Great uni, for both undergraduates and masters.
My time at LJMU has been an amazing experience. I have enjoyed my course and that was made possible by the state-of-the-art facilities and welcoming staff at the university that gave my the support I needed to suceed. The campus has always been presented professionally and it's location is prime with close proximity to student accomodations and the city centre, with easy to locate buildings.
State of the art facilities and amazing staff, The only thing holding LJMU back is its own modesty
Amazing university with amazing campuses and facilities.
Great university, really enjoy my course and all the support given
From my course that I have chosen I did not have the best first year, the facilities where acceptable but not in any way creative or inspirational for an art course. There could definitely be more clubs and societies towards arts but most are for sports.
Amazing university! really helpful staff on other campus'. however if your studying on IM Marsh you often feel forgotten about and personally my tutor has not been their for us at all this year. however i have heard very good things about other tutors!
This university provides everything required and most of what is desired from a good university.
They just never seem to do anything for you here. Like you just get given lectures (sometimes). There is no care or pride in work
Lovely staff and i love the uni
LJMU has been very supportive during the coronavirus crisis.
I find my lecturers to be super helpful, and everything is online using the Canvas system. There's a Starbucks and a generics cafe in the James Parsons campus, with the Avril Robarts a 5 minute walk away. Theres loads of facilities to work and socialise on campus. I really enjoyed my time at LJMU, and I'm sad to be leaving!
Its a good Uni, you will like it
I studied Maths with Finance , The staff were always helpful and supportive. The course was interesting and I am looking forward to my next year.
Great university, however the campus is quiet spread out
really good university with amazing facilities
The Redmonds building is a lovely new rebuild. Only criticism is that lectures aren't recorded and if you miss a lecture for any reason then you're missing all needed context
During my first year at John Moores I have been surprised at the lack of time tabling for my course. Only having three hours of lectures and six hours of seminars spread across two days of the week almost seemed pointless to me. It felt as though there wasn’t enough contact time and that we haven’t learnt an awful lot. However the university is very good at forcing you into a situation where you appreciate independent study, as that is where you gain the most knowledge for the course, the teachers are all good people and are eager to help anyone in any spare time that they have. The option to go to other repeat seminars is available also which I found useful because if I didn’t grasp something in my first seminar I could join in with another and make sure my understanding was then solid.
Fine until forced to switch to online teaching during COVID-19 which as consisted of poorly made PowerPoint and not much else, despite many other universities offering live lectures and supporting students through this already drastic change. You cannot teach yourself at degree level with just a PowerPoint, and it is most certainly not worth the fees. Sort yourself out LJMU
Love John Moore’s university the law/ business building is amazing!! The staff are really helpful and support you 100% of the way
Great university, a shame the term has been cut short.
Great specialised facilities and comfortable environment
John Moores is exceptional would recommend to anyone looking at uni for an option
LJMU is a lovely uni would highly recommend
Great University, Student Support is amazing
Great university which helps with all students
Pretty terrible university looking back and my degree was never asked for over the last 17 years or so. But uni helped me grow up as a person so much so don’t regret the experience at all
I've had an amazing experience at this uni. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Will be really sad to go, I wish I didnt ever have to. Obviously like all things in life, it isnt perfect and theres room for improvement but I'm leaving knowing I'm leaving a legacy behind, and thatll do me. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to true have the time of their life
Many technical issues with emails and attendance forms.
It's been an okay experience could be better
Overall enjoyable experience at university so far
Great Uni, with great curriculum
Great course but sometimes the facilities are lacking
Good and one to one help if needed
Great university and all the opportunity’s are great
I’ve met lots of people and I really enjoy being a part of the poker society. The campus has good facilities and I think the library looks good now it’s been refurbished
Good place to go and have a fun time
Also gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
It’s a good university for the study
Honestly, do not even consider this University for your undergraduate or postgraduate degree. I started my MSc programme here and was treated terribly by uncoordinated staff and lazy lecturers. Worst of all however, was the complete disregard for students personal issues and wellbeing. I informed the University I couldn't pay my tuition until a week later due to late paychecks and utility bills. The University responded by taking the tuition straight out of my bank account and when I complained about this, there response was "its automatic, you cant get a refund" which put me in a really bad place. Do NOT consider this University, as they only see you as revenue.
Best uni in lpool, social life is insane
LJMU Art and Design is a great place with lovely facilities and wonderful teachers.
really good and fun and lots to do
really good and really fun and helpful
Good location good people good cleaning
Have met some great people from uni and staff have been really supportive throughout the course
Redmonds is a very good building with nice facilitie
Everything is good nice campus
The societies need to be more accessible
Staff are soo friendly and the course is brilliant
Fantastic uni , loving my time here
Great experience ! And I love my course and tutors
My campus is outside of Liverpool so that’s the only reason I do not like it however you get a lot of support.
I like the building layout and resources
I have studied here for 2 years now, I have made lots of friends and learned a lot of news skills!
The uni is very good and it offers a lot of support if you are ever struggling. It’s got many great facilities such as a 24 hour library so if you like working at night that’s not a problem.
I love my university, the best place to study in Liverpool :)
Great resources staff are always friendly and helpful
John Moores University is great
Wow. How disappointing! From day 1 I’ve had issues with my time table and modules due to their administration errors (which I still continue to fix myself). Trying to get help with your modules is a myth. ironically the Student engagement officers cancel your appointments and completely ignore your feedback. We pay almost £10,000 a year and yet the lecturers can’t be bothered to turn on the mic in lecture halls of 200+ students, so you can’t hear anything. Absolutely shocking. I’ve moved back to the uk to attend university and it’s the biggest mistake I’ve made thus far. I’m currently looking to transfer universities as I can’t bare another year at this place.
Good staff, everyone so friendly
Okay I have received a message to let me confirm the payment done with the new
LJMU is a great university. I will be sad to see the closure of IM marsh, however i will of graduated by then.
Great uni, lots of societies to join and staff are always helpful.
Stan is all night owl at Apollo.
Stan is all night owl at apollo,so we feel very safe·
have very good experience in liverpool!
Nice staff and nice environment
LJMU is a widely diverse university with great campuses located around the city. However, there is no SU location for events and some campuses are outdated and old. On the plus side, the lectures are great and incredibly helpful like all the staff across the university. I would definitely recommend John Moores as it is a very fun university to attend.
Decent, gets the job done and lots of support.
The lecturers are always willing to help
Great uni and the lectures and personal tutors are very helpful.
It helps so much with our career
Im doing a masters at Liverpool John Moores university and I’m having a great time! The roadworks are a pain at the minute but the university has worked hard in making sure all the students are safe and well looked after.
It is 15 minutes away from the university
Great experience, have had a great time overall
Amazing university, would highly recommend, really helpfully and very Supportive with mental health and well-being.
Really good, modern facilities and excellent tutors and staff.
Great Uni. loads of facilities and lots of societies to choose from. The teaching is also great.
Great Facilities, lots of support
I am really enjoying my time at Uni
uni is enjoyable and everyone is supportive
Staff is very useful and kindless
Love the uninreally nice atmosphere
Facilities are equipped and well arranged
everything is good and helpful
My Campus (Mount Pleasant) is great. Good, modern library. Always staff there to help if you need anything. The well being services are also great, the support not only from the student advice & wellbeing team is excellent but also from the tutors. I have found that even if someone is not your personal tutor, they are always on hand to talk and are happy to arrange a meeting with you. Another perk is that you get printing credits & on my course (Law) you get all of your core books for free! This is a massive bonus considering it's this stuff that all adds up! The careers help is excellent. Receive numerous emails a week about things we can be doing, employability fairs / events, careers meetings, talks etc. There are so many societies etc. The lectures are also really good. The majority of my lecturers have been great and have made subjects that I can't stand... interesting! I can't fault my university at all, I'll be sad to go!
Better last year everything else ik
There’s a little help from admin can be confusing.
New to LJMU. Some absolutely lovely people working here, can't do enough to help you. Then there are those who seemingly go out of their way to make you feel inferior. I can even give an example- I was walking down a busy hallway and apologised to the person coming toward me because I couldn't move over any further. I was forced to stop because this person was a teacher who refused to move over a little to let me by. Instead, he made a production of it and stated "You're going to have to move, because I'm not going to move." I know this seems like a small thing, but I felt humiliated by this, his friend even stood and watched. I believe it was rather rude. Especially as I did not know where I was going and I also apologised for being in the way in the first place. People here either a pleasure or arrogant jerks.
Im a current student of ljmu studying at their franchised school of architecture in SriLanka. It is my biggest disappointment to study at this campus due the level of responsibility and validation ljmu engaged in our franchised course. The local professors are biased and picks on certain students for personal reasons. The course was a rollercoaster of mental harrassments and unethical activities through academic assessments. I tried complaining about these issues to the main campus, but no proper action was taken.
Health and Wellbeing not good; don't follow up students who have made contact, this is not good if they are suffering from anxiety or depression. What are they there for? Students leave who can't cope, students suffer short and long term. And no one tells tells their next of kin.
Brilliant uni, especially for quantity surveying/construction students. Really fun place to be. Comfortable. Strongly recomend
LJMU is undoubtedly the most inadequate university in the country. I sat a masters degree and LJMU will not even allocate the credits I passed, leaving simply because I was completely unsupported and they even refused to accept a student loan for fees. Simply the university from top to bottow are inadequate and the sooner that Ofsted get themselves in there and close this establishment the better. I would like to call LJMU an educational establishment but simply they do not provide a suitable level of provision even if education was free and never mind nine grand a year. Please avoid.
One of the biggest scams I’ve endured in my life was going to LJMU. On open day they promised me the world and claimed that every student gets a job upon graduating in their field of study. All of the “dream, plan, achieve” was just a vague motto that was meant to reel in vulnerable people. LJMU should offer a disclaimer to state that going to their institute could be a costly waste of time.
MSc in Astrophysics by distance learning: Horrible, miserable staff, unprofessional, a totally disgrace, ridiculous system, please don't waste your money...!!! Lack of feedback, no exam solutions provided, poor communication, invest your money in other institution. They have no idea what means distance learning no support and no way to learn anything..!!!!
Did a journalism degree at LJMU, please go elsewhere - this uni is the worst "education" I've ever experienced. I pretty much spent £9000 a year to self-teach. The students are flat and boring but at least their better than the lecturers. The journalism lecturers are unhelpful, rude and unprofessional - how they ever made it to the top tier of teaching is a complete joke.
The Drama course is one of the least organised efforts in all of humanity's history. The vast majority of the course tutors have displayed astronomic levels of arrogance, incompetence, pomposity and un-earned braggadocio that has made the £9,250 a year cost for the pleasure of their company hard to swallow. In terms of ability, most of these tutors wouldn't make the grade at the majority of primary schools and the communication between staff members could only be made worse if they hired mimes instead of PHDs.
Incompetent staff, virtually no existence of helping you after graduation. Hundreds of graduates from this university now work in Mcdonalds or warehouses. Please do not come here!
Fine art is very poor. Hardly any contact with tutors or lecturers. My tutor has spent a little more than twenty minutes with me all year. She still doesn't know all the names of her tutor group even. No one is remotely interested in students or their work. Staff go through the motions needed to be paid and disappear. So gutted I chose to come here. There isn't enough room or equipment. Libraries are excellent but everything else is extremely poor value for money.
