good uni, think there could’ve been more support available through covid though.
Bad experience from staff (tutors and doctors) to University organizations 3 years of experience! lying to students, Unprofessional staff and doctors, very disorganized and the Student Union doesn’t do anything at all!! I study at Burnley campus.
A university that cares about making sure students get the best university experience but also the best possible education. The Staff are always there to help in any way they can, the campus and facilities are state of the art and the student union is always standing in support of the students. I did four years at UCLan and I wish I could relive those four years again.
Campus improvements are great and the new engineering building is great for the engineering school
Had only good experiences at the university
A good, developing modern university. Was very pleased with my studies at the MA, and was more than happy to return for PhD. The TESOL team is, by far, among the best.
Great uni, made great friends. Has amazing opportunities.
I have seen some of my best years at UCLan!
I really enjoyed my time in Uclan and the service in general has been so nice.
The university has a wide range of clubs and societies for students to join and facilities for students to use
Enjoy my course, the tutor and lecturers are very supportive when I have any question on it.
Great staff and facilities. The campus is modern and everything is within walking distance.
Decent university, still feels incomplete and I wouldn’t say the university campus is either innovative, welcoming or modern and Preston is a rather lacklustre city, however the course I am on is great.
The University of Central Lancashire is a great place to be, with the millions of pounds investment it will become even better. Great campus facilities, good location and great culture.
Tutors are lovely, the facilities are good :)
Good university to attend for certain subjects
Extremely welcoming university, with great resources as well as a great social atmosphere
University is helpful especially during lockdown
There’s a lack of facilities around campus for those in certain buildings meaning you have to go across campus just to sit with friends. The WiFi connection is very poor.
Good staff but need more events
Great uni, didn't spend much time in any clubs so I don't have much of an opinion on that
The uni feels great. Everyone in the area is nice and it feels safe. Due to covid i cant really review the uni experience just yet.
UCLAN has been great during the pandemic keeping us informed with new updates and procedures.
Due to covid the year was terrible but some lecturers are sound
Great experience and a very nice student city
School of medicine is amazing!
Preston campus is easily accessible
The school of medicine is great but the other facilities for an overall university experience is average
Good university and WiFi in the library. Staff are great
Love my Uclan experience, great tutors!
Experience halted due to the pandemic but overall its been a good year. The campus is quite nice and all clubs, societies and especially the student union are of great help.
I think the university has handled teaching quite well this year, despite the pandemic
Great univeristy! Staff are amazing! going to miss studying here!
great university in England close to Manchester!
Open and spacious, plenty of social facilities and the studying facilities are also great
Hate the university and moved to another one.
Obviously not what we expected this first year. But felt fully supported.
It’s a very diverse university with a lot of support for students and excellent facilities
Great university with great support team
Great help with the lectures and kind lecturers
Uclan has been good to me during covid, offering support and help with meals and also my assignments
Not a lot to say this year as covid has prevented me from using the campus so I’m not giving high reviews for that reason only
Yeah it’s not bad, could be better
The university is a lovely place to be
the university has a very home feel every one is very friendly and social including the tutors. the facilities are also very good with something for everything
Very good experience so far however due to covid we haven’t been into university much
Great library facilities helpful staff
A fantastic inclusive university. The teaching is really innovative and the city style campus is brilliant. The facilities are very modern with many new building being created to make UCLan even more desirable
Good uni and social things, lots of options to choose from
Good environment and helpful people
My experience with Uclan has been one of Patience and understanding on their behalf towards me. Going through the struggles of medical and mental care I needed time to take a step back and assess my choices. Uclan have helped at every step of the way to accomadate for my unique difficulties and situation to best support me in my drive to educate myself. I truly can not overstate the level of care and attention the staff and tutors will put in on behalf of students that demonstrate potential but are finding resistance from their own difficulties.
Very very helpful, lovely staff, lovely place
Brilliant uni with great facilities!
Campus is located very close to train stations and town Centre. 24/7 library service. Free gym membership for students.
Excellent staff and very friendly. I feel that has been partly the reason why we are all staying here next year too and have stayed in the preceding year. The staff is very supportive and have helped us out in whatever way possible.
I chose UCLan because of the homie feeling !For a international student like me that’s very important !
This the worst place to study masters wasted my 13K money time my future everything is spoiled. They don't teach anything new and their assignments and assessment process is rubbish especially Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise Green Bank hub, professors are useless.
Best University ever. Very helpful professors and staff.
This is particularly for anyone who wants to study here because they want to learn Korean or Japanese - DO NOT GO HERE the staff only care about their own personal projects. I am in my final year and my disseration adviser has no knowledge on my topic, he doesn't even bother to reply in the same week. I had a friend study Japanese and the head of the Japanese department literally didn't even look at my friends portfolio before marking it a 0
teaching will definitely be better once covid 19 is over, great support, you get treated like a person and not a number, overall i am pleased about my decision to study here.
Should be ranked higher honestly. I love the staff here, they're so nice. Things have been very difficult with Covid-19 but my course leader and academic advisors have been really supportive and caring. The campus is also really nice, it's open but feels really close and homely. Love the societies here. I've been a member of the Korean society for both of my years here and in first year when clubs were open the events were so fun. Everybody got involved, even people from the public were welcome, and the atmosphere was insane. Such a great time, although I don't know much about any other society here at this University. Preston is a bit hit or miss but in general it pretty much has everything you could want. I love the diversity here!
So far I enjoy the school. I just started during the pandemic so I haven't seen the full potential of what the school can offer but I'm sure I'll be happy with it
Good facilities , nice lecturers and good studios for my art
Do not choose nursing if you cannot drive! As an epileptic, I am not allowed to drive. When I spoke to the university, they said that this would be fine and that they would pick placements that are accessible to me. Great! Well, turns out they don't give two stuffed muffins if you can't drive, they'll stick you anywhere and then berate you for telling them it isn't doable. They accused me of being rigid and said that I should have thought about this before I started placement! All in all, the lecturers are unequipped to deal with students who ask questions that are anything above basic. My tutor was apathetic and couldn't even pretend to care or help. The PEF (or at least mine) was the opposite of helpful, often condescending. I don't hate the course, I'm just thoroughly disappointed with this disgrace of a university. Don't ever choose a university out of convenience, there is a reason it is so low in the league tables.
So far so good considering we're still in a pandemic
I am only a first year but its pretty good
This is my fourth yeah and I love this uni! Would definitely recommend to a friend
Complete lack of support with poor online alternatives
I sat a postgraduate course with the UCLan Law School and found that the staff were supportive in both the taught and research aspects of the programme. The Lancashire Law School and the Lancashire Business School are definitely stand out features of the University, something which should be praised far more than they are.
Cant think of a good time I had here. Problem after problem nobody understood or helped. My blackboard was down for 7 months. I couldn't get any of my assignments or upload any of my work. The teachers ignored my emails time after time because they thought I didn't want to learn when in actual fact they didn't want to help. They even managed to not send me any emails or letters regarding my graduation and apparently asking 2 months before was too late!
I love it here best uni every never want to leave everyone so nice and encouraging
Uclan as a whole is not a bad university, i
Im currently coming to the end of my MSc Forensic Psychology degree at this university. I came from Edge Hill university doing my BSc Honours there, and I graduated with a high 2.1. I was full of confidence, however since I have been at this university I feel all my confidence has disappeared. I have had persistently low grades (which I take full responsibility for) however I feel there is a significant lack of support. I felt every time I asked a question about something, I was turned away and not given any real answers, therefore I felt unable to really improve my grades, and often I walked away never really knowing the answers or understanding where I went so wrong.
I'm an older student studying largely as a distance learner for an MSc in Financial Investigation. I left school at 17 so this is my one and only experience of University. First off, the course itself is great, very focused on producing people who are competent and employable. Lecturers are capable, experienced and knowledgeable. My key lecturers have all been friendly and helpful to me personally. In terms of the environment, Preston is a bomb site at the moment as there is a lot of work going on around the uni, but the campus itself is modern and seems to be well equipped and I love the library and computer facilities. Main issue for me was getting to grips with the distance learning systems - ask for help early on because it's not very intuitive.
Nice buildings and fantastic library resources and facilities:) Life in UCLan will definitely be one of my most unforgettable memories.
Great university with helpful and caring staff
Lovely, welcoming and inclusive.
What a fantastic Uni. Best decision I've ever made.
Uclan is a decent university with a good atmosphere for the most part. However if you are looking to study Korean here, I would look into Sheffield or SOAS as the people on this course are always toxic, with bullying being a massive problem
It's a decent university, with some unique courses and big investments however I wish they offered more support to us at these times.
The university has really qualified lecturers who try and help students whenever they can.$
An amazing place to study, full of student friendly services and dedicated staff
Beautiful campus, green and relatively calm streets in the morning so your walk to uni has less noises and more birds chirping
nice infrastructure, new technology and building
Had a good experience attending this university. Net lots of great people and there's always a lot going on around campus.
Great University, lots of career opportunities. Constantly expanding. Careers service was exceptional. Thoroughly enjoyed the students union.
There is a lack of community and social spaces as well as a lack of outside green spaces. I often struggle to get WiFi on campus as it disconnects and the signal is poor.
The university is amazing it provides a unique learning experience tailored to each students needs.
UCLAN is a great uni. The staff are really supportive and I am learning so much on my musical theatre course
Uclan is an an amazing university. They cater to all of students needs, providing a really informative and useful learning experience.
brilliant uni with amazing staff and facilities
UCLAN is a good university that has helped me on my course and meet other people on similar courses.
Love my course, advisors and tutors are always trying their best to help out
Amazing staff in most, if not all areas. Amazing support team via wellbeing. Amazing facilities such as computing/networking rooms
I really struggled at this university and felt better support could have been given, there was a lack of communication. I studied mental health nursing I had an unhappy second year in nursing, however my fellow students loved it and now are graduates. The facilities etc are great
After already attending a previous university that I didn't like, I was very worried about going back into education as I thought that every other University would be the same. I was wrong. UCLan is an absolutely awesome university, in my opinion. I'm currently enrolled on the BSc Neuroscience course and I have absolutely no complaints. The course is so engaging with great structure; the work load is given at our advantage to prepare us for the next year and/or the future; and the staff members are truly awesome. The best thing about this university has to be the staff members. I love every single one of my lectures as they all have the same caring, kind, and compassionate mindset. I've never once felt nervous or too scared to ask questions or about any problems I fave because I know that they're there to help me and guide me to do the best that I can. I can't speak for others who attend this university and study different courses but I honestly have no complaints
Recently done a BSc in nursing mental health. Minimal if not any support offered by tutors at the Preston campus. Not assigned placements till last minute, then no support by the university when on placement. Received responses to emails when they felt like responding and when they do finally respond the question you have asked is not directly answered. We were given assignments to complete whilst on placement (37.5hrs). The assignments are not always anonymous so if your a person who raises issues during the course expect a low grade. Would not recommend this course at this university to anyone. Student nurses have left due to lack of support and bad attitudes of certain tutors not because they have found the course hard.
It is a very good university. I would suggest it as the teaching quality is high! However, Preston is a small town with limited career prospects. This is the only reason that the last year I was transferred from Uclan to MMU.
Dont Join to this university it's a FAKE. They focused on getting international student and make money. They are not supporting students in any circumstances
I am shocked with lecturers who bully international students. Lecturers are full of prejudice, level of education is very low. They constantly confusing students, first time I saw this kind of attitude comparing to other Universities abroad
