing department and specialised labs. Staff are friendly and approachable too!
Friendly university with helpful student union
Got me my dream job. Made great friends.
Completed my foundation degree and loved UCLan. The facilities and staff were excellent, all lecturers were approachable and helpful in all situations. My halls for both years were excellent condition and affordable
Great location, amazing nights out, brilliant people and generally a fantastic University. Wouldn't of chosen anywhere else!
Amazing university with wonderful facilities! Staff are amazing and so supportive, plus there's so many societies you can join your never bored at uclan!
Best decision I have ever made in my life . Great course and staff members
Love everything about it! The fact that everything on campus is so close together is especially good for those in the first year and are wanting to go from their accommodation to their lectures quickly! The student union has everything you need and the staff in the centres are all really friendly. Joining a sports team is easy, you can be an amazing athlete or just someone wants to go for fun, everyone is included!
I studied BSc Psychology at UCLan which was very satisfying. The staff is very helpful and you get a lot of support with whatever you need. I enjoyed it a lot which is why I'm returning for my Masters degree this September.
A great uni full of friendly people. Close to the town centre but far enough away that you don't get the general public walking around. A large campus but everything within a 15 minute walk. Great night life all year round!
During my time at Uclan I have meet so many amazing people, both student and staff! I have never had teachers help and guide me in the right way like I have at Uclan. I was down and feeling depressed for a while and everyone really help me get past it and I managed to finish my year with a first!
I love uni. The uni is fab and the lifestyle is fab couldn't ask for a better experience.
Great facilities, with lots of help and support to ensure you get the best grade possible
Great campus 5 min from town, great work opportunities especially as an Ambassador, so many societies and clubs to join, staff are friendly and always willing to help, plenty of resources available.
A bit old fashioned. Lots of 'older' students 20-25. More going on for the young boring club lovers
Awful university. My course lecturers were shockingly unpunctual and never turned up, when they did they cut 2 hour lectures by almost 1 hour every time, and we finished 1 hour lectures within the first half hour, it made me wonder what I was paying for. I lived with people who studied different courses and they had a similar issue within the physics and maths courses. Facilities are okay but very open to the public so if you like being asked by the homeless for money everyday this is the university for you.
