History (BA), like most degrees, is very hit and miss with content you find interesting. one benefit i would say about this module is that the exams for myself have either been coursework based or online long-window (23-hours) to complete a 1-2hour exam which is ideal it is very reading-heavy and they do ask a lot of you, literally tens of readings per week spread across the 4 modules per semester. and they do not offer a reading week which would be a God-send The Atlantic World module is probably the heaviest when it comes to reading on top of the 3000-word coursework that is due about a month and a half into Sem1. personal tutors, from my experience, are great, Dr Rakesh Ankit is my personal one. he is extremely approachable and he treats us as equals, which is very different from a levels where even though were young adults or even adults we are still children in the eyes of teachers, which is a very different from Uni. read more

I found the course interesting, but I just felt like there wasn’t enough contact hours and I wasn’t getting a lot out of the fact I was paying 9k a year. Most of the stuff I learnt I had already learnt in a levels and it didn’t feel like the standard of learning was that high. Having done little to no studying for first year I passed nearly all modules with a first. My personal tutor however was SUPERB. He helped me with every single little problem I was having and went above and beyond. read more

I like the choice of the modules, first year were not that interesting but second year choices were very good. Going into third year and they aren’t as good but better than first year. Teaching quality is okay, sometimes more info needed on the slides and sometimes some lectures don’t work when listening back to them on Learn- I like the layout of most of the examinations though. I would say first year was definitely worth the money as had an educational trip to Berlin- however second year and third year this isn’t offered so would say it’s not worth the money as much. read more

The academic staff are passionate about the topic in which they teach, thus giving the course greater depth than mere words on a PowerPoint presentation. This course has opened my eyes to the past and in doing so has given me greater appreciation of cultures across the world, an understanding of why contemporary societies have formed the way they have and provides a platform to drive the future in a positive direction. read more
